This is a legit weak draft as far as the first round goes if you are looking for obvious, all around high end talent. I would think the Rangers will be looking for a player with one particular skill that fits the team. Either one of the fastest skaters. Or a guy who can be a dynamic faceoff or powerplay guy. I think they might go with the small, 5'8 kid Kailer Yamamoto if he's there. Dynamic offensively and that is what he does. Rangers have lots of big, dumb forwards with no clue how to finish. They also need Zucc's replacement eventually.

Not sure if he will be there. I seriously hope they don't go for a defenseman with their first pick.

Things change now. I suspect they will go for a big, tough, gritty centerman who can win faceoffs and has good offensive upside.

Though, this kid Tippet fits exactly what the team loves and he's a righty shot on the wing

Pure goal scoring speedster who is work in progress. He has size very good size, and girth, and besides the great speed, he can be a threat from anywhere inside the attack zone. Displays both a strong slapper and wrist shot. Will release the puck from what seems like low percentage angles and find the back of the net. Might have gained too much muscle and weight with the 18 pounds he added...it has reduced his pure foot speed a bit, but it does help in his puck possession battles. Needs to read the situations and hit the mark with his shots, not just let fly with reckless abandon. Terrific PP cannon, but he still needs to develop his on ice reads away from shoot, shoot and shoot and also survey his options. Could develop more defensive commitment and work away from the puck.

If they could get Heiskanen that would be great for our D. Rasmussen looks like a force with his 6'6 size. Tolvinen is a shifty Finn.

Whoever they take at 7 will be a good pick up for us

Dreger just reported we are offering 7 + 21 for the 3rd overall pick

If this kid Glass makes to the NHL with Vegas, I will always think of the other Glass every time he plays against the Rangers...lol

I love this pick. Swedes are always safe picks. Two swedes in the middle for years to come is not bad.

Andersson is an excellent team player. Never takes a shift off. Also blessed with good hockey sense and plays a strong two-way game. Offensively, Andersson stands out with impressive puck skills, a good shot and fine speed. Has the tools to become a scoring line player, but could also become an excellent role player who always gives 100%.

Scored 19 points in 42 games in Swedish Elite league as 18 year old. Not bad.

Yeah he looks like a solid player, maybe it wasn't too much of a reach.

Probably wont put up 80 points but will be a very good contributor in top six for years to come.

Does alot of things well it seems. Should be a 20-25g guy.

Seems like we drafted two similar players. Both very good skaters and play a 200 ft. game. Play O and D. Let's hope they pan out.

Now we turn our attention to using the 23 mill in cap space we have. Dmen and at least one C (and a backup G) I am sure will be forthcoming. With the right adds we can be in a good spot moving forward with flexibility and youth.

If he turns out like a Palat that's a nice pick. He's young but there seems alot of upside.

I liked Glass, I get it that he was obviously gone.. I don't mind Andersonn but would have rather had Yamamoto at 21

the czech kid was a safer pick than Yamamoto. They seemed to want to go the save route. Not sure why the oilers needed more offensive guys.

Two more lefty shots. Rangers seem to never want to draft any right handed shots. They played it very conservatively with their first round picks. Without first rounders they were swinging for the fences with a lot of their picks the past few years. Their 1st round selections tell me they don't believe they can afford any mistakes with their top picks because the farm sucks with the forwards right now.

Both guys have decent size - Andersson 5'11", 201 and Chytil 6"2, 192. I've had enough of the little guys, few play like Zucc.

They were trying to trade up to 3 to get a defenseman. While the reports on that guy were great, that would have been a huge mistake IMO. The system has plenty of talented D guys. Rangers get way too caught up in drafting defenseman. The system is poor with forwards right now. Also, as I said before, a good amount of forwards on this team are dumb, have a low hockey IQ, don't have great motors and are inconsistent. The guys they took are the exact opposite of that.

You figure Andersson and Chytil were overdrafted slightly but it's not a huge deal if Clark and i guess Kallur really liked them. Maybe they could've traded back a few spots but there's no guarantee the same player would be there at 15 or 16. I think Andersson will be a very good player who puts up 50 pts. Chytil is perhaps riskier but his upside is high.

They were weak at center so Gorton addressed the situation at draft time and deserves a lot of credit for the cap cutting moves he made. I would think either guy will end up with better faceoff numbers than Stepan if he makes it to the Show.
