If Houston gets Howard, a Hickson S&T for Asik seems to make too much sense for both teams not to happen, doesn't it?

Yeah cause they wouldn't really lose a "PER MINUTE REBOUNDER" like ASIK and have someone that is a natural PF to play along-side Howard. Also, last season, Hickson really developed that mid range game to keep the fuck out of Howard's way.

Hmm. Why has nobody contacted Hickson in free agency? Hickson put up numbers as a garbage guy playing C. He feasted on offensive rebounds. Ain't gonna happen if he's next to Howard. They don't seem very compatible to me. You know who would be awesome playing next to Howard? Aldridge.

Something interesting to watch in summer league: Orlando's Victor Oladipo getting major run at PG - in mold of young Russell Westbrook.

Wow - at least one player will make McCollum look like a PG, then.

"Not being as historically bad as he was the previous season" is a bit different from "really developing".

This says otherwise...

around the rim 67%
10 - 16 ft he shot 46%
16-3 point he shot 49%

Now 3-10 ft he sucked 34%; but that's howard territory.

Now compare it to the season before

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hicksjj01/shooting/2012/

around the rim 63%
3-10 ft - 43%
10 - 16 - 22.8%
16-3pt - 33.8%

That is a drastic improvement if you ask me.

Hickson and Asik also have the same agent. Just throwing that out there.

I swear to God, if Olshey pulls off Asik for Hickson (who we thought we'd lose for nothing anyway); I will fucking scream with excitement!

Then add Tony allen to the mix for the remaining cap space and we really moved the fucking needle!

PG: Lillard/CJ
SG: Matthews/Allen/CJ/Crabbe
SF: Batum/Allen/Claver
PF: Aldridge/Robinson
Center: Asik/Leonard/Withey

Holy shit man! Fucking home run!

Something to consider: we have yet to renounce Hickson (something that we HAD to do) in order to use our capspace (as he takes up ~8 mil of it). Hmm maybe a S&T truly is in the works.

Exactly. NBA.com shows the same: 49% from 10-19 feet. Absolutely competent enough to keep the defense honest, and allow Hickson and Howard to coexist nicely.

My question--which alliterative frontcourt combo do you think will be more effective overall: Aldridge/Asik or Hickson/Howard?

How has this been missed?!?!?

I think Howard was just a part of a fucked up situation in Los Angeles. D' Antoni was a joke and he didn't get enough healthy burn to run with a good defensive minded Brown system. I think they are both very formidable; with a slight edge to Houston.

I suspect they would want something else than just Hickson for Asik. Maybe Barton and someone else. It just seems too good to be true.

Pretty sure you can't do both. A Hickson for Asik S&T would use up nearly all our space. No room for TA.

And if you want to sign a FA like Allen first, then we would have to renounce Hickson eliminating the opp for a S&T.

I think most of us just assumed Olshey had to renounce hickson to land a free agent. We may only need enough to get Allen. The really weird thing is we may use freehand with Hickson for Asik; so we have enough space to get Allen.

Also, I wonder how Rajon Rondo feels about being a celtic with Ainge's new quotes today, saying they aren't going after any big names.

But if we add freeland to the mix; then it can work. We would have roughly 6 mil to toss at Allen.

Can't combine a player with the guy being S&Td

And it's an easy fix. Just use some toss ins on a second deal. Whatever the case; it still can be done. We could even use Matthews as a sign and trade for Allen. Whatever the case; all is very possible.

I thought it didn't make sense for us to give them Wes, he is a starter here but they wouldn't have minutes for him. So Hickson S&T plus Leonard plus we give them a 2018 first round pick. We can’t trade away a pick for a number of years because it may go to the Bobcats.

The TRob trade won’t be finalized until July 11th anyways, so if both teams agree we can just revise the deal before that time. This isn't like the Doc Rivers fiasco where the commission will veto one trade for being dependent on another. The trade isn’t official yet, GM’s never back out of deals once they are agreed to in principle and announced because they would be blacklisted. But if both parties agree you see modifications all the time.

Thought this was interesting re: the Pelicans potentially offering a big deal to Tyreke Evans:

"Mike Prada@MikePradaSBNabout 9 minutes ago

If preparing an offer sheet for Tyreke Evans means cutting Robin Lopez and his NG deal, I'm going to say it's a mistake."

Prada isn't saying that the Pels will cut Lopez, just surmises that they may be doing so to make a big (less likely to be matched) offer to Evans. It potentially puts another center on the market (I'm not a huge Lopez fan, but he's better than a lot of the FA options out there).

So first Leonard + 2018 pick + bag of 2nd rounders/Euros for TRob.
HOU clears up enough room and signs Dwight.
Now, we do Hickson S&T for Asik?

Can this work?

That first one couldn't work because they need the space for Howard. But maybe we could do Leonard + Hickson for Asik

No, we can't deal anyone with JJ in a S&T.

How much cap room did Houston need us to take on for them via the T-Rob deal? Not sure what the difference is between ML's and T-Rob's salaries, but if Houston only needed us to take on, like $1.4 mil, I could see yuyuza's deal still working.

I know I mentioned that rule up top. But forgot it when I tried to put this together. Ya it doesn't seem very likely.

I don't think this is right, the Knicks just threw Quentin Richardson in as a S&T to complete the Bargnagni deal along with other players being sent from the Knicks.

I'm assuming it's being looked at as one deal, but was actually two separate deals. Admittedly, I don't know the ins-and-outs of the new CBA, but several other posters have signed you cannot trade additional players with a player being signed-and-traded away.

I would think we could just deal Lenoard, picks, Hickson S&T for Asik +Trob.
Then Houston signs Dwight.

Maybe that wouldn't give Houston enough space so we only send Hickson & rights to Volleyball boy & two 1st round picks for Asik & Trob. That would use up all our cap space but I'd be ecstatic.
