Not going to trust some random reporter who misspelled "We hope to god portland doesnt' match because they owe us for Billy King gifting them Lillard". Guy doesnt' cover our team nor has he ever so how would he have intel on if we match or not?

what an awful couple days for Blazer fans, I am OK with the ET signing bit everything else seems to be going to shit

Since we're shopping at the nba retirement community now, do you think we'll turn around and offer Dirk the same deal we did Pau when Pau goes to the Spurs? I know we have even less of a chance of getting Dirk, but it would be interesting to see if they try.

Gotta say, this is a pretty brilliant (and evil) move by the Golden State Moving Screens:

I assume that someone posted this somewhere, but I'm too lazy to look:

Cole Aldrich headed for Minnesota

Free-agent big man and Minnesota native Cole Aldrich has reached agreement on a three-year, $22 million deal with theMinnesota Timberwolves, according to league sources. The six-year vet averaged 5.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 60 games for the Los Angeles Clippers last season.

So, we can cross that off of our consolation wish list.

There isn't a consolation list anymore

The only way this is bad news is if it means we keep the Myth

Jerry West: "Don't be like me, a universally revered icon who spent his entire career with one franchise and became its face and also literally the symbol of the NBA, be like Robert Horry!"
Seriously, KD's rings would be so tainted for joining the Warriors. His legacy would be 100% bitch. At least when LeBron left Cleveland he had a legit reason... You know, not having any real talent around him... It's not like OKC has starved him from having good-great teammates.

If Durant leaves for GSW, where does that leave OKC? Yeah it makes the Warriors tougher but I think we move up in the standings.

The Warriors losing to Cleveland gave him the opening for it not to be tainted. Which was why I wanted the Warriors to repeat this year.

Aldrich for only 7 mil? We paid more than double that for Turner, and I'd much rather have had Aldrich. Why didn't we sign him?
I've mentioned many times how I wanted Aldrich, but the fact that he signed in Minnesota says something to me: he doesn't want to be a starter. He just took a below-market-value deal to play behind the rookie of the year and the league's next presumptive superstar. He likely could have had a starting job in one of several places, and he chose to consign himself to 15 mpg. Tells me that he doesn't view himself as highly as I and others did.

I'm not going to worry about missing out on guys like that.

To be fair, Aldrich is from Minnesota. Maybe he took less to play for his hometown team. Can't blame him for that.

Could be. Also could be that he thinks the Wolves have a bright future and he wants to be a part of it. Either line of thinking is reasonable, but certainly not typical of a 27-year-old who's likely never going to be able to command a bigger contract than he can right now.

I stand by my conclusion: he's not an alpha, and doesn't want to be a starting NBA center. If he did, he would have gone elsewhere.

Or maybe he just didn't get an offer to start anywhere else. Maybe 7 million a year was his market.

To early in the FA period for a center to settle for less than half of what Mahinmi got and think that market value was settled.

At this point maybe we should just take on Koufus for nothing and match our FA, I know everyone wants this reunion...

All I'm saying is its all speculation. Who would have started him?

IIRC, CJ's brother was on that team and is currently a guard in the Turkish League

Of course it's speculation. I never claimed otherwise.

Who could he start for? Charlotte? Phoenix maybe? Not sure, but there's zero chance of him staring in Minnesota. If nowhere else, I'm sure he would start here, after we're done striking out on players using us as leverage to get better deals from the teams they actually want to play for.

I don't expect you to agree with me, nor do I really care if you do. But I have reasons for the conclusion to which I came.

Aldrich is not better than either of our centers. Don't care what his advanced stats say. Too small of a sample. And how do you know he took less anyway?

Much like your unequivocal declaration that Aldrich isn't better than either of our centers, my belief that he took less than market value is just that: a belief, not a fact. However, my belief is actually supported by data, whereas yours is in spite of it. But that's fine; to each their own.
