first post, welcome! Are you a long time lurker, is Speed Demon a name change, or did you just stumble across our little corner of the web?

I hadn't heard that Kyler was staying in touch, where did you read that? Like a great pass first PG, he seems to have a 2nd sense for the game knowing innately where everyone is and what to do with the ball. Definitely a prospect that jumped out at me.

Speaking of QBs, 2016 stud Seth Green says he'll be announcing October 17th between Minnesota, Michigan State & UO... I'll be surprised if he doesn't quack. He paid for his own way to camp at Oregon this summer and then returned for the Sparty game with his parents saying afterwords the Ducks led.

How does anyone see that these sanctions come into play? Losing one scholarship is not big deal but I wonder about the paid visit limitations? I think that the last two are hilarious because either A) The NCAA can't enforce it or B) Oregon was doing it already.

The football team will face the following penalties:

The school will face three years of probation that starts on Wednesday and ends June 26, 2016.

The Ducks will lose one scholarship for a new player for the 2013-2014 seasons, meaning they can only offer 24 of the maximum 25 allowed scholarships for new players. The team also forfeited one new scholarship last season.

The team will also lose one total scholarship for both the 2013-2014 and the 2014-2015 seasons, meaning they can only have 84 of the maximum 85 total scholarships during that period. The team also forfeited one total scholarship last season.

For the next three years the team will only be allowed to host 37 official paid visits for recruits, down from the maximum 56. For the past four years the team has only averaged 41 visits per season.

The team will lose “football evaluation days” for the next three years.

The team will not be able to use subscription recruiting services during the probation period.

The school will have to cut ties with Lyles.

I say that because the kid has a whole lot of speed which would probably be best utilized primarily on the outside rather then interior.

I heard nothing but doom and gloom from Fhusky fan over the potential sanctions and when they came down, I couldn't wait to throw it back in their faces. These sanctions on face-value doesn't really do anything, if much at all.

I wonder how many coaches in the Pac-12 were banking on Oregon getting sanctioned heavily and were let down?

Assuming Byron visits if he commits we'll take him, just don't think it is likely. Gus will very much be a hit or miss type prospect. High risk reward types.

We need DT's and this class is loaded with them! BTW- going after top DT's and signing them are very different things for those who think just putting out the offer is enough. Balducci was the last DT of importance we've signed here and that was three years ago! Oddly we at the same time run a 3-4 a DT's dream if run correctly.

Tell me how that's not recruiting and a D scheme problem again? Tell me how with everything Oregon has to offer why top DT's aren't flocking here? Simple answer..... Our D Scheme left the D Tackle out of it and they're going elsewhere.

If Green joins Daniel's, South, and Imam Marshall at USC next year to go along with Bigelow, Adore Jackson, McQuay and Cravens.... WATCH OUT! That's a lock down defense and just our luck we start playing them again next year!

Oregon has an amazing offense and we recruit just as well, but damn we need new D recruiting ideas and blood!

Bitch bitch bitch. In past years Oregon has divided up the country regionally between it's coaches. I don't know this for a fact, but I'd guess that the SE could be Chinander's. Besides that Chinander is the outside LB coach, which is where Gus would play at his current weight. I'm sure most Duck fans who follow recruiting are pretty stoked to make further inroads into the SE's recruiting hotbed both for this intriguing prospect and beyond. Whats odd is a Duck Fan complaining about landing him.

285? Weren't you just bitching he wouldn't crack 260? And for the umpteenth time, by NCAA rules coaches can't comment on individual recruits, so those outside the coaching loop only have only guesses what the coaches are thinking about where they're projecting him to play. Gus is about the same size as both Christian French and DeForest were coming out of HS, so it follows he could project either spot and Chinander may in fact turn out to be his position coach.

I accept that I don't know a whole lot of whats what, you pretend you're all knowing and insult anyone who points to reality... in this case that in past years Oregon has split recruiting up regionally among their coaches and the SE (where Georgia is located) may be outside of Aiken's or Pellum's assigned region. I gather what facts are available and sometimes venture a best guess. You blend Bleacher Report drivel with exaggerations & complete BS and then posture that it's the truth from on high despite being proven wrong again and again. according to our football know it all, Oregon's DLine coach can't recruit or coach. Never mind that Coach Aiken has had 17 years of college and 6 in the pros as a D coordinator, Swim Block has spoken. You know who hasn't got the word?

In addition, 6'4 298 4* Terry Beckner Jr is supposed to visit Eugene in Dec or Jan but isn't setting any of his OVs or even talking recruiting until his HS season is completed. Thank goodness we live in reality eh?

from what I can tell they're scheduled to have 3 kids in for OVs, 2 of which of some faint Oregon buzz... Zona LB Cassius Peat & Texas RB/WR Soso Jamabo. I'd expect that we'll find out about local SoCal talents who visited unofficially after the game

Having top recruits coming to one of the elite state of the art football campuses and them being pampered for 48+ hours and sent home with a carry on bag full of Duck gear and duck cheerleader memories and actually signing here are very different things MOUTH!!!! You'd think by our total lack of top 5* D line signees over the last 4 years you'd have gotten that! The fact you STILL defend our shaky close rate at this particular position of top talent is even more a mystery than you defending how a apathetic 3-4 D is working!

