I wish I could hear what was going on in GP 1's head when he was watching that last quarter.

GP chose to sit out a lot of quarters, so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows better than to think he's entitled to anything right now.

I’d love to hear your master plan, the guy going around telling everyone they are wrong must have the solution so let’s hear it?

I never told you, let alone "everyone" that what they want is wrong. I'm saying your plan of trading the best player on the team for "hope" isn't one I'm signing off on.

Are you gonna keep me waiting? What’s your plan?

My guess is you don’t have one because there isn’t one to fix this situation much more than making us first round fodder for a better team to practice on. That’s because we are in purgatory, like I said. Have a good night.

Yes, I'll keep you waiting. Just like I've been waiting for an hour for you to answer my question. Though I've given up at this point.

I guess at the end of the day, our plans don't matter because Jody/Cronin/Billups will never hear them; and if they did, they probably wouldn't think much of them!

he was being doubled and tripled. When he forces up three's against tight defense and misses, people trash him. So now, tonight, when he didn't force up three's against two defenders, he's too passive?

what I saw Dame do was draw the defense too himself and set up teammates with open shots...which they bricked. But I guess it's dame's fault his teammates are throwing up airballs

Your right. I'm just down and out right now.

I meant Gary Sr, thought I saw him at the game.

He was probably thinking "Most of these MFs don't know how to play basketball."

I guess it's an encouraging loss. The Blazers were leading the whole game pretty much.

Thought Blazers actually played well in this one, but fairly clear the Cavs are the better team and were just 'staying in it', before the inevitable run that took them over the line.

Becoming increasingly clear to me that the Lillard / Simons backcourt just isn't going to work. Much like CJ, there are too many overlapping skillsets, and if the two of them arn't shooting volume, they are rendered redundant.

Such a hard one to call. Hard to justify trading Simons as he is such a young and elite shooter.

Who said one thing about tonight, how many 35 year old point guards in the league right now are worth 50 mil? Cause that’s what’s gonna happen. Turn down the homerism a bit bro. No one is saying Dame sucks, I’m saying he’s probably gonna be holding us back with that salary cap hit more than he will be helping at that point. Relax
"Right Now" is where I have a question mark on this comment. Right Now not many. In three years when the Cap has increased to $150+ million and about $200+ million tax threshold and when the Blazers are not hard capped it probably will not be as destructive as you are thinking. I agree Dame will be a very highly paid player and most certainly if he gets another contract he will have to take a cut. Where i see him not falling off is his ability to shoot. That man can shoot the rock and he will only get better.

We're only 0.5 games out of the play-in, the West has no championship contenders, so once we get healthy, we sneak into the playoffs, run through the West, then once we make the finals, we'll have all the confidence to shock the world!
That is a bit too optimistic for me but I do see them making a simple move before the deadline and that will probably involve Hart. After that move i see this team making some progress. They are not out of it by a long shot. Win a few games and they look much better.

I remember if Dame gets you 50 it be a win but I guess that's not likely know more. This team is not very good because there never any balance on this team. There always at least two players putting up 35 to over 40 shots. Couple years ago when they had CJ and Dame in the back court when together put over 40 shots they had loosing record. Dame put up 50 on 28 shots and shot 15 free throw made 13 so that means he had 43 attempts at the basket but only had 3 assist as your lead guard. Grant had 16 shots and everyone had 10 or less this not balance attack and it's not winnable basketball.

No trade at deadline going fix this team for this year.

I don’t think so. The last 5 games were supposed to be our tear. People were talking winstreak with this schedule. Instead, we’re 0-5. We’re done. Trade Dame for injured AD. Tank. Roll with Simons/Sharpe/Grant/AD/Wembenyama next year. A couple years of seasoning and they’d make regular appearances in the NBA Finals.
You do realize even if Portland tanks they may not get Wembenyama? You do realize that, right?

Night in and night out, the NBA has very thin margins as far as who gets the dub and who does not. We played well in several stretches last night, but again did not make the plays down the stretch that we needed to. Even when we got up in double digits a few times, I still didn't feel comfortable we would hold on and/or put them away.

Dame was great obviously, but Nurk and Hart were shit which basically negated that.

Cleveland is the better team tbh and think they will make a run in the playoffs. Key word there being 'team'; they fought for each other, whereas I do still think we try to be too individualistic if you will.

On to two games against Dallas....

We shall see. I still love you though Blazers!

You I been watching the spurs play this year and even though there not winning many games this year there still more enjoyable to watch then Blazers. Because majority of the time they play the right way on offense. Everyone involved and they fight like hell in games. Plus they got bench that's put 43 points a game. They got a lot young players in mix some veterans. I hate to say it but it's time to break the blazers up and start over again with quality of young players if that's if you have to trade Dame so be it because right now the way this team is assembled the future does not look bright.

Guess it depends on what you are expecting out of this team? If they make a trade and it improves them to a playoff level and then they play a good series in the first round is that acceptable? If they win in the first round in 7 games and lose in the second round is that a good season?
What level of success is "Fixed"?
Fixing the roster will take multiple moves. One move at a time is usually how that happens. They need a good move here in the next month.

The individual play hasn't changed on this team and it won't change until either they trade those types players away or they hire a coach that holds there players accountable by playing as a team and if not you be getting the same results.

You can believe that but this team don't play as a team there to many individual types on this team looking for there stats. Plus if you don't play the defense end well you usually going be on the wrong side of things anyway.

Cleveland's backcourt is working isn't it?

Is the major difference between the Trail Blazers and the Cavaliers, the backcourt, or the rest of the players?

i'm going to say it's the rest of the players.

if you could choose one player to swap to the trailblazers, would it be Anfernee Simmons for Donovan Mitchell?

People have to be watching these games. Dame set people up and they blew open looks and then Dame set people up and they refused to take open looks, instead rotating the ball and by people I mean Hart, Grant and Ant multiple times. A few times Dame got a guy an open look and the dude passed it right back to Dame who had a defender near him when the guy Dame set up was wide open.

Dame does not need to pass more this season. It's actually the opposite. The thing that needs to happen more with this team is that they take the first good shot instead of pretending that Chauncey has the same mandate on his team that the coach in "Hoosiers" had on his. There is no specific number of passes that need to take place per possession. We just want to see a lot more guys moving off the ball and some more ball movement than we've seen in years past. Obviously the overpassing is an issue, the best evidence of that is our ridiculous amount of turnovers.

Sorry i thought someone mentioned he was 1 for 19 or 3 for 25 or something. Didnt bother looking up myself.
Before he hit the 2 3s in the 2nd half last night, he was shooting 1-19 in the previous 3.5 games. After last night’s game he is 3-24 in the last 4 games.
