Yeah we should go hard after him, before USC or UCLA gets the drop on him

Does it ever concern you to pick up kids who have previously decommited?

it can be hit or miss. Its worked out with us before with late flips we've had. Just some recent examples... Josh Huff was TCU commit, DAT - USC. Torrodney Prevot USC, Bralon Addison was committed to both OK State, and Texas A&M before us.

It can also burn us too in more recent memory, Budda Baker, and Dontre Wilson to Ohio St last year.

Texas QB Jarrett Stidham has scheduled an unofficial to Eugene with childhood friend/Athlete Ryan Newsome on April 12th. Newsome is a speed demon and plans on running track in college as well... he's also friends with Bralon Addison

I'm in the cheap seats viewing things from afar/enjoying the recruiting ride. If the coaches feel a 17 year old is worth pursuing, then thats that. Wheels noted several of the flips for and away from Oregon. While it's always nice when a highly thought of prospect fulfills their childhood dream of becoming a Duck, I certainly don't think a kid as damaged goods if they've changed their mind following committing elsewhere... especially in a case like Daniel where the coaching staff he committed to is no longer at the school. The very high rate that Oregon commits have been sticking with the program (career ending injuries aside) leads me to believe that all the talk about recruiting high character kids isn't just talk.

TJ, Nelson, and then Newsome? Oh man we're getting some big time speed if we grab Newsome alongside Stidham.

Helfrich reportedly just made an in school visit at Florida DLineman Byron Cowart's HS. Cowart claims Oregon as one of his favorites.

another top Florida prospect is interested in the Ducks. Jordan Cronkite says at this point there is only one OV he's sure he's taking, and thats to Eugene. He's listed as an athlete, but claims Oregon is recruiting him as a RB. He's another kid who has been playing in a spread offense & grew up rooting for UO

Cool to hear. IT'd be great if we get Coward and Cronkite.

I wonder where they're projecting Cowart... he's listed about the same size now as Balducci was at his age

Ducks put out an offer to another top Louisiana recruit, WR Tyron Johnson.

TAMU or LSU, the latter has that state in shut down aside from Alabama.

And Auburn and Florida have been pushing hard for Cowart.

Isn't there a DT in conneticutt we can offer?

Mattrell McGraw? While he didn't have a LSU offer, he had offers from most of the SEC including Bama. How exactly does your Louisiana is shut down theory square this?

Florida pushed hard for Tony James

rivals has Cowart ranked as the #3 prospect in the country, so of course teams want him. Oregon goes head to head recruiting with other big time programs all the time. They're going to continue to only land a fraction of the kids they go after, and the odds don't go up as they recruit farther away. But if a recruit from far off has grown up a fan of the Ducks and takes an OV in the fall, I like UO's chances.

LSU only takes the best of the best, my guess is they wanted the big safeties down in Texas over a local product.

And he's a 3* and he knew that he will wither away offensively. Florida is a defense minded school and has sent many guys to the NFL on the D-line. Oregon only has Ngata(6+ years ago) and Dion to their credit.

McGraw had offers from the two other sheriffs (Alabama & TAMU) you listed who wouldn't allow him out of Louisiana lockdown. His offers list was about as impressive a collection of whose who in college football as you can get and he fluctuated between being listed as a 3-4* on most sites. Besides that, LSU signed six 3*s in this past class so that goes out the window too.

Fact is guys can and do leave if they want to, just like every other state.

there are 5 Gator DLineman in the NFL today compared to Oregon's 2 & Taylor Hart will make it 3. An advantage Florida can point to... sure, but those numbers aren't overwhelming. The Ducks haven't landed anything close to the amount of high profile big kids that UF has so the counter argument could be made that they've actually underachieved. The Gators also have been losing a lot...

UCLA is in LA and it has been getting hotter. I think they're gonna target Louisianna hard. Florida and Louisiana are close by and Ole Miss has become a recruiting hotbed.

True, but that means competition against FSU, Alabama, LSU(who have been hitting Florida hard, then again, so does everyone).

Well I was wondering how we aren't targeting the california DTs Daniels and Greene.

So I heard about Cowart. Yeah lets ease off until December then on him...

Creason looks like a beast. I like him. Also, the more I think about it, the more likely I think we're gonna land either Hart or Waller for the QB position over Stidham(who is leaning towards T-Tech). I am leaning towards Waller more due to his dual thread ability and his intangibles.

Also, since we're loaded up on DBs, RBs, and WRs for years to come, whats the word on the TE and OL that favor us(outside of Creason).

Regardless of position every kid with a UO offer has expressed interest in the program or they wouldn't be considered for an offer. Another unrated (for now) OLine prospect from Yakima Washington with a recent offer named Shane Lemieux has listed the Ducks as co-favorite along with Univ. of S.Carolina. He's relayed that Bama and UTAM are coming after him as well

Thats just wierd. A Washington state O-linemen having SCAR has a co-favorite? I like our chances!

And getting Gragg out of SEC country will be tough. Arkansas will be gunning hard for him(though I doubt it because Bielma sucks as coach), which leaves Alabama and Tennessee to contend with. Gonna be tough getting a TE that has a similar make up to Colt.

Getting any player out of SEC country is tough for Oregon. That isn't news.

His Mom lives in Yakima his dad lives in South Carolina. He grew up rooting for the Gamecocks as much as anyone, but he'll be taking an unofficial to Eugene this weekend to meet the coaches and take the tour.

Go Mom!
