OT 2019-2020 RipCityTwo FANTASY FOOTBALL

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

After we discussed our draft day trade scenario I was all in on it. I was disappointed when it fell through..haha
Yeah, I realized after awhile that there would be two decent RBs making it back to me after I didn't take one with my top 2 picks.

I'm going to make a Discord for the league. Itd basically be a giant group chat for everyone and you could easily message other people from there. You could get notifications to your phone if you wanted.

We'll still correspond in this thread, Discord is just an easy, simpler way for those who want that option.

Also, I want to move forward with the Week 13 play-in system I suggested earlier in this thread. If the majority of the league strongly opposes this, then I will roll with a 6 team playoff instead, so make your opinion heard. However, I think that this play-in system would be something you guys ultimately like! The money bonus system was met with skepticism at first, but it's grown into a really fun aspect of this league. With a 12-member league, I think this play-in system would ultimately be good as well. Here's the details:
- This year, the regular season will run until Week 12. In Week 13, we'll have a play-in week where the 6th ranked team will play the 7th ranked team for the 6th and final playoff spot for the official post-season that starts in Week 14. The 2nd ranked team will also play the 3rd ranked team for the 2nd and final BYE.
- In these games, the 2nd seed and 6th seed will receive a point bonus in their play-in games. The point bonus is 4 points for every game they're ahead of over the 3rd and 7th seed. For example, if the 2 seed is 10-2 and the 3 seed is 8-4, the 2 seed will have an 8 point bonus (for being 2 games ahead). If the 6 seed is 6-6 and the 7 seed is 4-7-1, the 6 seed will have a 6 point bonus (for being 1.5 games ahead). This point bonus is capped at 10.

I will be changing your nickname to your Fantasy Football team name. This change will only take place in our Discord server and won't follow you anywhere else in Discord. If you wish to have a different name elsewhere in Discord, then let me change your name for you since that'll only allow it to apply in this server!

My vote is for no but understand if a majority feel otherwise.

One thing we did in another league I'm in is started having the consolation bracket mean something. So teams 7-12 would be playing for the #1 pick selection through #6 next year. The 6 playoff teams would be playing for 7-12. For example since I won last year I'd be last this year in pick selection. It's a way to tie in future years while making teams competitive until the end this year.

Not feasible with teams changing around. Not that big of a reward, and consolation brackets are messy and weird. I don't like predetermining picks based off prior seasons.

Did a single person like your playoff suggestion though and now you're saying it's going to be the rule unless a majority oppose it?

I think you're the only person who said they dislike it, so I figured I'd put it in to get people's attention. If more people say they don't like it, I'll drop it. If you're going to get upset, get upset at the people who didn't say anything, not me. Nobody was ecstatic for the bonus system, but now everyone (or mostly everyone) likes it and wants it.

I'm not upset.

Can I ask why your vote is no? If Im understanding correctly he’s basically saying two teams will have a play-in game for the playoffs. It seems like not a big deal either way to me, but JW.

To me it's perfect that in a 12 team league 6 teams make the playoffs. I prefer a traditional style versus having to calculate how many point head start you get that week and all that stuff. There are 4 NFL teams that have a bye in week 12 too so that might give teams with those players a slight advantage in being fresher for that matchup (not that it's a major factor in any way).

The main reason though is because it basically gives the #1 seed two bye weeks in a row, which I think is too big of a reward, especially if there are two teams tied. In a 12 team league that only pays 3 spots then you should have to earn a top 6 spot to make the playoffs in my opinion.

This would be like a poker tournament pausing when it gets down to 7 players and having the 2nd highest chip stack have to play the 3rd highest chip stack and the two short stacks having to play each other for the right to be in the final 6. To me that just seems like an unnecessary step to just letting the season (or poker tournament) play out normally.

Also, the point is to keep one or more teams active until the end but all it does is make week 13 meaningless for 8 teams instead of those fighting for playoff positioning.

I like this. Something new. Sounds fun. I vote yes.

Itd be like the First Four in the NCAA tournament, actually.

That 1 seed would be playing for weekly bonuses still.

6 teams feels too little. Might be better to do 7 with 1 BYE.

Its not a big deal at all IMO.

Half the teams seems too little?

I'd be fine with keeping it simple and just adding a team to the playoffs instead of all that other stuff.
