well, couldn't watch the game and didn't get home till about 20 minutes ago. Glad I missed the game...and the game thread

saw the 1st half and 2nd half box score. Really hard to believe a team could outscore an opponent by 32 in the second Q, take a 25 point halftime lead, and end up losing by 9

some questions:

* was it the worst loss of the season?

* did Billups at any time in the 2nd half look like he had a clue?

* Nurkic only 16 minutes and 2 points...did he get injured?

* did the Blazer D make Thomas Bryant look like an all-star?

* is HCP all kinds of giddy tonight?

the pressure is definitely building on Cronin for some trade deadline moves. Even though I didn't watch the game, it's pretty easy to see this is an inexcusable loss

Again... this is what people were saying two years ago, and in a lot of ways, it's worse now. As I said back then: Change for the sake of change is a dangerous strategy.
This is hilarious, what’s dangerous about change for the sake of change when you’re currently the 8th worst team in the league? You might become the worst? Oh well, it’s easier to fix the roster when you have a top 3 pick. This narrative of being careful about trading these guys that have you locked into the 13th spot in the west is weird, sad, and ridiculous all at the same time.

I just watched both Chauncey and Dame's pressers.

Chauncey is the type of leader you want to build around and I have from day one liked his basketball philosophies but from day one I didn't think we had the personnel to pull those philosophies off. I didn't when Joe said he was done for the off season but this obviously wasn't a finished roster. Chauncey does not want to disrespect his players or any players and that's just smart. With that said he did everything but come out and say, "Joe and I are actively shopping for different pieces because these guys can't get it done."

Then Dame says basically the same shit but the reporters have to grind on him about it.

Yes this is a frustrating stretch and no I don't think this team around Dame, Dame and Chauncey all fit together. It's going to take other players if we're to win with Chauncey and Dame can be one of those players. Also both guys said that things are still bunched up in the standings. We are 4-11 in our last 15 games and we're still only 3 games out from the fifth seed.

What Chauncey said was comforting because it's very obvious that him and Joe are not OK with this roster. It's even very obvious that Dame isn't OK with it either... I think that's why Dame got pissed because he knows he divulged that discontent with who is on his team and that's a bad place to be put in as team captain.

We have better than average talent, if average means .500. They just don't fit together and definitely don't fit the coach's system. The roster which is horribly constructed with positional imbalance and talent and skills that don't complement each other is a far far below average roster. When mixed with the fact that most of the guys with the talent to play in the league don't have the talent and skills to play well in Chauncey's system... we're a pretty fucking shitty team right now.

If no changes are made then I hope Joe and Chauncey are fired at the end of the season. If meaningful changes are made I'd like to see how Chauncey does with a roster better suited to his philosophies.

Almost zero chance Jody, who hired Joe on the cheap, is going to be ok paying Cronin and Billups for 3+ year to sit at home. Not to mention, nothing should give anyone confidence Jody and Bert have the skillset to identify and land a significant improvement at GM and/or coach.

Pissing away assets (money) when you're aleady beind the 8-ball and have ownership who is unwilling write a blank check is HORRIBLE bussiness.

If the goal is to get out of the mess, the moves that need to be made have to be far more intentional and educated than "let's pay someone to not work here anymore and hope it gets better because it can't get worse."

I'm shocked people actually think spitting in the wind is the right approach to turning this around. Making the asset pool worse for the next ownership group is a bad bad strategy.

I'm not saying they will, I'm just saying I'm not calling for their jobs until late this season at the earliest... or Joe's if no moves happen despite Chauncey and Dame being pretty fucking obvious tonight that moves will.

I get your point. My point is no matter how much the message board calls for Cronin's or Billups' job this year or this upcoming summer, it's not going to happen.

If we don’t make the playoffs this year at full strength i think Dame will break finally and a trade could happen. You can see the frustration building.

Oh, I know. For fucks sake, I was calling for Neil's job since he decided that Dame and CJ were the foundation of a championship team. I won't spam it but every so often when the frustration boils over I'll whine about why Cronin is even here if he doesn't make a significant trade. Same goes with Chauncey if he doesn't improve.

The problem is that the trade can't happen until after the draft and those are not good trades to make.

I was on the stolshey getting fired train for years. I'm very much okay being patient now that we can actually do things lol.

I was just about to ask for thoughts about this.

Loved that Dame didn't take the bait. He's been honest the entire time. Good on him to call them out a little bit keep it respectful.
Agree with you 100%.

Even people here want to believe Dame is about to ask for a trade. Not saying it could never happen, but this type of response combined with his 10 year track record would say him demanding a trade out is highly unlikely.

I didn’t even watch the game. I see we lost again? Lol do ya understand what I mean now?

All I can say to this is:

"To resist is to piss in the wind
Anyone who does will end up smelling
Knowing this why do I defy?
Cause my inner voice is yelling."

Apropos to whats going on now lol

Until he himself says he wants to be traded I'm not going to waste perfectly good Reynolds wrap.

That's a great point.

Freaking Classic

This Blazer team holds onto Leads like a pile of sand.

How disappointing, really though…

Scoring more in the 2nd than the 3rd/4th combined… How does that even make sense?

If this isn’t proof that consistency is the issue, then I don’t know what is.
