Seeing lots of "Draft Sleepers" articles bouncing around, so I thought I'd google articles written before the LAST draft. This one was pretty accurate:

http://www.basketballinsiders.com/six-nba-draft-sleepers/

and here's their list for this year:

If we had a second rounder, I'd be intrigued by the USC kid (who we had in for a workout - the tall one not De'Anthony)

McCoy is a lottery ticket -- if he falls as far as mocks have him falling, I'd be very excited to buy a pick and nab him.

I think I'm way higher on Diallo than most are too. I think he could be a legit starting 2 in this league -- would love to see us go for a couple "swing for the fences" guys like them.

enough upside as a starting SG to open up a possible CJ trade in the future.

:biglaugh:

Stop it. He can shoot that's it. He has no athleticism, NO defense, and is basically Allen Crabbe without the length or "athleticism".

3 and no D.

The Blazers won't have a first round pick in my estimation, so why bother?

That doesn't mean we won't be active on draft day. We'll either pick or we won't. If we move into the lottery there's a good reason to watch.

If we don't move into the lottery, we're still gonna find out what we do with our pick.

I’m hoping that we’re really active on draft day or the days leading up to it. These days, it doesn’t seem like they announce the trades until later, so it isn’t as much fun to watch as it used to be. I’ll probably have it on in the background while I work, but I’m not super-excited about it.

I think the part about staying in the high lottery is good to point out, for any of us thinking CJ to Memphis

Well who has the ability to take Parsons from them and offer high lottery pick?

Dallas makes no sense. They won’t take that deal to move up one spot. Orlando cannot take him. Chicago can. Cleveland and New York can’t. Philadelphia can. Charlotte can’t and we aren’t even in high lottery anymore now.

I think Phila will do it. They will know they aren’t getting LeBron by the time draft comes and they will want the second best prize, Doncic.

I think from the Blazers' perspective, CJ to Memphis won't happen without some other deal being in place to add an established star to the roster. Dame is looking for the addition of established players who can help the Blazers compete now, not in 3-4 years. If the Blazers made a move to trade CJ for a lottery pick, absent another deal for a proven star, they may as well trade Dame too and start over again. No way he's going to be content staying here and burning the prime of his career on a rebuild.

I imagine Philly is still hoping to preserve their cap space.

Cleveland could be an interesting option here. Several have suggested CJ/24 for Love/8. Others have suggested CJ for Parsons/4. Do you combine the deals? Do CJ/24 for Love/8, but also send Turner/8 to Memphis for Parsons/4?

Phila cannot use this cap space after this year. When Embiid’s new deal kicks in and Saric gets extension (which won’t be lower than $10M per season) it’s gone. If they don’t think they are getting George or LeBron this year they may as well use it to acquire an additional asset or, as per proposed scenario, move up.

Essentially what I mean to say is that Philadelphia wants to use their cap space in July, so they're unlikely to commit to a pre-draft deal that would require use of said space. By the time they actually have the cap space necessary to absorb Parsons, the draft will be two weeks past.

I don't see anyone actually having the space to take Parsons this week--some salary will have to go back to Memphis. Such as in the deal I was suggesting.

They cannot take on salary, can they?

And they don’t have high lottery picks either.
My interpretation of high lottery pick was larger number, aka the 12th or 13 picks.

Clips can make an unbalanced trade if they hold off til July 1.

Something like Parsons + 4 for Harris + 12 or 13

Thinking way outside the box... From Memphis' perspective, CJ and Meyers are both superstars. Can salary cap / trade machine gurus make any way for CJ + Meyers for Gasol + #4 pick work, along with needed filler on either side? It would create one hell of a front court logjam for us, put (but) Gasol plays so much on the perimeter nowadays, he and Nurk could make an interesting (and lethal) combo.

If the Grizz would go for that, you definitely do it.

Can’t see Grizzlies being happy saving just $7M a year for moving 4 spots down.