Let's also remember while we are talking about facts vs. opinions here, Aiken didn't even recruit Cumberlander for his own line, and can you name 1 top talent DT Aiken has brought into Oregon since being here? Oh that's right we haven't recruited a true D Tackle in 3 years. Thus why our line is being run over now!!

Chinander has already out recruited Aiken for his own line and Erik has only been back under 6 months. There have been plenty of bad coaches who've had long careers hopping from 1 place to the next. Refer Lamo Kiffin , so your logic there needs some work!



If Aiken personally can close any of those guys I'd be shocked, perhaps we should let Coach Neal and Coach Chinander do all the closing, they seems to get the job done!

I would also add that if we get Manu and Kaumatule that has a hell of a lot more to do with our Island pipeline and sense of family structure for these kids than any recruiting our coaches have done. Hawaii has been very good to us and Marcus and Buckner may be the biggest reason why!

no no no, you're not being a little shit here. I particularly appreciate how instead of posing like you know things you could guess at, you're asking a question.

I am hardly an authority on the HS prospects, none of us are, but I'm happy to share the little I do know and will speculate on some gray areas. Are you asking how many of these are Nose Tackles or down lineman for their front 3? If the question is NTs, Manu, Green, Beckner & Gallimore probably all can project there. Ude is probably the next most likely. Of the rest of the guys I mentioned, only Keisean and possibly Sweat project in their Drop End spot. The rest would most likely play with their hand down in the DLine spots currently manned by DeForest & Arik. Projecting positions is always a guess for fans as the coaches by NCAA rules can't comment on individual recruits until signing day in February, and Coach Rad (the strength and conditioning coach) has proven to be very adept at metamorphosing guys physiques dramatically.

None of these listed prospects have committed to Oregon (yet), and only Rex Manu, Green & Carlberg have visited. Most are from far enough away to require a plane flight and it's not until the fall of their Sr. year that the school can pick up that bill during the Official Visit period. I don't know about you, but I didn't have an extra 400-1000$ to visit a college over a weekend while in HS and I bet it's the same for most of these kids. Whats exciting is that they're scheduled to come. It's been my prediction for a couple seasons that this would be the offseason that they land a couple of top DLine talents as available playing time is finally on the horizon. In past years prospects were probably looking at 2 seasons of none to few snaps because of the depth chart. Should be a fun February

Now being the Lipton kind of guy you claim to be, how many of these kids you think commit with the way we use DT's here at Oregon? While studying those leaves did you find it interesting that we are still trolling JC's and offering because many think Green, South and Iman are already silent to USC? Sweat most think wont leave the east along with Cowart and NEITHER is a DT. That leaves Manu and Kaumatule at the positions of need and hopefully we score here! Thank our Hawaiian players for that, not Mr. "can't be found" Aiken who you still defend as a great recruiter and football mind based on his years. Quirky I've never heard his name mentioned with great D lines anywhere have you? He does get quite a nice paycheck in fact I think more than Pellum and Oneal.... Does that seem odd to you? What do your tea leaves tell you about that? I think this guys is milking a sweet amount of money and laying up on his recruiting and coaching endeavors. For being a pro D line coach you'd think our line would be better huh?

As for Gallimore who I think is the best DT hopeful prospect we've had in years, he's still a super long shot.....

What I think is funny is you keep saying to have this kind of talent even coming to the campus is such an amazing feat, why? This isn't the 90's anymore. Unless you've missed the last 5 years, Oregon has become a national brand! Coming here just to see what this is all about has been of paramount need to many top recruits from coast to coast. Many just want to tell their buddies they saw our great facilities and got a product grab!

Great D line coaches and scheme will get top players. Our D ranks 95th or worse..

That said...

My long shot is Green and I hope USC drops a few more games to solidify his Quack. Make no mistake Oregon should be in panic mode to get DT's this year, and with so many in the top 100 why we haven't gotten 1 should be very telling!

you're off the rails from the opening salvo and then go full Thelma and Louis. I'm going to address the opening silliness & then wave bye bye at the vapors rather then try to make sense of the resulting wreck that is your post. They signed two true Freshman DTs & one NT in the last cycle alone. Arriving at UO at 6'2 300 what do you think Maloata came to do, star at Corner Back? Like a whole lot of young Ducks in the past (including Buckner who at least you're finally admitting is a DT), they'll need seasoning and Coach Rad's guidance to become all they can be, but my guess is that history continues to repeat itself and these guys turn out to be solid players. Yes players continue to graduate/move on, this isn't a news flash for anyone, it's the cyclical nature of college football.

Oregon still doesn't accept a player's commitment until they visit and this fall is the first time many of those I listed have that opportunity. An opportunity to play early on a national powerhouse is available for the first time in years, so of course there is interest... and apparently a whole lot more then available spots. It's a big deal when players visit Oregon as historically they've received commitments from about 50% of the kids who take Official Visits.

Again, for those of us rooting for Oregon to do well, these continue to be exciting times.
