Same thing Portland will be doing if they get rid of LMA for lesser players, just as Utah did when they traded Deron Williams for lesser talent.

no shit, then people are advocating getting guys like Derrick Favors as the future? Omer Asik as a franchise cornerstone?

Please. fast train to sucksville. totally and utterly laughable.

well, except for the fact that he has been first team all defense the last two years...great point.

You said all-star or league leader.

Neither of which applies to Tony Allen.

We can also broaden the scope... Shane Battier? Avery Bradley? Iman Shumpert? Clearly, poor defenders.

Reggie Evans isn't an elite rebounder is he? or Asik? Or Noah?

The team is better with Klay/Barnes/Lee over just LMA.

Just saying....

Also, Houston fans right now are thinking they can get LMA if Dwight chooses Golden State.

I fail to see what they have to offer though.

That's the first trade I've seen posted that I'd accept for LMA. It definitely make Portland better, and it helps GSW if they get Howard.

You seriously don't think "First Team All NBA Defense" is not being a "league leader"? we're talking about time tested players, not guys who are elite rebounders who don't play alot and dont get a lot of rebounds. I'm an elite rebounder in the NBA, I just don't get enough PT.

Whatever you say.

So, you'd say if you rank 13th in the ENTIRE NBA in total rebound percentage, you'd be elite, yes?

13th on the list on a useless stat doesn't mean "elite". Elite means the top 5 in the league. come on, say it. I dare you. Say "Derrick Favors is one of the top 5 rebounders in the NBA". I dare you. I double dare you.

nice

Guess I shouldn't' complain. The single biggest reason the Blazers will make the playoffs in 2014 is not Neil Olshey (or the acquisitions ofC.J. McCollum, Robin Lopez and Thomas Robinson), it's Josh Kroenke . Thanks Josh!!!

It's kinda sad, signing Freeland appears to be Olshey's worst move so far.

Derrick Favors is an elite rebounder in the NBA.

My definition of elite is top 15. Not top 5.

Great. Then that means we just traded for an elite offensive rebounder! (Lopez was 15th in the league in offensive rebounds last year). And LMA only needed 20 more defensive rebounds over the course of the year to qualify as elite. So close!!

Waiting to see if LA now tucks its tail between its legs and accepts a sign-and-trade, after they so staunchly said no.

You have to combine offensive + defensive rebound percentage. They sort it by Total Rebound Pct and Lopez and Aldridge - are not in the top 20, of whcih he was 14% - the 20th ranked was 16.9%.

I can't see the Lakers taking Asik and Lin. Somebody on Twitter said Asik for Ryan Anderson makes a lot of sense. And it does!
