DX moves Chriss all the way up to #3! Do they have intel? There is no reason to move him from #14 all the way up to #3 without some kind of inside info.

Offensively he's an intriguing prospect but his rebounding is atrocious.

Atrocious.

Per40 he averages 4.5 rpg. For a big that's one of the worst in DX's database ...ever.

He's has the potential to be a Paul Millsap type player. Surprises me, but at the same time it doesn't.

Markieff Morris type on offense.

Milsap came into the league after leading the nation in rebounding for three straight seasons - the only college player to ever do that.

Except for Rebounding. Just from and offensive/defensive aspect.

Milsap is an ox and sneaky athletic.

Chriss is more explosive than Morris but their skillset offensively are comparable.

Imo.

papa is gunna get a tech for hanging on the rim like that in the nba

maybe myeres needs to change his number back to 12...

Bembry is the latest riser - Detroit is seriously considering him at #18.

Quite the leap pre-combine where he was projected to go mid-second at best.

I would figure Neil would bring players in for work out. He might be already have his targets if they fall where he think they go he will try to pull the trigger by getting in the draft. If not he will hold until FA.

Just seems odd, doesn't it? Seems the workouts are worth it just to get to know the player better. Maybe they are doing this some other way; I always get the impression that Olshey doesn't want other GM's to know who he is looking at.

I think he already have his targets who he likes and might be going other places looking at these players.

It though I remember hear how Olshey talked about players not wanting to come in so he was going to workouts. I will try to find it.

This is from his press conference after the season.

Without a pick, how do you approach the draft?

We always have a draft pick. We work for Paul Allen. The next priority is getting Terry's staff re-signed. But that's paperwork and negotiation. As far as what you guys need to be interested in, it's the draft. I watched Game 5 in Chicago at the combine. I know some people questioned why we needed to be there if we don't have a pick. It was even more essential that I was there. Anybody know why?

Because we're not going to get guys to come to Portland. You can't ask agents to send guys ... 30 teams tell guys, 'Hey, we're getting a pick. You should get your guys to work out.' It just doesn't happen. So it was critical that my staff and I were there, were meeting (with prospects). The league did a great job this year. There were multiple guys who are probably going to go in the first round participating in Chicago. A lot of second-round picks. It's a deep draft. We're always going to be involved when you work for Paul because he's always looking for an influx of talent. Again, going back to the coaches, they are going to develop our young guys. So we're more apt to take fliers on guys because we know they have a chance to become NBA players. That's the next priority. We approach it no differently.

So are there any PIs out there who can track where Olshey has been & if PA has been to the city during the same time?

Neil is wrong about players not coming to Portland and work out. I believe we always had players come in and work out even the year we didn't have draft pick. I believe he already has which players he likes and they fall where he thinks they will go he will try trade in if not then we will stand fast.

I don't think he fits in Detroit as they need shooters.. Buy his rise doesn't sorrow me. The only hole in his game is his jumpshot but his shot isn't RHJ or MKG bad.

That's exactly what the Knicks are doing and it's working out just fine. By the time of the draft the Knicks will have worked out 20 prospects. Outside Porzingis their assets are complete garbage.

Why would the Blazers waste time working guys out when they've already promised Sabas Jr?

I trust the Blazers front office over the Knicks until proven otherwise. If there is one thing you can be sure of is Neil has a plan and contingencies for said plans. He comes across as one of those guys that makes a list of lists he needs to make.

The MF's name is Mega? Like Mega man?

He's the real Mega Man?
Sorry, no - that's the name of the team. They seem to be a talent factory at the moment, as at least three of their current players are very likely to be drafted. They also have the worst color sense of any team anywhere:

I actually wish NBA teams would be so daring. I'd rather watch the pink & green than the Cavs "wine and gold". The NBA got three "new" teams fairly recently (OKC, NOP, BKN) and they all failed hard with their branding, IMO. BKN was the most successful, but also played it the safest by being so utterly boring.

Mega Leks uniforms would look slightly less garish if they didn't mis-match the jersey and the shorts. But then, that's also why they're so damned eye-catching.

Hmm. I do think there should be striped shirts (not the stupid Magic pinstripes, ACTUAL stripes) a la Barcelona, AC Milan or Newcastle. But those colors...

this makes me think someone should do 3d uni's. it would hurt your eyes to watch them play unless you wore the 3d glasses.

I fucking hate Magic's "pinstripes" - absolutely awful.

But yeah, it would be interesting if someone successfully incorporated pattern into an NBA jersey. With selloutking mentioning 3D I thought of tessellated parallelograms, like this:

Or maybe get Barry McGee to design an NBA uni!

Fawk!

Sabonis has a workout scheduled with the Raptors this week.
