So much for Asik to New Orleans -

"Have it on strong authority Pelicans not only haven't talked to Rockets about Asik sign-and-trade but likewise have no interest in him"

- Marc Stein via twitter

Potential new suitors...? Atlanta talks still alive...?

That's the great thing about Twitter. You have no fucking idea if anything you are reading is remotely true.

Sad but true, yet that's where all the news tends to break these days. There are so many wannabe Peter Vecseys that want to be the first to break news, that a lot of speculation gets reported as fact.

Mr. Doo, you're in here awfully early....... homework all done?

Haha, fuck off... my schedules changing... my part-time summer night job's done, and now I'm headed back down to NOLA for law school in two weeks... getting readjusted to the real world...

so far not one word on Andrew Bynum goin anywhere - I love it and hope it stays that way

I couldn't believe it when I read that he was refusing to work out for teams interested in him. Guy is as entitled as they get and I hope he is in for a RUDE awakening.

Likewise, but isn't Dallas interested in him? They still have cap-room, right?

Sidenote, how fucking stupid does Dallas look? Blew up their championship team for a shot at Paul and Howard. Instead they end up with Jose Calderón as a consolation prize.

Grass isn't always greener on the other side folks.

Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) tweeted at 8:08 AM on Sat, Jul 06, 2013:
Mavs' post-Dwight interest in Bynum is legit. They ARE pursuing him. Yet it's been made clear they'll make detailed/careful evaluation first

About what I thought he would get paid.

I honestly don't know what the hell the Pistons are doing.

Trying to become slightly relevant? I dunno. I think Smith and Drummond start, Monroe off the bench, Smith can play alongside either one of them as PF, and, for small stretches to increase all their minutes, he sees some time at the 3.

I think they're just signing him and hoping to trade Monroe or Smith for a good player some time in the season.

Doesn't make sense to sign a 14 million dollar guy when your best player currently plays the same position.

Me neither, but maybe more importantly Houston just doesn't look like a real contender as constructed, and there isn't much else in the way of big time FAs or players on the block. In a playoff series would they beat the Spurs? Thunder? Clippers? Memphis? Warriors? Not saying they're worse than any of those teams but playoff matchups would be a toss up.

My guess is that Monroe becomes trade bait.

All right - what cap space is left NOW?

ATL still has quite a bit of cap space.
CLE has a bit (but not quite a bit) left.
DAL still has some.
DET still has some (even after getting JSmooth).
MIL has some but they need to bring their PG back.
PHX might have some (they did before the trade).

That is all I think.
