I've been objecting to the CJ-for-Aaron Gordon trades that people have been throwing out there for years because I just didn't see what Gordon did. He seemed to me an empty-stats guy who was good at dunking and nothing else. Well, people said he was a good defender, and that seems to be being borne out in Orlando's play this season. With that in mind:

The Thunder trade has three goals: clear up a crowded frontcourt, get a backup PG (to replace CJ, who currently plays that role), and GET RID OF KANTER. Ideally we'd get rid of Carmelo instead, but I don't think FO has the balls.
Why would Orlando do that? To be honest, they probably wouldn't've considered it before last night. What happened last night? Poor old Markelle Fultz's ACL snapped. They still might not consider it because they're finally winning, and they also have a lot of money tied up on Fournier. But if Jonathan Isaac ever gets healthy, he'd take up Gordon's role. Also they offload Aminu who looks like a mistake for them. (Don't worry, I don't think re-aquiring Aminu is going to do anything for us, it's just to make up salaries.)
Why would the Thunder do that? They might want a pick, because Presti is a pick hoarder. But otherwise I'm hoping they're ready to be more patient with Zach than I am.
