Give it a rest. As if any candidate or related persons is 100% truthful. Nobody in politics is and the quicker you realize that the better. It was literally two sentences in a damn speech. People steal shit from others all the time. Its the nature of this corrupt political dance they do.

I tell you what though, some speech writer either is getting fired for being way to obvious, and or sabotage.

Apparently it's Hillary Clinton's fault

First, in a serious campaign, major speeches are checked and re-checked and re-re-checked. I don't give a talk to 10 colleagues without going over it 4 or 5 times.

Second, Ms. Trump said she wrote it herself which is clearly not true and which the campaign manager denied.

Third, people hear things, remember them, then years later the words come back and sometimes they don't realize it's something they heard before. Happens. What you do in that case is apologize, admit error, can the person who SHOULD have checked. Do that, the story goes away, a low level staffer goofed. What you do NOT do is double down, insist it's not plagiarized, and blame someone else.

Fourth, the embarrassment is that for 8 years we have heard both Obamas demonized, Michelle was "angry black woman", some RWNJ sites even say she's a man in disguise, kid you not. So this horrible despicable un-American person is the one whose words you crib? Either she's not really horrible or you just copied from a horrible despicable un-American person. When the whole world is watching, a serious person does not make those kinds of flubs.

Yep, Melania's a liar and a fraud. If only she were a Democrat, she could be the nominee herself. :devilwink:

Funny, Platypus, I did not say she's a fraud. Fact optional, again. But you know, if you say "I did X" and then it's revealed someone else did X, it's reasonable to say the statement is a lie.

Figured I'd briefly drop in on board. Figured wrong. If you have to make shit up to be nasty, make shit up, right?

I honestly don't even give a shit. Obama stole a persons speech, who cares. Melanie stole a persons speech who cares. It's rather amusing that there is so much hoopla about 2 to 3 sentences.

I will say though, the best part is, she Rick-Rolled everyone.

The use of we are the champions by the GOP convention was unauthorized...big surprise...should be considered pirating.

Who's making stuff up? I wasn't being nasty, or implying you said anything. I'm the one calling her a fraud, because I don't believe a word of any of the excuses being peddled out there by her or on her behalf. She plagiarized and is lying about it. The last part comparing her to Hilary was just a harmless wisecrack (hence the devil wink).

It's unfortunate that you take my comments so seriously, when they are anything but. I'm trying to use humor to build bridges here, but for some reason you insist on turning them into walls.

This whole thing is insane. In fucking sane.

They really think this shit will play in 2016?

It is clown town at the highest level.

About the plagarized speech, I learned in elementary school how to change things I plagarized enough that it wasn't so fucking obvious. How stupid are these people?

From your link:

The Massachusetts governor said in a statement: “Sen. Obama and I are longtime friends and allies. We often share ideas about politics, policy and language. The argument in question, on the value of words in the public square, is one about which he and I have spoken frequently before.

I'm guessing that Michelle won't be making that same statement about Melania.

I gotta agree. And even though I vote Repub, I still think they (their speech writers) and to some extent Melanie are complete idiots for not changing some of the wordings. But again, I literally don't understand why its such a big deal. These people (Michelle O. and Melanie T. ) do not mean dick to the United States as a whole. They aren't running and have no influence on the country whatsoever. It's not like the other sides' shit don't stink.

What's worse lying to the FBI and getting caught (while running for POTUS), or plagiarizing and getting caught? (while being a candidates wife) :)

It is just so stupid. She should have said "four score and seven years ago......."

Is Saturday Night Live filming currently? I gotta good idea for them.

Have Michelle Obama give a speech about how despite her husband's wacky hair she married him anyway because he is rich.

First off, the FBI specifically said she didn't lie to them.

But here's why Melania's speech matters.

1. Donald Trump doesn't know shit about governing, public policy, foreign policy, the economy, etc..

2. That's supposedly ok, because Donald Trump is going to hire great, really great, the best people to help him.

3. Donald Trump didn't actually hire really, really great people for the campaign. He hired his kids and random golf caddies and people with questionable backgrounds.

4. As a result, his campaign is a rolling dumpster fire, and nobody even thought to supervise the speechwriting.

5. If he can't staff his own campaign, why should we expect him to be able to staff the executive branch well? Note that a campaign is much more similar to a business (his supposed strength) than the government is to a business.

So in conclusion, The Donald doesn't know shit about doing the job, and he's highly likely to hire incompetent friends/family/fringe characters to help him.

That's why Melania's speech matters. It's a symptom, not the problem.

Thank you sir

Trump is officially the Republican Nominee...and the delegate to bring him over the top, was from New York, and was of course, his son little Donnie

Anyone watch Futurama? I don't remember if they explained when suicide booths came to be but this election might be the Skynet, Terminator type shit that causes mass suicides.

That makes the plagiarism all better, NOT!

Goose. Gander.

I very much doubt that someone accidentally copied parts of Mrs Obama's speech. Seems like this was done intentionally to fuck with Trump.

I'm starting to think with the logo, the 60 minutes interview, and now this, the whole Trump campaign is really a new Christopher Guest movie. Just waiting for Joaquin Phoenix to make an appearance.

Your kind set the bar VERY low.

Oops!

Either that or they just thought they wouldnt get caught. Blue32 is right though, it really shouldnt matter but it does show there is some poor judgment by those in the campaign

It's not like she ordered a drone to kill a hundred civilians or ordered a country to be bombed. Those things are far less important than the similarities of a couple of sentences in the two speeches.

If the facts aren't on your side, bang the table.

I agree with the first paragraph.

Don Junior's speech was a little like Dwight's speech from The Office. Good speech though.

I agree with the first paragraph.

It's what the Democrats are doing, banging the table.

They did it last time, too. Binders of women (bang the table) to obscure Benghazi (a foreign policy disaster that would have hurt Obama's chances if they told the truth about it).

So Melania's speech was plagiarized from Michelle Obama's, big surprise. I watched the speech just see what Melania would look like giving one...answer, a cold unaffectionate robot, who looked between two teleprompters on either side of the crowd to try and make it seem as if she were actually looking at people...

LOL, Barack Obama is the indisputable king of plagiarism. Here are some well-known examples:
