Are we sure Chet doesn't have Marfan Syndrome? Like, has anyone tested the guy? I haven't even looked at college ball this year, and am just seeing this guy. And he looks like everyone I have ever seen with that particular genetic disorder.

Not making the Final Four as a 1 seed isn't "underperforming" though. It's hard as fuck to make the Final Four regardless of where you're seeded.
Technically it is underperforming. That’s why they’re a 1 seed. I agree with your premise though.

Gonzaga had ONE five-star recruit before last year. This year they had the #1 player in his high school class. Nobody from Gonzaga even compares to Chet. Stop looking so hard at school affiliation.
Gonzaga is absolutely LOADED compared to the rest of the conference.

Which is why I said let me see how Chet does in the tourney.

They've made 7 straight sweet 16s and made 2 out of the last 5 championship games. They've lived up to their seeding as much as anyone the last 7 years.

I'm not going off opinion, I'm going off of facts. If you're a top 4 seed, your seed would say you should make the Sweet 16. If you're the #1 overall you should win. If you're a #1 seed, you should make the final four. If you go back and look at their seeds, there are only 2 years where they exceed expectations in the last 11.

And that's no rip on Gonzaga, they are a great program, with a great coach. Just pointing out facts.

Wow. That must have stuck in your craw that here your are nearly a week later still harping on it.

Tell us what YOU believe. Put YOURSELF out there. Stop doing this passive junk where you don't have an opinion. You're even misrepresenting the stuff you put out there.

And yeah, it's a weird flex to act like you're disputing something and then you give this vanilla yogurt stance that you're just saying stuff for other people but you won't say whether you stand on that.

I gave my opinion where I thought Sochan would go. I've also seen mocks having him go there. You aren't the voice of THE scouts. There are a lot of scouts and I don't think they are a uniform block that all have an opinion that (checks notes) you won't say whether or not you agree with.

Just stating reality is a little bit different.
I did give my opinion on Sochan.

I posted about him when he was projected to be a low first round pick.

He has since flown up the mock drafts, which makes my opinion null and void.

I assume that the scouts know things I don’t.

If you read my posts, my original position was to trade DOWN for him.

They should do some regular season tanking to get a worse seed. They don't seem to do well when they're favored.

I'm having a hard time seeing how Chet is a better prospect than Timme ... and one could go #1 while the other could go undrafted.

Chet is better than Timme simply by the fact that Timme is unlikely to ever be a rotation NBA player. May never get meaningful minutes at all in the league. My opinion, don't get mad at me Zag fans.

He has specialized sneakers for his feet. But they do a good job disguising them

Your response is dizzying.

You throw out someone else's opinion to counter someone else's opinion ... which is a habit of yours ... but then I guess you are trying to say now it's not your opinion. So why share it?

If you think something, say it. For gosh sake, put yourself out there, not any of this weak sauce stuff "I posted it but I might or might not believe it." Yeesh. Weird.
If you got this much of an issue, you can block me.

I post my opinion all the time.

And yes, I use EXPERTS opinion whether I agree with it or not because they’re the experts. I’m not.

So if you say, “Wow, this Frank Harris Jr.” is going to go #1 overall I’d say “well the scouts have him going undrafted”.

I guess???? That might be a passive aggressive way of saying WTF are you seeing that professionals are not?

You quoted me as saying "underperforming" when I literally said "outperformed". There is a difference between those two words, so putting quotes around the exact opposite word of what I said is misleading at best.

At NO point have I said Gonzaga sucks, they are choke artists, their coach sucks, their schemes suck, their players suck, nothing of the sort. Simply pointing out advantages they have (which they deserve credit for) that may make it very difficult for them to OUTPERFORM their seed. To your point, it is impossible to outperform at a #1 overall seed, but I think we can all agree that a #1 overall seed failing to to get to the Elite 8 would be underperforming their seed line.

As the overall #1 seed, you should make the final four.

winning the championship is completely different since it isn’t “series” based.

I would agree with this.

For example, in 90-91 when the Blazers had the best record in the league and made it to the conference finals (final four), I would say they did not live up to their seed expecations. Does it mean that Blazer team was a failure? Of course not!

If the Blazers were a #1 seed 5 times in a decade and never won a championship, I would expect other people would say we're not outperforming their seed of late, while others would say getting to the conference finals or finals is still a great achievement. I would agree with both of those things.

Id paolo can hit that three consistently, it changes my projections for him considerably

Isn't this the million dollar question. What is easier to do:
  • Upgrade Paolo's deep shot and motor
  • Upgrade Chets strength and foot speed
  • Upgrade Smith's toughness and individual play-making

PAOLO has the smallest leap to make.

doesn’t even need the outside shot really

I dont question Paolo's motor. Moreso his defense. And i feel like Smith's biggest weakness is his handle.

Banchero's comp for me remains is still Mike Beasley... Or a souped up Julius Randle.

Houston Kyler Edwards… looks like Klay Thompson out there lol

Prospective NBA players it’s all about what you can hypothetically do. The post moves that Timme gets away with in college won’t fly in the NBA against longer players. You can’t teach length.

I get the line of thinking, but IMO, it's more likely that Timme becomes a super reliable bench player than Chet getting strong enough to bang with 5's or quick enough to hang with 4's. I'm not saying I would be bold enough to draft Timme over Chet, but I don't think Chet is worth a lottery pick, either.

It seems like Timme's "lack of length" concerns are no different than lil' Sabonis', and it worked out okay for him. Post skills and hustle go a long way.

I do question Paolo's motor/effort/mental activity as the reason for his lacking defense. His offensive footwork shows he has the physical skills be be a good defender. Your comps are pretty good!

Agree Smith doesn't dribble well, which is why I said his playmaking was a concern.

I think there is a major difference between Timme and Sabonis, but I guess time will tell. If Timme is a starter in the NBA, let alone an all-star, like Sabonis was, I'll gladly eat crow.
