Game Thread 2022-23 Game #39 - BLAZERS @ RAPTORS - JANUARY 8, 2023 - 12:30 PM (PDT) ROOT

I kind of agree with Billups on what he just said in his post game. Starters are doing their job but they are a bit young on the bench. Another solid bench player might do wonders for this team.

we can expect trader joe to try to improve the bench unit

Is this really something you want to make an ongoing conversation? Is my eye v your eye that important that we're now going to Round 3 or Round 4 on it?

I don't think he's moving well. I don't think he's as explosive to the hoop as I've seen him when he's healthy, which is why his shot's been getting blocked or he's been getting caught with no idea what to do and throwing the ball away.

That's where it's coming from. He doesn't look right. You can accept that or choose not to accept it, but it's not going to get us anywhere to try to diagnose it for you beyond telling you that's what I see and it isn't what you think you see.
His shot is getting blocked because he's dribbling into double teams like we have seen forever in the past at times.

If the Blazers trade 23-year-old Simons for any player that does not make the Trail Blazers a contender, that trade would be idiotic.

now you realize how money a guy like seth curry is. he would come in and nail a 3

But I was told we had an awesome bench!
We have broken bench legs....Nas and Justice and a string bean 7 ft shooter as well as a big Senegalese project who's still learning english! The summer league champs are only good when playing together! Keon, Jabari, Shaedon, Greg and Trendon...

wut?

that's essentially saying Simons is untouchable which is putting the Blazers right back in the Olshey/CJ bind. A single player that would 'potentially' make Portland a contender would be a top-10-top-15 player....Like Tatum, or Booker, or PG13. And Simons does not have value anywhere near the zip code of those kinds of players

the chance that a .500 team could suddenly transform to a contender by trading their 2nd or 3rd best player is just about nil. But a team could certainly take a step in that direction by trading for a comparable player who is a much better fit

The refs made me feel sick as well. This crew should be disbanded.
I always thought more players who can't find roster spots in the league anymore should consider becoming refs. Guys like Melo or Ed Davis or an Anthony Tolliver ..too many refs really suck these days

We are missing the guys who were supposed to be our 6th, 7th, and 8th men in our rotation.
Oh well there ya go then. No need to expect any wins anytime soon then right?

Our obligatory winning streak against the dregs which will mean absolutely nothing in the Playoffs?
This is IF and its a big IF whether we can even win half of these home games,

Don’t look now but the lowly Lakers and the upstart Thunder are nipping at our heels.

That’s a well coached Thunder crew

so would DeRozan, LaVine, Anunoby or Kuzma going to make us contenders?
