Looks like my annual “Nurk is overrated and soft as a pile of shit” posts might come early this year. So sick of this guy.
If Nurk didn't have five turnovers. I would have said he had a pretty good game. Billups has to fix that. Hart and Nurk and Grant had the best +/- totals for the game. Simons not so bad either. Keon Johnson and Little had horrid figures. And Lillard not much better. Not sure what that is telling us, if anything, just something to keep track of. It does seem to fit with what some are saying; that Billups has not figured out how to make this team work with Lillard.

His sloppiness and laziness isn’t new.
I've been a Nurk supporter but I agree with you. At the start of the game, he was throwing lazy passes that had no chance and just throwing up weak shots at the general direction of the hoop hoping it would go in. It was infuriating. Although, I feel like he improved as the game progressed.

Nurkic was 10 for 13 from inside the arc the first two games. Finished strong and played well. Tonight he sucked, but so did everyone else, and every non-star center has games like this.
I didn't think he was that bad tonight. Shot free throws on most of the shots he missed (and made them) Billups might have to tell him no more of those over the top passes to guys under the basket.

I was somewhat surprised we did so bad. Starters had at least four days to practice since their last game.. But I know Chauncey is determined and persistent so I would like to wait until about ten games into the season to see if there is some improvement. I am still concerned about the roster makeup though. Still concerned about two starting guards defense.

the guard defense is a concern for sure

but I'm much more concerned about Chauncey's apparent stubborn insistence in running Dame off the ball. I think that will be a significant fail

We got blown out, all 4 pre season games last year. We lost our 1st reg season game to Sac then we blew out the next 4 opponent's of which were very decent teams.
The Blazers got blown out in game 3 by the Clippers. If you remember the Blazers couldn't win on the road until they played the Rockets on game #13.

I'm saying 20 games but yes i agree.

Huh? The only new guy is Grant - who was supposed to be a plug-and-play vet. Sharpie is a rookie playing garbage minutes, which is hardly going to upset team chemistry. GP the lesser is an irrelevancy in street clothes. Everybody else has had since the last trade deadline to gel.
My iPhone ran out of GREEN.

I let the game stew in my brain a bit...and I thought of these things.

  1. They realistically will have at least 5 new players in the rotation (who either weren't on the team last year, didn't get minutes until the shit hit the fan OR barely played last year after getting here). Grant, Hart, Keon, GP (out) and Trendon. Throw in Shaedon, Jabari and now Sarr and it's not a real surprise this team looks like they have never played together...in all reality, they've never played together.
  2. Their starting 5 has 3 players who have played more than 2 games together.
  3. They're still not showing progress
  4. Grant looks good, but everyone else looks like a chicken with their heads cut off.
  5. Nassir is clearly not ready due to his recovery (that sounds familiar).
  6. There are signs of improvement on D from Simons, not so sure yet from Dame.
I still stick with my prediction they will be keeping their pick this year, barring a sudden improvement or a weird trade that gives them a decent SF.

No they haven’t. Dame hasn’t played much with a lot of these guys. And after the All Star break, all the good players were shutdown. They pretty much haven’t had ANY time to gel.

Clippers are officially favored to win the west. Curious your expert opinion on this considering you came at me pretty strong informing me how much better our Blazers bench is compared to theirs.

We were 3-2 not 4-1. And then we lost 3 straight. We did have some blowouts against some good teams. That is true.

To be fair BK was predicted to go all the way last October and your Lakers were too IIRC by the wise media. Preseason predictions mean shit. Should PG or KL sustain injuries, and odds are they will, LAC will struggle. I still think GSW will lead the West.

Clippers bench is trash. Odds makers don’t know what they’re doing. They overwhelmingly favored the Nets last year and they didn’t even win a playoff game. Blazers all the way in 2023!

Yep. Lakers were top 5 pick to win title and then didn’t even get into the PLAY IN TOURNAMENT!

Btw- Hollinger picked Warriors to go 39-43 last year.

And it was 86 in Bend yesterday. Fuck you talking about bro. Who mentioned Hollinger OR the Warriors?

We were talking about favorites and predictions. I was adding to the point that the oddsmakers don’t know what they’re talking about.
