On a serious note, Matisse Thybulle and Grant Williams are creeping up my list.

Clarke is a lock to go late lotto or mid-first.
Matisse Thybulle is a worse shooter than Aminu and Harkless. Are you sure thats what you want?

Clarke was my favorite player last year in college but he measured out really badly at the combine. Shorter than they thought with t-Rex arms.

Thybulle shot 36% for his career from 3. How's that worse than Aminu and Harkless?

He's streaky that's all. Look at his FT numbers. Those tell the tale.

Not sure he'll be there at #25.

Too many smart teams drafting ahead of us.

I can assure you he will probably be the most offensively challenged player drafted in the first round (if he is taken in the first round, that is).

41% shooter this year and 30% from 3 on the season. Flat out didn’t score at all in the half court. I’d be curious to find out what % of his field goals came in transition/pts off turnovers. My guess is well over half.

Incredible defender though. Very smart with good instincts.

Honestly, it's tough for me to get interested in the draft this year. Odds are no one will be available that can actually contribute - and even if there was Olshey would ignore them in favor of some "project."

Have I mentioned that I hate that label?

Yeah I'm with you, even the really hyped top end talent of the draft doesn't really blow me away, I think this is a weak class, I'm sure 2-3 guys will end up being good who we really haven't heard a ton about, but who knows. I'm not certainly not over the top about the Draft, I'm looking forward to FA and Trades but I think this will be a pretty boring summer for the Blazers, as I think Neil will basically just bank on "Nurkic" coming back and that being what they needed.

1 year out of 4. Abboration.

This offseason is gonna suck.

It might... I doubt NO will do anything drastic and have the WCF's as proof to just stick to it. The other problem is they are going to really struggle to afford a lot of the role players that helped get them there, and with the money, they have their role players will probably be all downgrades.
In terms of trades, I'd like to dream they'll make a big trade, but that is super unlikely.

Rumor de jour -- promises?

---Thybulle: Thunder
---Rui: Wolves w/Spurs in pursuit

Does his 6'7 height bother you for the PF position? I trust your takes on the draft more than most on here.

He does use his body well, has nice footwork and can put up a hook shot from both hands, so he has that going for him. I wonder how his game will translate to the NBA?

I would Trade the 1st and Turner to a team for a 2nd and anything with a pulse but as for the draft if they keep the pick --

If someone does not fall to them i would consider taking King from Oregon -- he reminds me of Hark only i think he could become a shooter

Fuck Love and the pick. It needs to be attached to Turner to get his ass out of here. Probably take 2 picks though.

Another rookie is not the answer to getting back to the WCF or past them.

Physically, his movement on the perimeter defensively is the most worrying thing for me. He can get into a stance and is underrated from a stand still, but struggles on closeouts / when he has to cover a large area and change direction. His height and reach are similar to Draymond Green despite not being as long (short neck).

Some people are super high on him (like top 5 on their big board high), but I see him more as a high end role player strictly due to his strength, high IQ and probable shooting. I think he also should be pretty switchable on D in time. Very high IQ screener and rim protector. Great at meeting people early with his chest and staying vertical (think Aaron Baynes here). Makes a real impact despite length issue. Touch and post game should be useful vs switching schemes as well. Great at reading help and making the appropriate pass.

He's not your traditional NBA athlete and will have to change his game, but if our goal is beat the Warriors his skill set and IQ fits our needs.

There few players with body type have successfull in the NBA.

I saw this on another site and it seems realistic.

Turner + 25 for E'Twan Moore

Moore can play and is a decent shooter, and has played SF for NO. This is assuming Davis is traded. Saves us 10 million this year.

There's real value to be had at #25.

E'twaun is fine, but I'd rather keep the pick and give Anfernee a shot if we aren't able upgrade on what Curry gave us through trade/FA.

The savings on Turner isn't doing much for us either.

Getting Moore would basically mean Hood is left to take whatever he wants in FA (would probably give Kanter the MLE if this happened), Simons could still get the Seth minutes in this scenario.

Yeah. Not a fan of this scenario.

I don't see how that makes us better and also think it's a poor use of resources.

Every move we make should be with the Warriors in mind. Giving Kanter the MLE (or resigning him all together) and getting even smaller on the wing is the exact opposite of that.

Blazers draft pick and Jake Layman for Taurean Prince? It was reported the Blazers where high on Prince last year at the trade deadline.

$126,000,152 is our payroll for next season. The HARD CAP is going to be ~138 million. We have a 5 million exception to work with, and realistically, it won't be able to be used on any of our 3 free agents. So that is losing 3 rotation players for nothing. If Aminu walks, that's 4 rotation players gone for nothing. If they resign Aminu for anything more than ~7 million a year they won't even be able to use the tax MLE. Cutting 10 million + getting a rotation player + opening up the full MLE (for our own free agents or even others) is a pretty good compromise for the 25th pick. Last thing the Blazers need right now is another project player.

We can use the tax MLE regardless. The "hard cap" only applies if we use the non-tax MLE, the BAE, or do a sign-and-trade. If we do none of those things, our salary can go well above the apron.

Beat me to the punch.

B-Roy making me read up on the Coon's Cap FAQ...someday I'll dig into that monster.

Mainly because I dont think this draft class is all that special, Id be totally down for trading our pick if it could help the cap and get rid of ET.
It seems like after the 1st two guys in this draft there is a massive natural talent / ability drop off.
