i'm not allowed to have an opinion now?

if Ant was a UFA and holding meetings like this while offers were already on the table (that too, in a city where the team wooing him already made moves in anticipation of his arrival while hiring his dad just months prior), you'd feel differently.

I’d say the same thing I’m saying about Brunson; he has the right to hold meetings with teams. He has the right to hear them out. He has the right to do whatever he wants without some fan who knows fuck all about him personally labeling him Hollywood.

I’m sure that he appreciates you defending his honor.

Patty Mills declined his option.

I don't understand the Brunson love in that he's getting all this attention and might get 100m over 4 years? Maybe more. I know he's decent but I haven't watched him much and he never struck me as that type of talent. I think Simons is a better bet so I'm a little nervous about what we're going to offer CJ version 2.0 - An undersized (at shooting guard), highly-paid guard to start alongside another undersized, highly-paid guard.

According to WS/48, VORP, and PER, Brunson grades out as a top 50 player in the league. And as a starter his numbers were even more impressive last year:

61 starts
17.5 PPG
5 RPG
4 APG
50% FG
39% 3PT
85% FT

he could legitimately threaten to be a 50/40/90 guy. And he showed he can elevate his game in bigger situations. Will be 26 at the start of his next contract so probably hasn’t even hit his prime yet.

Seems like a fine investment.

KJ Martin and Thybulle….I can’t even imagine rooting for a team that had rumors of all stars coming in FA or trades. Must be exciting.

Do these type of players move the needle? I’ve been a fan for 32 years without wavering, it just sucks we are always fighting for scraps instead of the main course.

I think Thybulle is actually a needle mover.

I think if Nas is the starter Thybulle could be huge for Portland. I do not think he is the type of player that alters championship odds however.

Not yet. But the process doesn't happen overnight. Thybulle is a great defensive player. He has plenty of flaws but adding a top defensive player to one of the worst defensive teams would be a massive plus. No question.

Nas should start but I'm sure he'll miss games at some point.

I want us to be better too. I just don't see the point in carrying on about it in that way. Let's see if Joe has some vision. I had no faith in him but that Grant trade he pulled off was brilliant. Grant is a needle mover. CJ was a needle mover too. Grant is just a better fit than CJ. There's a good possibility that Ant is more than what those two are, he seemed to be last season but that was in a different role than we're going to ask him to take on. We got the player with the most upside of anyone in this draft, that doesn't always pan out but it is something. We definitely need to add one piece that is a step up from anyone I just mentioned but Joe was able to get Grant without giving up any of the future draft picks we can have access to according to @hoopsjock at any time. An all star was just traded and for pieces that we have. We could trade three unprotected firsts and a swap without a problem.

Cronin isn't giving himself a lot of wiggle room for mediocrity, he said he won't settle for anything but a title. So it might not happen this summer and Joe might want to see how this group plays together but he didn't sound like he was done with the roster he's trying to build by training camp either. He could just sign Ingles to a 1 and 1 deal and then use some portion of the MLE so he has extra talent but maybe more importantly salaries to trade with the draft capital he has access to but I'm sure he wants to make the right move not just the quick move. I'm still not a fan of his first trade but I'm starting to believe that trade wasn't his idea.

Give this new GM a chance, he didn't keep the team he's been working with around and just go with the status quo. He hired three new assistant GMs that seem pretty damn good. So while we had Olshey's sleezy lame ass, obviously just placating us and rerunning the same fucking plan that didn't work over and over again, there was something to feel hopeless about but right now isn't that time. An allstar got traded today and it wasn't to us, maybe the next one will be. Joe isn't talking about letting a cake bake, he's not making injury excuses... he's literally given himself no choice but to make big moves. They might end up sucking but after the way he talked at the Shaedon/Jabari presser he has to do something drastic. It's an interesting time to be a fan of our team, let's enjoy it because there's about to be some fireworks we might just have to wait longer than five days.

This is how you know that Trader Bob is no longer in charge. He would get a piece of shit like this.
