It's just the reasoning as to specific reasons why C.J. and his lack of height makes it impossible for us to contend never make sense. Defensively, we proved otherwise last season. Offensively, C.J. is tremendous even though he's slightly undersized. So I don't see the area where his height is an issue, if we can still be an elite defensive team with him.

And why do people keep lumping Dame in as a small guard? He's 6'3.. that's very solid height for a PG. Dame's not a short PG...
Defensively the Blazers jumped up to 8th in net rating. Obviously a ton better than before but not elite either. It was on the pretty good level.
Everyone I’ve heard says CJ is obviously taller than Dame but that Dame seems shorter than 6’3.
It just seems to me that in a league where length and size are so important having your two best players both be smaller guys by nba measurements creates challenges. Neither Dame or CJ have really long arms either. You can agree or disagree with the reasons I or other people have given you, that’s your choice.
I just think the Blazers either need to scheme much better to help those guys get easy baskets or need a borderline allstar wing player to go with them.

We will see after the season who knows what... when the Blazers finish with a worse seed than last year and get knocked out in first rd again... then we can pull up these old posts
So the growth is purely determined by what seed we get next year when getting a seed 5 spots higher this year with 8 more wins is completely discredited?

He’s not much of a ball handler but I love how he moves off the ball and his post game shows potential as well. He’s already got an ideal SG build, and will only get stronger with time since he’ll still be a teenager as a rookie. I see him as a Dillon Brooks type. I don’t know how he’s overrated since I haven’t seen him mocked any higher than 18.
That's something intrinsic that I haven't spent enough time watching him to notice. I think he's an early 2nd round talent that I regularly see getting mocked in the 1st round.

Lmao. There's many problems that I've brought up that could have us lose in the first round next year, and were reasons we lost this year.. So if none of those gets fixed, we lose in the first round, that means the one reason you think we struggle is automatically correct and that confirms I know nothing?

Face.
Palm.

Even if Dame's 6'2, that's at least average height for a PG. He's not a short PG. In relativity to their position, we have one small guard. Dame has a 6'7 wingspan... He's not a small PG.

We do need to get those guys easier buckets. Which is why I think Stotts should be fired, as I believe he's misusing them and his system and philosophy is flawed.

I don't care if there the 3 or the 8 seed, I just want to see them win a round and at least be competitive (6 0r 7 games) in round 2...

I kind of see it as if the whole crew is back for another round (Dame, CJ and Stotts) next year unless there is significant roster upgrades trades or FA, it's gonna be kind of hard to be interested in the regular season. I think Dame is the one I'd most like to keep, but I'd like to see them either trade CJ, or get a new coach, with new ideas.

They have the MLE, a trade exception, a draft pick, and who knows how the summer turns out, maybe they make some really smart moves around CJ and Dame and can reach the goal, I'm not saying it's out of the question.

If the height of our back court is an issue against a few teams then it is easy to fix........just add a 3rd combo guard. No reason the Blazers can't adjust to a few teams. Hell they could even bring CJ off the bench if needed like Dallas did with Jason Terry. He still played over 30 minutes per game. (many of which were alongside Barea)

A Shawn Livingston type player for the MLE has worked for GS. If Baldwin is not the one then get someone better.
They tried with ET, but he is just not a PG.

Then upgrade SF as well and hope Zach develops at PF.

Yes, there needs to be change, but blowing it up is different.

Rumors today that Kings and Hawks could pass on Doncic and take Bagley and JJJ instead. Not going to happen.

This guy reminds me of Steph Curry the way he moves with the ball and gets up shots
I kinda had the same feeling watching the vid, but his motion seems considerably slower than Steph's. Wouldn't be surprised if the Warriors take him though.

I wouldn’t mind if Blazers took him... the foot injuries are worrisome but Dame and CJ both had foot injuries as well... seems like he has some good upside...

My great nephew, who is one hell of a basketball player, once lived in West Linn. One Halloween he went out trick or treating with some friends. He went to a house nearby and rang the doorbell. someone came out and gave them all candy but one occupant peered out the window from behind some curtains. It was Will Barton who was too timid to answer the door. Not a particularly interesting story except it was so weird. Barton lived in a gated community.

Bro, what is your issue? Come play in my rec league and we'll see how knows how to play when you're caught out there not knowing what the fuck to do. Better yet, come to our 3-on-3 games. Show your face to some of the people you talk down to. You're a hothead who thinks he knows more than everybody while constantly proving that he doesn't.

You take a portion of my point, and connect it to something unrelated. You're so in your own head that you can't comprehend anything being said to you. Learn how to conversate, for the love of God....

Our offense has a LACK OF PLAYER MOVEMENT. Guys don't move off the ball. Guys don't screen. Stotts doesn't put the players in situations where they have score/pass options. How does Dame get nearly 7 assists a game if he doesn't pass though? Most of those assists are because he creates them out of nothing. Aminu goes one-v-one when he doesn't have the skill too. Evan Turner's assists have been cut in half since his time in Boston. Shabazz Napier pounds the ball into the floor. Do you really think we have the two most isolation players in the game, and it's because that's they're only skill and that's all they want to do? Are you serious with that shit?

He comes, he's cooked.

I've seen him play live. His stroke is lovely.

I saw a mock draft earlier where they had the Blazers taking him. Not sure how I feel about it. Doesn’t really fit the SF/PF combo guy it seems like they need next to Dame and CJ, but shooting never hurts.

What are you talking about? We don't need that guy.... We already have him. His name is Aminu

I’d like to have as many of those guys as possible isn’t that the trend in the NBA as many wings that can kind of do anything from the 2-4 position?

SI has us getting Musa. Yes it is a gamble but IMO the type of gamble you take at 24. Down side he needs a full year in the weight room. (maybe 2) But he is only 18 right now.

Interesting they have Troy Brown going to Utah. 3 spots ahead. A different type of gamble.

24. TRAIL BLAZERS: DZANAN MUSA, SF, KK CEDEVITA

Height: 6'9" | Weight: 185 | Age: 18 | Last: 21
Stats (all competitions): 12.4 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 47.6% FG

Musa is expected to play at the NBA’s Global Camp in Treviso in early June, which will give him a major platform to stake a claim to first-round territory. He’s viewed as the second-best international prospect behind Luka Doncic, and is known as an intense competitor and streaky but talented scorer. Musa prefers to play with the ball in his hands and has some athletic shortcomings, which likely means he’ll have to adjust to a new role in order to succeed in the NBA, but his talent is certainly there, and coupled with his size on the wing and youth, he’ll become someone’s long-term investment. He needs to keep getting stronger and show he can involve others on a consistent basis. Portland is cap-strapped and could opt to keep him overseas another year.

51. Pelicans: Chimezie Metu, F/C, USC | Jr.

Kind of surprised Metu has fallen this far. Blazers need to buy a 2nd pick

I wouldn't mind taking Musa at #24 if he fell that far. I really like the idea of trying to get 2 or 3 wings in the second half of round 1 and hoping at least one of them pops. The only negative would be that if he stays overseas then it wouldn't help our team get better next year.

He might not help next year even if he came. He could sit.
I doubt he gets past SA though.

What is the talk about Justin Jackson? Good size and athleticism for a sf. He is projected for 2nd round. Might be worth a look
