Yikes. Guys that big, that's scary.

The team actually played together in his abscence. Last year they would have got their butt's kicked. Amazing! They at least have enough talent on their own to be competative.

Why does this say it's a "Game Thread"when it's dated Nov 20th?

I was just listing things they have that the NBA doesnt. I thought we were comparing overall quality.

It's the normal thing to hate on college ball. I feel like people just look for reasons to dislike it and/or cant get over the fact that they're not as good as NBA players.

I find that a lot of my friends prefer college ball. They do not see hate with NBA comparison. In my opinion, the possible basis is>>> Contempt for NBA players who make millions for minutes paid, college true athletic spirit from the team and it's fan base, good college rivalries (especially in the Phila/NY region, great looking female cheer leaders and it costs less to sit in a seat or stand in a concession line. I also have heard fans complimenting team effort and love of the game from Princeton Tiger fans. I live near Princeton and can attest that this has been the case for years.

>Princeton vs Penn.
> The IVY league rivalries!
>Duke/North Carolina is more substantial that a Hornets play whoever game.

Im not sure what it proves that there are nba prospects in college? Cause thats pretty obvious...
I dont know what to tell you. You think College is better, I think the NBA is better. Just two dudes with an opinion. :dunno:

Your view is class and sets the backbone of this forum. When a poster responds to your opinion with "What the Fuck are you talking about" and mocks your opinion and still persists to insert his own, I ignore that individual because they live in the troll world.

Are you insinuating I just did that...?

I just want to say that I really do like a lot of things with College basketball. I have a lot of nit picks, but overall it can be a fun experience. I still stand by there are some excruciatingly bad games in college, but those exist in the NBA too. I still enjoy the NBA product more, and I could list a lot of reasons why. A lot of it comes down to I don't really have a "team" to cheer for, I like a few teams and a well coached college team can be fun to watch. Overall I just think your reasons for loving college ball are fine, those are your reasons, I don't have to agree with them or all of them. Just as my reasons for liking or disliking something doesn't really need to be approved by someone else. I respect how much you enjoy college basketball, and your views on the sport in general.
When good teams and nba prospects are playing each other I do enjoy watching that.

Never you!. but there is one in here that fits that role and I have never seen him compliment anyone, only chide the population. I won't mention names and that's not my style.
I thought you were referencing something in this thread, haha.

You can agree with them and they could be irrelevant enough reasons to you that they dont matter to you too. I dont care. People just act like it's not a very high level of basketball because it's not the NBA. That's false. Just seems like people (not necessarily you) search for reason to not enjoy it (An example though, would be a 30 second shot clock instead of 24, IMO).

Im simply discussing your reasoning. No philosophical stuff needed, I know I dont have to approve your reasoning or whatever, and you can disagree. Literally doesnt matter to me, just discussing the reasoning since I dont really see it.

I think 30 seconds is too much, 24 might even be a little much at times. My reasoning is that watching a team reset 3-4 times in one possession seems like too much. Its hard enough to ask a team to play good defense (not lose an assignment, get hung up on a screen, get beat off the dribble, etc) for 24 seconds is it nit picky? Sure. Its not the “main reason” why i like the NBA better, its just one of them.

Like I said I think the main reason really comes down to I am not really emotionally invested in a team. Where as with the NBA Im really into Blazer games, but also I love watching and “scouting” other NBA teams because I like to figure out ways that if I was coaching the Blazers Id attack them when they play.

Im an Oregon fan I guess, but Im just not really emotionally invested in it.

Of course I like Blazer games better than anything. Im simply talking about games on both levels that I have no emotional investment in. Scouting the way other teams play takes a lot of time, IMO, so it's easier to just refer to stats.
Scouting individuals in college is easier and is more valuable than simply looking at stats.

I really do enjoy when good college teams play each other. Like the Duke / Gonzaga game earlier this year. Or the Tenn / Gonzaga a weekish ago. Good games. I think Gonzaga has a few legit NBA guys so when they play good teams thats fun.

I also find it more fun to watch teams in february then in november / december. In College most teams need time to figure out how to play with each other. Especially freshmen heavy squads.

Too bad Gonzaga won't face another good team until March haha.

This Duke vs. Texas Tech game is a great matchup. Texas Tech is 10-0 and looking like one of the best teams in the country. They have a 2019 1st Round Pick in Jarrett Culver.

If only Zhaire Smith stayed and was healthy... They'd possibly be the best team in the nation.

I'm gonna flex for a second. Weak flex but IDGAF (who are you to tell me not to flex?!?!?)

Anyway, look at who's ranked 37th on NBADraft.Net. It's a Vancouver kid, who I happened to drop 16pts (on 7 shots) on in high school. If only I got to shoot more... Out here shooting 55% from the field, 40% from 3, and 85% from the line all season long...

I'll be at the Big12 tournament starting Thursday. Should be some good games. Texas Tech is the cream of the crop.
Yeah its funny how they were supposed to fall out.

I feel like they may be prime for an upset. I feel like a big, long, athletic defender can do a good job on Culver and I feel like if a team can shut him diwnz then they have a good chance to win.

They have to go through Kansas on their side of the bracket. The tournament is in Kansas City and pretty much only Kansas and Iowa State fans there. It will be like a home game for Kansas, so will be tough for Texas Tech.

Yeah but this is the wackiest Kansas team I've ever seen. I would be surprised to see a team like Iowa State or Kansas State win.

Also, there needs to be a good Western Conference made up of:
Gonzaga
Wichita State
San Diego State
Saint Mary's
SMU
BYU
UNLV
New Mexico
Northern Iowa
Creighton
Nevada
San Francisco

That conference would be 10x better than the Wack-12.

Definitely, Kansas is not typical Kansas this year. Iowa State usually does well at the Big12 tournament and I hope we can again this year, but we seem to be a broken team right now, so disappointing. KState has been really tough, but Dean Wade is doubtful to play in the tournament right now. Without him, I don't think they have enough on the offensive end to win it all. It really is Tech's to lose.

That is a very solid bball conference! In a good year that conference could get 5+ bids to the tournament.
