2016 NBA Draft mega thread

I don't think Portland is going to lose enough games to get a high draft pick. Coming into the season, I predicted we'd finish very close to .500, and so far, this still looks like a .500 team to me. We're 7-10, but 1-4 in games decided by 5 points or less. And the West is not looking as strong as advertised....so they might even eek into the playoffs.

That shouldn't come as any surprise. We can't guard anyone on the perimeter, and we're only marginally better than last year's reveal that we have no answer for trapping Lillard when he brings it up court. Unless Dame and CJ are hot simultaneously, they can lock us down for a few possessions late in the game while we can't stop them. That's going to lose you more close games than it will win.

Denzel Valentine is ballin!

20.3 PPG | 9.3 RPG | 9.2 APG | 45 3P% | 35 PER

Early POY candidate.

Valentine is one of those 4-year Senior's who is coming into their own after developing in college and could contribute right away like Roy/Lillard. 6'10" wingspan is nice as well.

Kris Dunn has some DWade in him. Might have gone lottery if he came out last year-- no way he's dropping below top 10 this year.

Eye opening.

If we don't get Simmons, I wouldn't be disappointed if we got Murray. He's got a chance to be really good. Though I am still bitter about him not picking Oregon. [emoji35]

Reading more about Dragan. Man, what an intriguing prospect. A seven footer with handle and a shot, and quick feet who can also protect the rim. However, he is 17, skinnier than KD at Texas and has a messy contract to get out of from Maccabi. Nbadraft.net has him going to us @ #7 today.

Perhaps it's a bit of Kristapsitis but I'm slowly jumping back on the pro-Euro bandwagon.

@Rastapopoulos have you watched him play live?

No, and actually it's been a bit hard as he's been riding the pine a bit (unlike fellow Euro-prospects Timothe Luwawu and Aleksandar Vesenkov). But his coach is famous for developing young talent, so it's probably okay.

He makes me think of a taller Kukoc. He certainly won't be able to play PF as a rookie (unlike Porzingis). But if anything he's a more intriguing long-range prospect.

Just watch Valentine from Michigan st. This kid is the real deal and he can play point foward right now he is top 10 player.

25/7/5 against another Top-25 team after a Triple Double against Top-5 Kansas earlier.

Ben Simmons tonight - 43 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals, and 3 blocks. Like that type of versatility would help this team.

When does it become time to cut ties with our infatuation with Simmons. Is it realistic that he doesn't go #1? Would Philly trade Simmons' upside for anyone on our roster outside of Damian Lillard?

I guess you could see a #1 for #? + Player(s)

No one will trade for him but you have to hope that you have a realistic shot at getting him and getting lucky to get the #1 pick....probably Top-5.

If Portland gets the #1 pick, they better not fuck it up.

Jakob Poeltl has started out strong:

21 PPG | 10 RPG | 2.3 BPG | 69 TS% | 40 PER

For me? Never. I'll always get to watch him play for Australia. :ghoti:

When Philly coach Brett Brown was head coach of the Australian Men's National Team, he selected a 17 year old Ben Simmons for the team. So Philly's coach Brown already has experience coaching Simmons (as well as Simmon's dad Dave).

I dig Ellenson. He'd be a great addition to our talent pool.

Skal has been touted as a top-2 pick but he isn't at all that impressive.

He's about to turn 20 and he's a freshman. Very skinny and loves the mid-range shot.

I see LMA as his ceiling.

NBAdraft.net dropped him to #7 -- DX dropped him from #1 to #3

Yes he really need to get stronger he might need another season in college I know that properly won't happen but he needs it.

I really like ben simmons but we probably won't get the 1st pick. I really like brandon ingram or jaylen brown. i rather have ingram since he remind so much of kevin durant when he was in college. skinny, but can shoot the light out. I also think we should take a look at gary payton the 2nd. i think he can truly stop curry like his dad was able to stop MJ.
