Gordon has now formally asked for a trade. Wonder which team that isn’t Portland is gonna get him.

Probably Houston for two picks (including Portlands) and Oladipo

Haynes says Gordon doesn’t wanna go to a shit team and rejected move to Houston. But he also said talks between Portland and Orlando diminished and nuggets aren’t that desperate for Gordon. Maybe Boston?

Eh, I could see things heating up again in the next couple days. I suspect Orlando was asking for more than we were willing to give so we're waiting to see if they get more desperate.

if Gordon is traded it probably won't happen till Wednesday night or Thursday afternoon

Orlando is under pressure now since the news came out Gordon has asked to be traded

Yup. I suspect we have given them our best offer and now we're waiting.

I agree that it's clearly a tactic by Orlando to get as much as they can for him. They probably see the haul that Houston got for Westbrook and Harden (and OKC for the trades they made) and foolishly think they should get a similar trade for Gordon.

Eventually they'll probably agree to a decent offer (that Portland realistically couldn't match, yet fans will complain about until 2023), or they'll continue with an unrealistic trade requests and keep him and eventually he'll get "injured" with like 15 games left and sit out the rest of the year and then will be traded during the off season (for less than what they were offered now).

or maybe they are looking at Houston getting two 1sts for Covington....that turned into Christian Wood and a 1st for Covington

This doesn't sound like us.

“The 25-year-old wants to be in a winning situation that will help him fulfill his basketball potential and maximize his profile by being in a large market with plenty of branding opportunities,” Weiss and Amick wrote. “He demonstrated promising basketball and marketing value with his early career success, particularly in the legendary slam dunk contest battle with Zach LaVine in 2016. But as Orlando has been stuck on the treadmill of mediocrity in recent years, his Q rating and standing in the league has clearly plateaued.”

my guess is klutch is getting impatient. They evidently requested a trade a month ago, and it’s probably a safe bet that no one is meeting the asking price, and the teams that might be (houston) Gordon has no interest in. Interesting situation.

Does he have a no-trade clause?

nah, but it’s a players league, they pretty much go where they wanna go. Houston just dealt with a dude that didn’t wanna be there, so idk why they would wanna go through that again.

Houston Rockets players were under the impression a few days ago that a trade for Gordon was close to being finalized and a last-minute hiccup killed the deal, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Gordon has no desire to be traded to a team in a rebuild and is only interested in joining a team that has the potential to make a playoff run, sources said.

One key party with knowledge of the talks disputed that it nearly reached the point of completion. It would have likely involved Victor Oladipo. However, any team that seeks a trade for the Orlando Magic versatile forward would prefer to have some assurances that Gordon would agree to an extension, sources said.

This could decrease the trade options for Orlando. Gordon, 25, is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2022.

Talks have diminished between Orlando and the Portland Trail Blazers, a source said. The Denver Nuggets are still interested, but there isn't desperation to make a move, sources said.

Am I missing the part that says he rejected going to Houston?

Nah, per hoopsrumors.com no legit superstars have them right now (probably because like Harden showed they have a built in no trade clause because they'll just force a team's hand. I assume because of that power agents tell their clients not to even worry about it during negotiations) the website says "A player who re-signs with his previous team on a one-year contract – or a two-year deal with an option year – is given no-trade protection. So is a player who signs an offer sheet and has that offer matched by his previous team. Players who accept one-year qualifying offers after their rookie contracts expire also receive veto power." So we happen to have two players who have veto power. Hoodie and Melo. I doubt Hoodie would use it and I know Melo would.

This is the article and it looks pretty legit but who knows who this guys sources are. The source on the rules is the CBA and that is legit:

https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2020/12... is a player who, matched by his previous team.

What Gordon does have is only one more year on his contract after this season and no one wants to give up a ton off assets to watch him walk out the door. The thing is if he wants to be a big shot and get all of the endorsement deals and have his q rating through the roof he can totally do it in a small market. Exhibit A. Damian Lamonte Ollie Lillard Sr.

So if Gordon thinks he has the juice then he can come here surpass CJ as the second option and be the most marketable second option in the league after AD... I can't think of a better teammate in a pick and roll/pop offense for an athletic PF with a solid jumper than Dame. The other thing is that if he does get traded here and the team doesn't make serious noise in the playoffs he won't have to worry about the ridiculous loyalties of Olshey and Stotts.

All of that said, I'm sure Olshey is overvaluing his guys as per usual and we'll end up making a very marginal deal at the trade deadline or wait to pick up one guy from the buyout market who will be like our eleventh man because of Stotts's insane loyalty.

I don't think Gordon has the kind of sway that Harden does, maybe I'm wrong but like I just posted he does have a contract that expires after next season... so if he's adamant about not wanting to be with a team going forward the length of his commitment could give them pause.

I guess that can be him rejecting a deal. Seems like if that were the case, it would have been worded differently than this.

I read somewhere else he turned down an extension offer from Houston, which is what stopped the deal from going down, but who knows.

Wouldn’t any player want that?

I don’t think Gordon is good enough to have this kind of clout.

He might not, but Klutch certainly does.

I wonder what the impact of Klutch is in a Trent for Gordon swap with both players being repped by the same agency.

Gordon is tight with Lillard (idk what the connection is) so I guarantee he would be open to a move to the blazers. Actually O’Conner reported that the magic nearly traded him to Portland in the offseason before they backed out last minute, thus the shift to roco.
They're both from the Bay Area.

Will be interesting on Friday with us playing in Orlando the day after the trade deadline.

is there are website that has a full listing of agents and players they represent?

What if we lifted the protections on the first we owe Houston and made it unprotected? Couldn’t we then trade a first in another deal? Throw houston a second or something for the trouble.
