I think your point that you can't measure a player until they've truly been scouted, then if they appear to be great, are they the #1 priority on the opponents scout.

I'm not confident in saying he'll be Brandon Jennings anymore than I'm confident saying he'l be an all-star.
By the way, Jennings was a great player whose career was derailed by injuries. He was blossoming in Detroit and had 24 points and 21 assists in the game before he got hurt.

Truth.

The BIGGEST hurdle for professional athletes when they get to the highest level: the adjustments after being scouted. Its why I don't get hyped for any short term success from a rookie (good to great numbers in the first month) because the next two months they will have a playbook on how to attack them (and defend them). If it's an entire season of success that's different (different sport, but look at Julio from Seattle Mariners).

So I'll be excited for him months down the road if he is still good, like I did with Julio. When we see how he adjusts to what scouts find. Julio had an entire season of success (minus April).
Sucks for you that you don’t know how to enjoy the here and now.

How do you "figure out" a player standing in the corner shooting threes?
And how do you “figure” out his defense? HCP just doesn’t understand the game. I try to teach him but he doesn’t listen.

Had nothing to do with how good of a player he is. I mean, maybe if we bench Simons, it could work. But Sharpe should start at SG. Period.
Just start him at SF with Hart the first guard off the bench. He's 6'5" with elite quickness and can jump out of the gym. He played SF at least as much as SG last night and was awesome. Have him start and if he can't hack it have him be the 6th man at the 2-3.

When are we getting Sarr back?
I loved Sarr in the Pre-Season! Honestly I say start Sarr or Eubanks and bench Nurk until he gets his head out of his ass and shows some toughness. He looked lazy and the opposite of locked-in. Fortunately, I think Billups will bench his ass if this keeps up.

this is a really good road win, team looked much better than in pre-season, but thats why you dont make judgements based on pre-season, competitive bball is something else and i was really happy with our defense for the most part: interior defense was really good (man on man & help defense), we were disruptive in passing lanes, i think we switched well too, we contested three pointers (some were wide open), but the effort was there and thats exactly how we played last season when our main guys were gone/injured and given how strong western conference is, you have to give your best effort to win games

when some guys are not scoring well (dame & nurk last night), the other guys have to step up and grant, hart, winslow & sharpe sure did, ant was solid, but he can do better

it will require time for the team to gel on both ends of the floor, but im optimistic, sacramento is no joke, they will win games this season

Was your account hacked? This is the harshest I've ever seen you be on Nurk! Why it's even just straight up reasonable, even if you are going easy on him.

I recall some of their fans wanting him traded to make room for the hot-shot rookie, Peyton Siva. They were probably just over-valuing their young guys though.

Btw what happened to @Scalma ? Is he not here anymore?

He's at the International Unnecessary Internet Bullying conference in the Maldives. He emailed me to tell me I sucked, we all suck and he's plain better than us at every aspect of life.

Makes it weird why Chauncey never tried it during the pre-season. Justise mentioned they talked about it before Santa Barbara but it never got a look until the real regular season. Just odd.

could be because he held it cLose to the vest so other teams didn't see it in preseason? Sure tossed Sac for a loop.

I... I just said that I agree it's fine to be hesitant because of one game for very realistic reasons.

I enjoyed 5 months of Seattle Mariners baseball. Sorry I ruined your effort there. Anything else? :)

Is it just me or does Simon's look taller? I've been watching him stand by teammates in pictures and during games. He looks like hes a tad bit taller than Hart and definitely looked at least 2 inches taller than Fox who is 6'3". He definitely bulked up over the summer too.

He kind of played bigger too on his drives. You can tell he feels stronger.

Google Brandon Jennings and his first NBA game.....then look at how the scouts decided to actually scout him. Teams will figure this kid out quick. Thats my prediction. The other teams don't even have a report on him yet. The law of averages always catch up son.

I don’t think so. Sharpe has a well-rounded skill set. I don’t expect teams to focus too much on him since he’ll only be playing around 15 minutes per game. I think he’ll be consistently successful with his game at this level. I’m sure he’ll have bad games here and there but overall he should be fine. He doesn’t have any glaring weaknesses from what I see.

He looks like he’s about Terrence Davis’ height. Davis is 6’3 barefoot, 6’4.5 in shoes.

I think he is just playing bigger. If he made that first dunk, he would have 3 in just the first game alone. 3/10 from 3 last night—if this was last year, Ant would’ve probably ended the night with 10-12 points, not 22 points. That’s encouraging.

I don’t really remember noticing anything about his defense last night, which is a good thing because I noticed how bad it was last year.

I think the @Chris Craig guy said that this is him joking and we’re supposed to know that.

No, we got completely taken. We gave up two players who can impact the game in a big way... both of whom can put up a shit ton more points and numbers in general than Winslow can and we got back a nice glue guy and a dude with some potential. It was a shitty trade. That doesn't mean that Cronin will always make shitty trades and it doesn't mean we didn't get anything good out of it. It just means that we gave up much more talent than we received and you can't do that in this league.
Pretty sure Winslow+Bledsoe could've been had for free given that Bledsoe was making 19m a year and Winslow was barely playing (and wasn't playing well). Then we threw in two established high level role players for an unproven, raw rookie who might not amount to anything in the league.

Anything about "Winslow being worth it now" isn't a good argument because worth is relative and at the time he was worth nothing to the Clippers. That just explains what a mismanagement of assets is.
