You know, if getting the C of our dreams doesn't work (Asik or Jordan or something for nothing), then I'm intrigued by the following backup plan.
We could just roll with a Leonard/Withey/Jermaine or K-Mart (at vet minimum) C rotation and use our cap space to get Webster (~3-5M) , Livingston or Augustine (near vet minimum) and Blair (2-4M). Webster is turning into (like Wes) one of the premier 3-and-D guys in the league, and is good insurance in case Nic or Wes gets banged up again. Blair isn't an all-star, but he's good for what he does (a cheaper Hickson?). A pure, backup PG shouldn't be horribly difficult to find to take the vet min or room exception.
Lillard/Wes/Batum/LMA/Center platoon with CJ, Webster, Blair, Augustine Claver, rest of C platoon
That's a decent amount of firepower, decent amount of young vets, good amount of role players with various skills, good trade chips, not a lot of injury history (other than Webster's back, which didn't give him a problem last year). You basically (by substituting one of the C's or Blair in for Hickson) have the same lineup as last year, one year better, and a supremely improved bench. And if you do get to trade LMA or somehow end up needing to trade, you have lots of good, useful pieces on good, useful contracts that shouldn't bog down the team going forward.
You can go big, small, defensive, 3-point bombing, "scrappy", etc. Obviously C is still the weakness.
