I never once said they were.
I said it's modern day slavery. When did I call it racist?
Why because I said it's largely ran an old, white good ol boys club?
Well isn't it?
How is that me calling it racist?
You're projecting.
Im not sure if I agree about it being modern day slavery, but there is definitely problems with the “system”.
I think the problem stems deeper than the NCAA and athletics though. The current day collegiate system as a whole very much contributes to the “systematic” problems of our country. Id even say that yes the system while maybe not “racist”, does however work against minorities, but it works against almost everyone who isnt exceptional or rich.
The whole college experience is ridiculously over priced, and borderline fraudulent in my opinion. Too many “kids” pay too much, rack up too much debt, just to come out of it, not ready for real jobs, and end up with bad jobs or jobs they aren't interested in.
This is why the “NCAA” can get away with much of what they have. Scholarships are worth so much money because the elitists at these institutions have no problems paying themselves that an athlete getting a scholarship is sometimes worth 150k. So your average Biology student looks at them and says I work as hard as you, I make the school money (Literally by paying so much just to be there), why should this guy get a free ride and get paid to shoot a ball.
Student researchers often times dont get paid, the schools take credit for their work, the real difference is that the NCAA has this sham going of being “amateur”, and therefore unpaid student athletes, these kids cant even go get jobs if their on a football team.
Anyways the US College system has basically turned itself into a giant cash making scam. Its infiltrated every part of it.
To me these “rules” of the NCAA to protect against what they’d call cheating, has actually turned the whole system into a cess ball of cheaters and coaches / administrators who HAVE to do it under the table in order to compete. Let them work, let them use their own likenesses to make money. If that “kills” the competitive aspect of it, then fine, because its college athletics, how competitive it is doesnt really matter... Its about setting up kids to have a good future.
