Game Thread 2022-2023 Game #10 BLAZERS @ HEAT - NOVEMBER 7, 2022 - MONDAY - 5:30 PM (PDT) ROOT

I like the way we are letting our opponents live and die by their 3 point shooting. Much more compact and while we might let the likes of Gabe Vincent go off temporarily, he was garbage after the 1Q and feels like we’re gambling that the hot hand goes cool.

Insight.

Hello everyone

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

I’m from the UK and lived in the States for one year in 2012/13. Watched a ton of basketball then and crucially was mesmerised by Dame’s rookie year and been a Blazer follower ever since.

Anyway, watched a lot of turgid basketball since then, but really excited about this new roster. Feels like a great combo of genuine stars, good squad players on favourable contracts, and exciting young talent!

Last night Blazers were pretty rough I thought, lots of needless turnovers. But still a good win when not playing well. In the UK, playing poorly but getting the win is a worn out ‘winners’ cliche!

My big takeaway is that Jerami Grant is a huge gamechanger for the Blazers despite initial scepticism. Seems like a great 2-way player and the perfect 2 for Dame.

Need some reliable shooting off the bench imo, and do wish Nurk would stop flipping up some of that rubbish sometimes! But overall excited enough about this roster to post on this forum, after nearly 10 years!
hey look, another nurks hater

youll fit right in

Welcome! Great take ....did you come to the Blazers when Joel Freeland was on the bench....I think that was Dame's rookie season? I like Joel back in the day! Again welcome and Go Blazers!

If you think turning the ball over as many times as we did through lazy passes and giving up open 3s because we don't know how to close out is acceptable, then that's you. It's not a way to win games regularly, even though we found a way to offset it at the end tonight.
We offset it throughout the game, not just the end. Or we would’ve been down 20 at half. Not7.

Haliburton, Duarte, and Hield......are just 3 guards on Indiana. (Assuming Mathurin is an SF) They have shooters, what they don't have are bigs after trading Sabonis. I don't see any way they would want to trade Turner for another guard.
Yet for some reason rumored that they were. He may be playing so well now thatthey are no longer interested. My impression is that are doing a rebuild. In my favorite trade Duarte would come to us. They are also trying to shed Hield.

How well is he actually playing? I see a 27/10 game and a 37/12 game, with a 7/5 and and 5/6 sprinkled in as well. 5 total games played. No more consistent than Nurk, 5 more ppg, 3 less rpg.

But yeah you’re right, Turner’s going bonkers right now, no way we have the assets to trade for this guy lol.
Did you feel like I was attacking you in some way. That certainly wasn't my intention. What's the sarcasm and LOL all about?

Normally I’d use emojis but my emojis don’t show up after I post reply for some reason, so “lols” and “LOLs” just do it for me lol.

Nah I didn’t take it as an attack. This is a forum and all banter, who cares? I would’ve used ‘lol’ regardless if it’s an attack or not because the statement made me laugh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ that’s what lols are for.

Turner being just as inconsistent as Nurk, but we wouldn’t have the assets to trade for him right now—that’s going to be laughable to some. My bad if the lol felt like I was responding to a perceived attack, I’m just laughing at the statement, not you directly.

They were rumored to trade him for draft picks and an ending contract, or they were rumored to trade him for another guard with a long contract? You might be right but I had not heard they wanted another guard.

Reason I was State-side 2012/13 is that I was studying at University of New Mexico.

Lobos also had a great team that year and I used to sit next to the one and only Tony Snell in one of my classes. Really cool down-to-earth guy!

I remember Joel Freedman too, although always felt like he would face a battle to stay in the NBA!

All the talk over here is about Jeremy Sochan, although his ‘Britishness’ is up for debate amongst many. Half wanted us to draft him but Sharpe has been an exciting addition!

I don't know either. But we don't have too many contracts that match his and I don't think they want an older Nurkic.
