Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

I keep running into Gordon's dad here at the gym where I play pickup. Apparently he's heavily involved in a youth bball camp. I should ask him about his son's health sometime.

Might be worth a risk with our new medical staff and all.

It will be so glorious if he leaves them with nothing.

It would be soooooo bitter sweet. They would be paying a huge luxury tax, injured Kobe and only offer min MLE for a free-agent.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

I understand what you guys are saying about Batum and the CBA. It's important in the new CBA to watch the budget and not 'overpay' on 'roleplayers'. Whether that applies to Batum -- you guys seem to think it does. However, his salary at this point is a done deal. The team can't cut his salary. What's done is done. If he's an anchor, try to trade him. In the context of Batum's salary, the only thing that's relevant to me is, does trading him improve the team or provide the probability to improve the team?

In the meantime, when Batum scores 14 points, gets 6 rebounds, 5 assists and a block, and guards the other team's most athletic wing player, its the same 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and a block, and the same wing defense, regardless the contract he signed last year.

What puzzles me is that it's as if some people think those contributions are less impactful on the court the more a player is paid. Maybe that's not how it's meant, but it seems that way sometimes.

guards the other team's most athletic wing player,

If so, then try to trade him to get out of.

My beef isn't as much as the statistical category as it is on the leadership factor. I think he is still timid on the offensive end. He really needs to look for his shot more and work in areas that can get him to the line. If Aldridge is truly going to be traded; his step up needs to be much improved. He now becomes the #2 option on the team; which I hope 14 ppg isn't the norm for a #2.

I'm surprised we aren't hearing more rumors. Usually around this time a shit storm of rumors are flying around.

I'll go along with that.

Marcus Thompson ‏@gswscribe 57s
As expected, Carl Landry opts out http://bit.ly/120UJ8M

I would like this guy for the right price but I dont think he works with our budget

What do you supposed is his asking price? And if we are trading Aldridge; maybe a Landry is a good fit?

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

actually, no. We have our cap room and the Room Exception (2yrs, 5.3M total)

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

I keep telling you mods. Sticky those threads that BfWA wrote up about capspace and all our potential options. No one listens. Sigh

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

10 + Freeland + Kostas + 2nd rounders for Gordon and Lopez. I would do this. Would the Pelicans? If healthy, this would make us a 50 win team easily.

I would do it. The risk of injury is a concern; but the reward if pans out could seriously move the needle.

no FUKKIN way we gamble on Gordon, there is simply NO reason to - lock this please! lol

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

I dont particularly care for Gordon but that might have to be the kind of high risk/high reward move this team has to make at some point. I would probably consider pulling the trigger.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

MF surgery WAS on the table last summer for Gordon.

No way do you go after him now.

haha i definitely feel your apprehension. Luck has to turn sometime or the other, right? But for some reason I have a good feeling about EJ. Not so much about Bynum.

rather not rely on luck here cause it's not needed, simple common sense says don't even consider it

no shit

if it hurts every time you smash your finger with a hammer, sooner or later, you have to put the fucking hammer down

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Fuck it, I would do Gordon and the #5 for something like Wes/Freeland/cap space. Maybe see about flipping the 5th to move up and grab Oladipo as insurance in case Gordon crumbles. If you could get Gordon/Oladipo for basically nothing, I don't think it would be a bad move. If Gordon doesn't work out, so be it. They'd have to take Freeland though, and probably Wes. Wouldn't hurt our cap space too much. We could still go out and get a couple bench guys or a center.

Would you flip the #5 and the #10 for Oladipo?
