If you look back at Lamarcus his first two seasons he looked so skinny compared to when he filled out...Ant looks good here.

Funny thing was LMA looked muscular at Texas compared to the other players, then when playing with grown men he was overwhelmed his rookie season.

“He's had two good days (of practice),” Coach Terry Stotts said Wednesday. “He's a talented young man.”

Starting center Jusuf Nurkic did not arrive in Portland until Sunday, so will not be eligible for contact practice until Friday and likely will not see action in the first game. Zach Collins is not ready for game action yet, so Enes Kanter and Giles will probably be the only centers in uniform Friday night.

“The fact that Nurk’s not here, it's been a good time for him to get reps, going against Enes,” Stotts said. “You know, we only have 12 guys in practice, so it's six-on-six, two teams of six with one sub. Everybody's getting a lot of reps and I think Harry is adapting to the way we play -- a different style here than what he did in Sacramento. But like I said, he's very talented.

“He's a willing learner and young, and he's had two good days. You know, he's a skilled guy, I mean he's got a good mid-range, he can pass, he’s athletic.

“I think most of you know, coming out of high school how highly talented he was.”

Stotts said he doesn’t expect anyone to play more than 20 minutes in the first game, “or maybe 25 -- but I think the first two games against Sacramento are about getting up and down and running. And then I will see where we are, going into Denver (for the final two exhibition games).”

What are Portland’s statement jerseys this season, is it just the same as last?

I wish they'd highlight some of the defense instead of just making it look like they're hitting on all cylinders offensively. We all know that the Blazers defense can make even the worse offensive players look like all stars....

This doesn't sound like Stotts. Is he sick? :)

Stotts essentially called Jones the best athlete he’s ever coached. He also thinks he will improve as a shooter. Brought up Harkless and Aminu as examples.

If Jones shoots anywhere near their percentages he’s gonna be big time, because he’s more dynamic than them off the ball.

Watching the Ducks tonight and they were talking about how Altman's teams always get a lot better as the season goes on. And it seems like that's what some NBA coaches like Pops do; prepare their teams for the playoffs over the season. Sometimes they put improving the team over winning games. Aren't we talented enough now that we could do that? But it doesn't seem like that is Stotts' plan. He was asked yesterday if they would use more zone since Jones was so effective at it in Miami. He seemed to acknowledge that the zone was very effective for Miami and could be for us, but he said there would not be time to learn it. He said they would be playing every other day and needed rest days. What if, instead of shootaround on game days, they did a walkthrough, learning zone defense (or something else new), then practiced it 5 0n 5 for 10 minutes, then in the game tried it out for 15 minutes? It just seems to me that the Stotts' attitude is more suited for making sure we get in the playoffs, it's not the getting into the finals attitude.

Which is why you never take much from a highlight video.

I'm only here for the Elleby highlights...where are they?
Ahhhhh, if you look close at the :45 second mark, you can see him parking CJ's car. Again at 1:05, you see him folding Nurk's laundry. Close as he is going to get helping us on or off the court in the 2 years he'll be here.

Someone here will be saying we need to give him a chance by mid-season. "He can't be worse than <insert player>..."

What the fuck ever! This type of stuff actually upsets me every season. We bring in some random ass practice players and dorks on here start pumping them up like they are going to help us win. No. That's not how it works. How many fools on here thought Hoard/Brown and Gabriel should be starting and playing down the stretch of tight games. There is a reason they were stranded in the G-League. There is a reason wherever the hell they went, they will be guarding the gatorade on the bench before they are guarding a player on the court. I'd just love to know who will be sitting on the bench when this kid will be out there getting PT.

I didn’t think Aldridge looked muscular at all at Texas. He was thin as a rail.

If Elleby sucks that bad, why are they wasting a roster spot on him? Somebody must have thought he has a chance to play at the NBA level - or spending even a 2nd round pick on him was stupid.
