Seems to be more activity this year than usual. Typically most if not all trades happen on deadline day.

Portland would have full Bird Rights on Collins, and early Bird on Rondo the following summer

Portland is hard-capped this season because they used the full-MLE on Jones. If they would have signed him for the amount of the tax-MLE (using the standard MLE) or less, they wouldn't be hard-capped. A team also gets hard-capped if they use the BAE or accept a player in a sign & trade deal

otherwise a team can not only exceed the the tax line, they can go over the apron which is 6 million above the tax line
 
I don’t want Covington traded he’s a glue type player that every team needs. Seems to always come up big at end of games little things make the big differences come playoff time.

sorry I know this is random just saw him included in some trades

If we could get Gordon and Hill that would be phenomenal. I think the more realistic option to get a big PG that can defend both guard spots to back up Dame and CJ might be MCW in a Gordon trade. If Neil has made the determination that he wants CJ and not Gary then this trade should work for both sides. Then we'd have two or even three spots for the buyout market.

We would need a shooter in buyout if we do that trade. Unless Elleby is ready.

dude, he's trash. i was high on him too and saw the few minutes he played during garbage time and he's a ways away. has no skill whatsoever
 
That contract Olshey gave Hood is bad in terms of value on the court, but can be valuable in all those trade scenarios. Without that we wouldn't have much chance to do anything.

I think I saw it's now up to 32 picks for OKC over the next 6 years. In this age of spin-off TV shows, I can only imagine they're planning on spinning off a separate team.

I remember how valuable RLEC was supposed to be (Raef Lafrentz Expiring Contract)

won't have trade value if it's not traded

my guess is the "best value" may be checking to see who Hood's agent is, then looking at that agent's client list

The only way I include RoCo in a trade is if a legit All-Star (not a fringe AS) is coming to Portland in return.
 
Lonzo Ball is probably one of my favorite targets this trade deadline. I'm not sure why the Pels have him available (RFA, maybe?), but his floor vision is incredible, he can defend 1-3, and his 3-pt shot is much improved. We can easily play him alongside Dame and CJ as well as let him run the offense while one of our guards gets a rest.

Trent has higher value in this league than Gordon does. I'm not opposed to trading Trent, but I wouldn't for Gordon. Zach's value in the league is close to none at the moment. He's not the problem in this package. Trent is.
 
Here's one I don't think most on here would like and Olshey wouldn't do it and I think Cleveland probably wouldn't either. Jones, Trent and Zach for Nance and Dylan Windler. I think Cleveland would not do it because Nance is much better than Jones and Jones might opt out, Windler already almost as good as Trent (much better rebounder and shot blocker) and not facing a big payday and Zach a question mark. Would they do Jones and Zach for Nance?

I only included Zach because I thought we could then get two guys who could contribute in the buyout market and if we just do the trade without him, I'm not positive we could get anyone and would have to fill our roster spot with a G Leaguer. This is if Olshey is feeling heat and feels like the team has to make a run in order for him to keep his job. If Olshey feels comfortable, he'll only make a Gordon deal on terms incredibly favorable to our team.
 
Trying to think about this another direction... if it really is probable that we won't be able to keep Trent next year, which teams would likely be most interested in what he can offer this season and going forward? Where would he be the best long-term fit, from whom we'd be able to extract the most value?

So basically who is going to blow their wad on him this off season and can we just trade him to them now and get something back?

without bothering to look again, IIRC, there will be 10-12 teams with enough space to offer him 18-20 million. Whether any of those teams would I don't know. I do know all it takes is one....just ask Allen Crabbe
