^Sad thing is......... that's looking at the bright side!

Wow! That's actually a real nice pickup for Sac!

No shit... why is Greivis Vasquez always just thrown around in trades like he's a nothing?

First, he more or less saves the Memphis Grizzlies asses in upsetting the Spurs in a #1/8 match-up. His thanks? Getting dealt or Quincy Pondexter.

Next, he finishes 3rd in the NBA in assists... gotta repeat that one for emphasis... 3rd in the NBA in assists (and on a team that lacked scorers). His thanks? He gets shipped out to a team that's overstocked with guards.

I feel for Greivis man... I've been a fan of him since his Maryland days and was pumped when my Grizz drafted him. Yeah, he might play at 110 mph, but he's one of those guys like Ginobili that can actually play "out of control" and still really be in control.

I'm with you... huge get for the Kings...

EDIT: Greivis didn't finish third this season in APG... he finished second because Rondo only played 38 games.

BTW - The last five guys who finished #2 in APG?

'13 - Greivis Vasquez
'12 - Steve Nash
'11 - Rajon Rondo
'10 - Chris Paul
'09 - Deron Williams

Yet the Pelicans just threw Greivis Vasquez in as a cap-filler? That's some bullshit on New Orleans' part and a real black mark on an otherwise great offseason...

With Vazquez and Isaiah Thomas, the Kings now have two PGs with a better PER last year than Lillard...

You make it sound like the Pelicans (still sounds stupid saying that) dissed him, when they did him a favor. He could start in Sacto, or at least only has to compete with an oompa-loompa, whereas he'd be stuck behind Jrue Holiday in New Orleans. I think it was actually a pretty classy move.

Exactly. This is a perfect reason why we should ban any reference to PER on this this board forever. (I know wishful thinking on my part)

I think it's funny how the league keeps changing the CBA and making it harder to spend money..... and yet every summer teams blow cash like a drunken sailor. I never would have thought that Al Jeff would be worth 15 million per, or Iggy would be offered 14 million per. It's just silly.

it's not the "per year" contract value, but the totals. It's impossible to give 6, 7, 8 guaranteed years to someone anymore. Giving Iggy a contract that pays him 14M a year for 4 years (or CP3 5/103) is about as ridiculous as they're allowed to get. Compare that to IND having to pay 7yr/126 to "lock up" Jermaine--who actually "earned" his--and multiple teams blowing 9 figures on long-term deals w/ the likes of Gil Arenas and Rashard Lewis.

I'm actually writing up another tl;dr post about what FA has done for "windows", but taking jlprk and Platypus' advice I'm notepadding it. ;)

Wow the pelicans are morons. Overpay Evans and send them Vasquez who had an amazing year.

The kings actually made a good move for once

Kings are looking pretty sharp actually. They had McLemore fall into their laps, they're making a great trade out of nothing with Evans, and they're rid of the Maloofs.

Cap space just never lived up to his hype or his potential in Portland. Maybe he'll have better luck elsewhere.

What are you guys talking about? Cap Space is a man of legend.

I've been waiting for Cap Space to realize his potential for so long, but Cap Space has been underutilized in the Blazers system. Maybe it's time for him to go.

Cap Space was going to leave us for nothing, anyway--so we might as well trade him for some assets now that can potentially be spun into gold later.

Any JJ Hickson news/rumors? Teams don't seem to be clamoring for him as a starting PF.

I think teams are waiting for the Howard deal to go through.

This is probably right. I think there will be a flurry of movement after Dwight finally picks his destination.

I could see a team like Atlanta offering JJ a nice deal.
