But he broke the game wide open and won it. He can shoot.
He shot 43% from the field, and 2/7, 29% from 3.
Maybe you're thinking of Beasley?

come on he scored 8 pt straight in the last minutes. He shot poorly overall but still won the game. Who did that for Portland?

He shot poorly, and you're on here complaining that we can't shoot, and we need a shooter like Clarkson. Was a bummer to lose. We have plenty of games where we have someone take over and win for us. Nobody did last night. It happens.

This is Simons’ fifth year in the NBA. How can he still be “very raw?”
Well, he’s still only 23 years old
Didn’t play any college basketball
Didn’t play any meaningful, consistent minutes until January of THIS year

the accuracy of that is debatable.

it's true he didn't become the every-game starter till last season. But in his 2nd & 3rd seasons he got consistent playing time, in a consistent rotational role, as a reserve. And those minutes on a playoff team were every bit as meaningful as the starter minutes last year on an obviously tanking team

if you're arguing he could have lots of room for improvement and good potential to achieve that improvement I'd agree

but a player in his 5th season, already playing on his rookie extension, who has played in 240 NBA games, shouldn't really get the cover of he's-inexperienced or he's-raw excuses.

Again, I believe it was referring to Sharpe.

With young players, total number of games played is less impactful. Total minutes played would be a better gauge. A player could come in the last minute of a game and that would qualify as a game played.

Tough loss and yes they need to improve.
There is only one team (Celts) in the whole assoc. that hasn't gone through a losing spell.
We'll get our MOJO back but we will not win the rest of our games, so put on your competitive, keep your head in the game attitude and rally around this team.

the post(er) I responded to was talking about Ant; Sharpe isn't 23

well yeah, that's true generically

but that is not the case with Simons. He had a consistent role in the rotation with consistent minutes, and he got those minutes over the course of 144 games in two consecutive seasons. He has played well over 5000 NBA minutes and over the last 4 season has averaged more than 23 minutes

Cry some more. The fact that you think he's too embarrassed to come out, and not actually hurt is laughable after his like 10 year track record here. he had a bad night. You're having a worse night on here. Just sad.
Kobe did it all the time.

Talking with one of Utah's coaches pregame last night, discussing how this game is for #1 in the West....
Then we both laughed when we realized there are still SIX MONTHS left in the season!!
Long way to go.

Seems like some in here only want to say it's a long season when we're doing well.

This town has plenty of bridges.
They are welcome to use them.
It's just kinda funny to see the perspective from those who are actually involved, as opposed to those who think they are.

Sounds like a good argument to give Sharpe more playing time.

As for Simons, he lost the right to use youth as an excuse the day he signed that fat extension. If he is going to be paid like a vet - he is responsible for playing like one. Too many players want a big pay day for finishing their rookie deals, but not the responsibility that goes with it.

This is my thought. This "it's for first place" WERE NOT EVEN TO THANKSGIVING. The damn playoffs don't start for two more seasons! Winter, then spring! Like geez.

If this team can get healthy and stay connected they will improve as the season goes on and on any given night can win or at least be a handful.
I still think around 6/5 seed.

Lmao everyone having a meltdown is fuckin hilarious. It’s like we’ve never lost a game due to poor shooting or poor handling of the ball. With what looked like a lot of standing around waiting for something to happen.
Funny thing is, the only guys losing their minds are the ones who thought we’d actually have HCA in the playoffs.

Why is it that you were pretty much MIA “early on” and now that they’ve lost a few games, you magically reappear?
Probably because he has a little bit of commons sense and knew we weren’t the “best team in the west”

Actually there’s less than 5 months left.

Maybe...but I think it has more to do with who is or is not willing to accept that Dame is not immune to age. I would guess these are the same fans who were outraged at any discussion of starting an actual rebuild.
