Knock it off with the CJ trades - shit isn’t going to happen as long as Neil is here :bored:

The string puller is Dame, it would have to be an all star before Dames signs off on CJ trade. Every GM in the league would run a trade by Dame out of respect!

It's interesting to see people get prematurely angry for not "getting deals done". We don't know the asking price. I would invite you all to read Richard Thaler's "The Winner's Curse". Generally, those that overpay end up paying twice (once in the beginning and again at the end). Sometimes the best deal is one you don't make.

I'm kind of getting angry about your interest about my anger

Every GM that has a league or Finals MVP might run trades by their franchise player out of respect. Love Dame, but to be running trades by your franchise player who has yet to garner a Conference Finals win....might be too much respect given the results. That likely won't go over well with some.

They might run things by him but I don't think that's how this shit works. GMs have to keep this stuff close the vest. If Neil talks to Dame every time he is intrigued by an offer for CJ and Dame and CJ are bffs. Might that effect CJ's game... knowing every time that a trade for him is considered?

Again this just comes down to the completely baseless idea that players are GMs and shit like that. As far as who they want coming to their team goes... yeah, I think they have some serious pull. That's players incoming from free agency and trades. The idea that players leaving through trade are run past anyone on the roster is crazy.

Anybody know if we're connected here at all? Seems like Neil should be looking at every opportunity...

I would think every teams that has a super star would at least get feedback with regard to a huge trade. Im not talking all players or all trades, so you dont think Neil would run it by Dame if he had a good trade involving CJ? I guess it would depend on how if Dame said dont get me involved if you are dealing CJ, that your job mine is to play? I dont agree with players regardless of status being that influential but this isnt the game of old. Players are having much more pull and influence when they can, especially mega stars.

Looks as if Toronto is blowing it up. Not only trading Lowry, but also 27 year old Powell who is having his best year. It's a big risk going for Siakam, as his production has declined and now seems to be yelling at his coach a couple times. Big gamble trading CJ, but we still have Trent. Seems like it would balance us out and maybe he just needs a new environment. Would need to involve a third team like New Orleans or Minnesota to provide young assets to Toronto. Gonna need a very creative GM; is Olshey up to it?

One way to do it: New Orleans gets CJ, we get Siakam; Toronto gets Ball, Alexander-Walker and a couple first rounders from New Orleans (and Redick for salary purposes).

I moved all the posts about Drexler to the Around the NBA thread (seemed like the most neutral, least focused one) so as not to derail this one.
