While I love me some 2nd rounders, I feel that it's suboptimal to, when you don't have one b/c you traded it away, you trade two more to replace it.

Simons has a 1.5 inch standing reach advantage over Trent, so everyone complaining about Simons being undersized better do so with Trent.

Only makes sense for the right player.

Like Khyri Thomas.

We drafted two cheap replacements for pat and Napier on the roster. Now use the TPE a rotation player.

I’m still scratching my head when the Hawks just traded the best player in the draft Luka

So Gary Trent is a great shooter? Khyri Thomas one % better on threes and 10% better overall! That's not even close.

Well, if we think we're running with

C: Nurk, Meyers
PF: Collins, Ed
SF: Aminu, Hark

spending a late first and two future 2nds to solidify the backup backcourt (on 2 shooters, no less) for a while on the cheap can be useful.

Why are people all of a sudden putting Meyers back into the rotation?

Because he's the only one (aside from PapaG) who has a "C" next to his name? You didn't ask me for a minute breakdown.

I thought Trent underwhelmed this year, but for 2 second rounders what the heck. Nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Trent might be better pro than a college player. He can shoot the 3 ball so he fits Stotts offense perfect.

Well, we got 2.5M to spend still....can I buy a LiAngelo Ball? Think of all the good pub we'll get!

Gary Trent Draft Express: STRENGTHS -Has good size for the wing at 6'6 in shoes, with a strong 215 pound frame. 6'8 ½ wingspan is adequate, even to guard some small forwards -Has impressive scoring instincts. Knows how to put the ball in the basket. Hungry for points. Alpha dog mentality -Physical and aggressive player. Will crash the glass -Shot-maker who can get hot and hit a barrage of 3s both spotting up and off the dribble, even from NBA range -Can find success at times in the open floor and on straight-line drives -Can move his feet and stay in front when he's locked in and competing. Aggressive playing the passing lanes and has good instincts for coming up with steals

WEAKNESSES -Average athlete in terms of quickness and explosiveness -More of a shot-maker than a pure shooter. Very streaky, partially due to his poor shot-selection. Career 33.5% 3P% on over 450 attempts in DX database -Doesn't have much wiggle to his game. Wants to bulldoze his way through opponents. Relies heavily on his strength. Needs to add polish as a ball-handler. Ball slows him down. Wants to pull-up off the bounce at the first glimmer of daylight. -Reluctant passer. Never met a shot he didn't like. -Insistence on shooting long 2s, and below the rim style inside the paint makes him fairly inefficient scoring inside the arc -Inconsistent in his approach defensively. Doesn't always put enough pride in on this end of the floor. Doesn't have standout lateral quickness, so will get roasted at times off the bounce. Likes to gamble for steals - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Gary-Trent-82914/ ©DraftExpress

Not good.

Not good.
Horrible.

If Simons gets any minutes at all this year it means our season is in the crapper.

And you base that on what? I’ll reserve my judgement until I see him play.

But I don’t think he’s going to be expected to play, similar to Zach last season.

Have you checked his stats; he is not a good shooter. Thomas shoots better from three and much better from two.
