Blazers Uprise Postgame Show (Preseason Game #1)

The Blazers took on the Clippers in Seattle! Come join us as well talk about how the Blazers looked in their first tune up before the regular season!

I thought Grant looked real nice. Wasn’t a huge fan of his acquisition. But if he can consistently play defense like that and score without his number being called than I’m sold.
i just wish he'd crash the glass. 4 rebounds in 27 mins, while hart pulled down 10 in 25. rebounding might be an issue for our front court

Trade Simons and Nurk. Get a good center and pick in the deal. Trade with Pelicans again? Or the Clippers for Zubac?

He drove away from him several times in a row.

Knows he's not playing come the season. Trying to get his. In facts that's most of what I saw tonight. A bunch of players trying to get theirs and not playing team ball. Alot of that is figuring out how Grant fits in and who the starting three will be.

Alot of the game was just Hart and Simons trying to take over. The bench was hectic. Drew was good but he kept getting pulled out to play defence on the perimeter. Not good. Greg Brown is just chaotic energy. Williams was terrible. Walker and Sharpe were fun to watch.

Lots of rust to get off. We haven't seen this team nearly at its best yet.

I’m cautiously optimistic about the team. The starting unit looked like a bunch of guys that haven’t played with each other. I think it’ll take some time to learn to play with each other and far from a finished product.

Some positives:

Dame is back.
Grant looked really good.
Hart rebounded well and can run the point as a backup/2nd unit.
Sharpe eventually looked good
Walker looked decent.
Nurk looked ok.
Defense was better (at times).

Some negatives:
Simons looked like he was rusty as hell.
Defense still is a work in progress.
Sharpe wasn't getting any decent looks for a while.
Little clearly was rusty.

Some sorta positives..

Eubanks wasn't horrible.
Winslow looked good.
Johnson looked good.
Payton should help some.

Still super early, and considering that 9 of these guys have either never played with Damian, or barely played with him (or each other), it wasn't as bad as it seems. These guys as closers tho (in either blowouts) are going to drastically change the score, but not in a positive manner.

Over all take:

Shaedon is gonna need minutes, so he can get repetitions and slow the game down for him (tho his mistakes tonight, if you can call them mistakes, weren't because the game was too fast for him).

Simons shouldn't go 2-12, and Little shouldn't look like this was his rookie or 2nd year either. Give the team some to grow together, and not have their first game against a stacked team, and it'll look different. Not saying the team will have a better record than the Clippers, but they should have a better record than the Jazz. That game should look different.

oh we're gonna coddle the hell out of our rookies like we always do. year 2 or 3 is when that love turns to criticism

True... I'm already preparing myself to be called a Sharpe hater this year and an apologist of his in year 3.

I'm guessing people will be coming for Ant very soon...

Sharpe was looking for the open man. I saw him several times kick it out when he could have tried to force something.

I thought Grant looked good in a lot of different ways. Not too sure about his play-making abilities though. If he is in there with Dame, Ant, and either Hart or Winslow he needs to defer the ball handling.

Hart with a team-leading 10 rebounds

Better than RoCo, Aminu. Best PF we've had since LA for sure

Simon's and Nurk for CJ and Nance.

Pelicans say no; how many picks would the Blazers have to throw into the deal?

Doing well. Spoke briefly to him at the Indy race at PIR. He was there with David Lucas.

Way too early, but Dame/Ant looks a LOT like Dame/CJ 2.0. Jacking up a ton of shots on nights when they can't hit the broadside of a barn.
7-25 while the rest of the starters were 11-20. Saw this WAY too many times for years. Sooooo don't want a repeat of that nonsense.
Dame and Ant missed about 6 or 7 open jumpers total.
