Crowder at 10 mil on an expiring deal would have been tradeable in 22-23. That pisses me off. He's clearly the superior player and fits our timeline age wise better.

He also needs to choose us. It's possible he just chose Phoenix due to a bigger role/less taxes/hate's Portland.

We will never know. But I guess if I were in his shoes he stands to have a bigger role in Phoenix, so I would have also chose Phoenix.

We really need a sneaky BAE signing or a surprise Hassan S&T. Where is Millsap going?

Okay so given that we have 5 million left.

BAE = 3.6 M
Vet min = counts for 1.6 M for lux tax purposes

I think the most likely scenario is that we use the BAE and one vet min. That may mean Elleby won't get the standard 3 year deal. Which means we would have 13 players on the roster, and would need to fill out the rest with two-way players.

Or, they could sign a few more vet mins, give Elleby the standard deal, and hope to dump some salary during the season.

Or, they could skip the BAE altogether, and just sign 3 vet min guys. Either way, if we are over the tax this season, it's not going to be by a lot, but you definitely don't want to do it for purposes of the repeater tax.

I think this also means any S&T scenario for Whiteside is out of the equation. We would need to take a chunk of salary back, which will balloon our lux tax payment and make it extremely hard to get out of it during the season without making the team significantly worse.

Hornets are going to waive and stretch Batum they say........he could be picked up for nothing if they do that

What options do we have with Wenyen? I think he deserves more than a two-way. Can we do a three way S&T with Whiteside?

Roughly 7. Enough for the BAE and two vet mins to fill our our 3 roster spots.

so then, I'm not sure about the rule but because Portland used the full MLE on Jones, I believe they are hard-capped. That would just about eliminate any sign & trade for Whiteside

We actually have 5, see my earlier post.

3/30 mil for Crowder. I feel a little better knowing we couldn’t offer that.

that's the same amount a max 3 year MLE would pay so yeah, the Blazers could have offered that....unless there's something about the MLE rules I'm missing

Forget about Whiteside S&T for a multitude of reasons.

They could offer Wenyen a 1.4 deal, which is the vet min for a player with 1 years of experience. So we could use the full BAE and offer Wenyen a vet min deal for $5 million and be roughly under the luxury tax.

he asked about room under the Apron

if you count Elleby, I see about 7M in room

Someone please check my math, because I just did the calculations again and I got 129.4 in guaranteed salaries WITHOUT even counting Elleby, which would only put us $3 million under the apron.

Honestly at this point if it’s skinny good attitude Melo who is cool with 20 mpg I’d sign him to the BAE and Bowman to a min and let’s roll. Still best roster we have had in a long time imo.

apron is 138.6M
