Popovic saying Spurs need youth and athleticism

Yeah, which is just as scary in some ways. Too little size, strength, or rim protection for my liking. If that's the best we can do then I'd truly rather just see a blockbuster trade go down where we sacrifice some depth for a guy like Cousins.

Can we stop, for the love of everything, talking about Cousins? It would take CJ, at minimum.

A bunch of draft picks and a few of our young guys could potentially get it done. We'd likely need someone to break out a little more this upcoming season before the Kings would really entertain the idea (Vonleh, Leonard, Harkless), but I don't think the Kings are trading Cousins anyways until he absolutely demands it. Will probably happen in the next year.

It's a trade with massive "blow up in your face" potential, but I'd make that deal without a second thought.

If they put him on the market they will get some very good offers, we will have to offer CJ to match.

With Mahinmi and Aldrich now gone I think it's safe to say Portland are not going to get a center. Baffling to say the least, reminds me of the times when Man Utd needed a midfielder but Ferguson would consistently refuse to bring one.

Because those are the only two options. I can name at least 5 centers better than those two that could probably be had in a trade.

If only we had the same success as United under Ferguson...

Poor Portland fans who have guys they like but then Olshey passes on which in there eyes makes him a bum -- could fans be anymore stupid.

I got a question for all those who are really hating on Olshey right now -- What FA moves has he made since with the Blazers have turned into a disaster ?

i cannot think of any so while you may not like who Olshey has targeted and/or signed his track record with the Blazers speaks for itself.

If this is the only criterion then you could get maximal success by never signing anyone.

Two years is nothing. I'd be okay with that.

Rather have Boban, but have to admit that even an old Pau is probably a better defender.
20 mil per at 36? I guess POR has to overpay higely for FA's, hope this is not true

I know really. That style of argumentation is annoying, where a question is posed as though the veracity of the item in debate hinges on that answer.
That is one of the few contract Portland would have been able to absorb without losing any of their RFAs if they didn't want to.

If that is the case, who are we saying good-by to? https://www.blazersland.com/what-are-the-options-now/

Hmm...I would think Meyers Leonard. Why would they get Gasol if they wanted Meyers to be the guy? I hope we retain Harkless and Crabbe.

:blazerwookie::dancepenguin:I hope the Lakers make a run at Crabbe. :breakdance:

This is classic S2. Now everyone is bitching about giving Gasol too much, when you were just complaining about no one wanting to come here.

Guess what. WE WILL NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO SIGN FA'S NEXT YEAR. Gasol makes us better the next two seasons and allows Vonleh to continue to develop without being thrown to the fire.

Money doesn't fucking matter to us when you have Paul Allen and CJ/Dame salaries taking a jump.

Why don't we all take a collective breath and hope Pau comes here and makes us an even more exciting team to watch? It ain't your money and we're going to be up against the LT anyways.

Olshey is not dumb...he's proven that to us many times. Worst case we will renounce Meyers and find a way to clear up any remaining space needed to add Pau without hurting us talent wise.

Only if the "young guys" include Lillard and CJ.
Cousins may be the best center in the league, and centers are the hardest players to come by.

He is the best center in the league and still has never been in the playoffs. It shows you how low on the priority list centers should be for us to worry about. Never again should we ever consider a top center (Oden) over a scoring wing.

Fuck that. I hate watching guys who can't play defense. What's so entertaining about watching a guy get pick and rolled to death?

Hi Neil Olshey.

Our bigs don't extend on pick n rolls at all. Gasol wouldn't have to move.
