Game Thread 2022-23 Game #67 - BLAZERS @ 76ERS - MARCH 10, 2023 - FRIDAY - 4:00 PM (PDT) ROOT

I don’t know if it’s Dame or the coaching or the personnel, but every time a team starts throwing 2 guys pressuring Dame up high, this team reacts as if it’s the first time they’ve ever encountered this.

It’s been different coaching staffs, different personnel but the same results

Phili knew Embiid could get a good look going at Nurk. After shaking him there was nothing tough about that shot. I was just hoping they'd go anywhere else with the inbounds pass.

turnaround step back (he created space), how do you defend that any better than nurk did

Coach is out there smiling and giggling in the post game presser. You know who isn't smiling?

JE couldn't have had a more wide open look from the FT line and yet you're still lauding Nurk's effort. Maybe you should send him some orange slices and a thank you note?

What are you even talking about? It was a turnaround, fadeaway jumper with Nurk challenging with a hand in his face. Fuckin ridiculous.

FTM/A (%)
Us - 20/30 (66.7%)
Them - 23/29 (79.3%)

Grant - 5/8 (62.5%)
Nurkic - 1/5 (20%)

Embid - 13/18 (72.2%)

It's a well paid Job, but a job non the less. He obviously doesn't feel any pressure to contend or finish strong this year?
And even if he struggles next year and they fire him he's the type that would take it in stride, after all he's made some big bucks.

Well he should. Anyone who has been paying attention would realize he hasn’t exactly been dealt a great hand of cards.

good grief are you Nurk's Mom? Joel got exactly the clean look he wanted, but atta boy Jojo, you tried. OneSport3 still has your back even after missing all those Free Throws that would have put the game out of reach.

Good grief! Even if that’s the “clean look” Embiid wanted, that was a difficult shot. The Second Spectrum data showed that Embiid’s shot only had a 32% make probability. You blaming Nurk for his defense is complete idiocy. Outside of actually blocking the shot, he couldn’t have played that any better. It was just an amazing shot by a potential MVP candidate.

And even if he did make those free throws, that wouldn’t have put the game out of reach as you claim. Four points with 2 minutes remaining is hardly putting the game out of reach.

Of course it was a difficult shot, but this is the NBA not rec league. Thats the sort of shot thats made throughout most games and the Sixers knew the matchup they wanted. You want to hand out more participation awards to the guy that choked the game away on one end and gave up 39 on the other? Great effort on D Jojo, you held him to only 6 points over his average

With 24.5 seconds left in the game, the Blazers are ahead by 1 point. Jerami Grant is open on the right side and ready for a pass to him.

This possession ended up being a turnover when Lillard dribbled down the right side of the lane and had his last-second pass to Nurkic blocked from behind by Melton, which then bounces off Nurkic's hands.

Grant is a 40% 3-point shooter. Does Dame not "trust" him or what the hell is going on here?

Also, when this sad possession ended, there were still 8 seconds left on the shot clock.

Can someone explain this bullshit?

I’m not seeing a clean look by Embiid at the end, but it could’ve been defended a lot better. Nothing to argue over.

Nonetheless, the TANK keeps rolling along…

I've noticed that in just about every game thread you find some reason to criticize Dame. If you were to make a list of reasons why Portland lost, Dame's performance would be pretty low on the list

Went to a fantastic show right after the game. Had so much fun!
