14th pick has no salary value, so since Faried's 2017-18 salary is under $13M, yes the TPE is large enough.

They absolutely need to be looking into this then if Woj is right. They could probably package the two picks and move up to get one of the Bridges, Knox, or maybe even Porter if he falls. Faried could probably replace Davis too and his contract runs out when Turner's and Leonard's does anyway.

Actually, it runs out a year sooner--it expires next summer. Another reason to do the deal, IMO.

They like trading with Denver too, but it makes too much sense to actually happen.

I wonder what it would mean for Davis. I guess it depends on what they would do with the picks. If they used them I could see Ed staying. Since Faried would be an expiring they could just buy him out at some point.

Surely, they'd keep Faried and his $13.8M expiring around in hopes to use him in another deal at the trade deadline.

Is our TPE big enough to absorb Faried's deal along with the 14th pick?
If we could, we have to make that deal. I'd even toss in our 24th Pick into that deal.

I think this could work:
POR Gets: 9th Pick, Courtney Lee (TPE)
NYK Gets: 14th Pick, 2019 POR 1st, Kenneth Faried, Caleb Swanigan
DEN Gets: 24th Pick

Or:
POR Gets: 9th Pick, 10th Pick, Joakim Noah, Jerryd Bayless, Kenneth Faried (TPE)
NYK Gets: 14th Pick, Maurice Harkless, Meyers Leonard, Caleb Swanigan
DEN Gets: #38, #39, Future POR 2nd
PHI Gets: #24, 2019 POR 1st

$20 says the Spurs draft him.

What are your views on Rodions Kurucs?

I thought he was worth taking a chance on last year in the 20-30 range. His current stock suggests that he's firmly in the second round this year.

Strong showing at the pro-day has him rising a bit though. He also measured out at 6'10" as well.

Evidently Woj said teams are scared off by porters injury so much that he has him falling to 15? Is this true? Anyone think he’s working for Olshey here lol.

I can't really see him slipping past the double picks of LAC at 12 and 13 unless his back is completely fucked. How great would the Denver trade be if we got Porter Jr at 14 though.

Outside of Bamba, Porter is the dream.

I would hate giving up Davis but if this is possibility, I think you have to do it.

Career Stats:
Player....Age...MPG....Pts...Rebs...Blks...FG%...FT%
Davis.....28.....20.6.....6.6....6.5.....0.9... .564... .579
Farid.....28......24.9....11.4....8.2....0.8... .543... .655

Farid's production is quite a bit higher than Ed's although in a different role. Farid's minutes declined last season but his production in those minutes remained about the same. If I'm getting a Lottery pick in addition, that just seems like an opportunity the Blazers have to improve in an off-season they don't have a lot of options.

If you make this move, you must believe the following.
Nurk is going to be ready game 1.
He will stay out of foul trouble, he will stay engaged for 48 minutes over 82.
Or
You believe Collins is ready to play backup Center when Nurk isn't engaged.
OR
And if you believe this one... I'll call you swish3.
You believe Nards is going to be ready to play.

Edit.
Faried is good defensively against lesser competition in the Worlds.
But against NBA competition... Seriously doubt his ability to do what Davis did.
So you must believe one of those three scenarios if you bring in Faried to fill Davis' role.

I'm not someone who thinks Davis should or shouldn't be back.
I just know what I saw from Nurk last year.
If Nurk shows that again this year, and Portland doesn't have someone ready to step up and fill the void... Portland will struggle again to start the year.

Call me swish3 if you will--if we deal for Faried and let Davis go, I'd give Leonard 15 mpg.

1.) I don't think Nurk will be fully engaged/healthy for 82 games.
2.) Losing Davis would hurt....but then again, that would be losing Davis from a team that hasn't won a Playoff game in 2 years so it's a bit relative.
3.) Getting the Draft pick would be huge for this franchise and it's ability to move up, add talent or include one of their picks to move Turner's contract.
4.) Playing Nards for 15 minutes a game, every game is probably what he needs. Not saying he would be great but when given regular minutes (rare) he has produced to at least a decent level. That doesn't mean we won't still see Nard moments but it also means I wouldn't have to watch Davis clank FTs and not be able to shoot outside of 4'. (Love Ed's defense and attitude for what it's worth)

That's another $50 out of @honkicracker's account. We gon' make that dude go broke.

A Draft pick for one year of Farid's contract and his frenetic rebounding? Okay....I'm in. And it doesn't mean we can't possibly unload his contract by the deadline.

The more I think about this, the more I hope it happens. 2 Draft picks would help provide some much needed energy or allow the Blazers to move up which is what I would prefer.

There's a reason Faried doesn't play for the Nuggets. It's the same reason that Thomas Robinson never made it in the NBA.

Except that one of those players has an 8 year NBA career averaging 25 minutes and 8.2 rebounds per game.

Brings up memories of Walter Berry when he was player of the year and he dropped to coincidentally 14th and the Blazers selected him without ever interviewing him or working him out because he was expected top 5. The only good was that we got Duckworth for him as he was traded shortly after he was drafted. During his press conference he announced he would play the minimum years in Portland and will leave via free agency. Berry's was an attitude issue though not an injury.
