Game Thread 2022-23 Game #1 - BLAZERS @ KINGS - OCTOBER 19, 2022 - WEDNESDAY - 7:00 PM (PDT) ROOT

I have a more inclusive definition of good shooting. Grant scored 23 points on 11 shots. That's excellent shooting

Very good efficiency due to a lot of FTs (even though only 76% from the FT line). Great 3-point shooting. 2-8 inside the arc. (layup and putback dunk)

Just got back from watching the game at the local sports bar. What a start to the season!

Game ball for me goes to Hart and Winslow. Hart was everywhere, constantly hustling. And Winslow played great D on Sabonis down the stretch. Love to see that scrappiness.

Eubanks with some solid D, and a great block. And, of course, seeing Sharpe have a solid outing gives me hope for the future.

The Blazers will certainly have some ups and downs this season, but it was nice to see them start off with a hard-fought win!

Did you

Did you watch the fucking game? Lillard jacking up shots like he’s actually shooting efficiently. The old hero ball like he used to play with his boy Stotts. He literally turned the ball over on three straight possessions down the stretch. Ant had ZERO turnovers and just seemed to have a much better handle on how to initiate the offence. He may not have accrued the same number of assists as Lillard but that’s because I bet he got more hockey assists.
Dame literally only had one turnover before he was forcing shit on those three possessions and already had his eight assists. In my opinion this offense would run a lot smoother if Dame was the one bringing the ball up on every play and making sure that he was moving it. I think when Ant and Hart initiate the offense with the objective of still making sure Dame gets a touch, shit gets clunky and we end up initiating the actual play with less time to operate.

Yeah, Dame's shot was off tonight... oh fucking well. Guess who was the more efficient scorer tonight Ant or Dame? You don't have to guess because they both sucked but Dame (20 on 18 shots) didn't suck quite as badly as Ant (22 on 22 shots). I also thought both of them were terrible together on defense like Dame/CJ part II.

It's just one game and we'll see how things go but I thought Dame looked fine initiating the offense besides that little stretch where he tried to force some shit he shouldn't have which happens to everybody sometimes in close games.

Nice road win on a night where the Blazers’ best player goes 5-18 and 1-8 from 3, with 4 turnovers. I’ll take it.

Do you now realize that the Clippers trade was a steal for us?
No, we got completely taken. We gave up two players who can impact the game in a big way... both of whom can put up a shit ton more points and numbers in general than Winslow can and we got back a nice glue guy and a dude with some potential. It was a shitty trade. That doesn't mean that Cronin will always make shitty trades and it doesn't mean we didn't get anything good out of it. It just means that we gave up much more talent than we received and you can't do that in this league.

I dont care about the game tbh, i'm worried about Dame, he looks really bad. I thought he said he's is best shape ever, welp. He's aging

We got the best player in the trade.

I love Dame. I think he's still a good player. I think he deserved the extension. I think what he's done for the franchise is amazing. He's a solid guy.

BUT- going forward, it makes more sense to start a backcourt of Simons & Sharpe.

So I guess that means trading Dame. I hate that. But Simons/Sharpe is a better backcourt than Dame/Simons and it's the future. Might as well start to build chemistry with those guys. If we traded Dame, we could probably still make playoffs. If we don't, maybe we luck into a VW or a Scooter.

I hate this. But it's true. And it's not because Dame shot badly tonight.

With our current roster, no way would I trade Winslow back to get Powell and Covington.

This team is going to take time to jell. Also, the players that sat with injuries need to knock off some rust.

I think we may need a consolidation trade closer to the deadline, but liked a lot of what I saw tonight.

Going forward, meaning like 5 years from now? Or this seasons?

I can't entertain that you could seriously think benching Dame for Shapre is a good idea.

I'm done debating the Dame thing... it's fucking ridiculous because he was moving great tonight and got to the hoop when he wanted to but blew some layups and his shot wasn't falling, we saw games like this from him five year ago but what the fuck ever.

What I want to say is Shaedon Sharpe is the truth. We need to get him more involved with the offense because he's a monster on that end. I really like him on defense too but he did have a few times where he got out of position or schooled with a crafty vet move, which should be expected from a rookie. This guy is the truth though.

Best players in this game:
Josh Hart
Jerami Grant
Justise Winslow
Shaedon Sharpe

All of them are better defenders than Lillard and Simons.
It's going to suck seeing Sharpe sitting on the bench already.
