Lillard isn’t Lillard in Billups system. He’s a rythym player and needs freedom to do what he wants including 40’ shots. Lillard looks like he’s playing on team USA and trying to fit in.

I'll continue to say that I'm uncomfortable writing Billups off as a coach, but the decision to go with an incredibly unproven head coach during Dame's prime seem to be made in incredibly poor judgement. Olshey made plenty of questionable moves though, which is why I said we got rid of the wrong guy first. I would've liked to see a new, fresh GM come in and decide if it was time for a new head coach.

To Olshey's defense (something I don't do often), he did what was in his best interest, even though it wasn't in the teams best interest. The fact that he had ownership and a few fans snowed after 8 years was the alarming part.
 
The Blazers looked a lot better in the beginning with Winslow against Utah. Winslow makes Nurkic a problem for the other team, if Billups will allow it. I think the other players get more involved too.

I think we need to consider trading him and another piece for a SF.

Winslow started that game. I guess he didn't play tonight due to a "non-covid illness."

Completely different situation. We were pissing away the prime of our superstar player. We had a window. That window is rapidly closing. Not even sure if it's still open to be honest. Have to see how Dame does.

I'm talking about completely starting over, but that doesn't mean that a coach gets 10 years. I'm saying that it might take 10 years to completely rebuild, but I would rather have that than to sit around and watch a treadmill team lose and under perform year after year.

I must've read what you said incorrectly. I thought you said if they tore it down to the studs, you'd give them (ownership, GM, coaches, etc.) 10 years. That was hard for me to believe given your strong stance against even some of our better teams. But if I read it wrong, then I stand corrected.
 
Listened to a post-game stream tonight. 83 regular season games ago the stance was our schemes, adjustment, effort, and communication was bad. The confidence was high that this was all on the coach and that virtually any coach would be an upgrade. Tonight, it was the same complaints about the new coach, despite beliefs that this roster was most athletic and defensive-minded. Talk of a 6 hour film session as the solution (not how the NBA works) are not realistic or practical solutions.

I think we're simply seeing further proof that this team greatly over-achieved their talent level in the past.

If you want to gloat, call them out. Don’t beat around the bush. That’s weak.

Who overrated him though is the question? Why would you? He’s playing about as I would expect.
