So what are you saying? Are you going on record as saying Scoot is a bust?
The statement is right there for all to read. "I see nothing special, and his shot is completely broken."
If you want to read something into that that is not there then that is on you. Watch out for those mental gymnastics. If you pull a muscle in that area, you never know how long you'll be out?

maybe it’s time to lower your expectations of him and this season as a whole. Cus he ain’t goin no where and we’re obviously going to have games where we will struggle to break 90 and then we will have games like this. So real no use of constantly complaining about it unless you wanna just bitch to bitch.
They are lowered for sure. I started lowering them about two years ago.

Not sure if Utah laid an egg after losing in 2 ot's to Phoenix or if Portland won the game. Detroit, Washington and San Antonio are certainly taking tanking to a new level to start a season.

If his issue were turnovers, getting lost on defense etc, that would be one thing, but shooting is the most basic thing in basketball, not something that should be so horrendous due to lack of experience.

And his offense is a special kind of garbage. He's like Chris Dudley offensively. May be time to face the facts that he's probably another in a long line of Blazer busts.
Not ready to go there just yet. Now you made me the homer saying he's only 19 and he needs time. He needs to learn how to play his game. I agree the shot is very worrisome, but it can be worked on and he has time to do that.

I loved our energy and how crisp we were. Obviously Bari was huge for us. What I noticed more than anything was how much better we are with real point guards.
I'm sure this game was a big moral boost for the team as well! They're going to need it going into Fridays game.

Thybulle has far exceeded my expectations offensively. He had some phenomenal defensive highlights last night. I am glad Chauncey has him coming off the bench though.

Damian Lillard opened the 2021-22 NBA season by making only 2 of his first 23 three point attempts.
Dame was trying to play through severely injured core muscles. Lillard at half speed, it was easy to see something was wrong. (Then the team fell apart, Cronin began shedding Olshey weight. Starters got benched early, allowing CJ Elleby to shoot 1-8 every night. Then Portland drafted Shaedon Sharpe).

Only a few months earlier, Dame shot 12/17 from 3 in a playoff game. Excuses excuses.

Before Scoot returned, the Blazer offense was a special kind of garbage.

You seem not to have noticed that.

Or, you want a return to the geriatric pace the Blazers were playing.

which is it?

Edit: Do you remember the game at home against the Grizzlies where the Blazers scored 2 points in the last 8 minutes of the game? And went from being ahead by 12 points to losing by 12.

The Trail Blazers are 3-3 with Scoot (and Brogdon) in the lineup.

Without Scoot, the Blazers won only 1 game, the overtime victory at home against Memphis.

That one victory was followed by the worst loss of the season, where the Grizzlies outscored the Blazers 26-2 in the last 8 minutes of the game.

Offensively TRASH! Hes not even a little bit good there. We might as well have drafted Asuar Thompson atleast with his no offense he has elite passing and super elite defense with great rebounding. And taller..

It seems like we did get an SF in last year's draft that can defend and rebound Camara)

I see you skipped over Amen. I guess his early stats didn't look good either?

Who looks good this year is not as important as who looks best next year. We will see.
Hell, maybe Camara ends up as good of a better 2-way player as Asur.

Damian Lillard opened the 2021-22 NBA season by making only 2 of his first 23 three point attempts.

you mean Dame's worst season when his torn abdomen was going to require surgery and end his season early? You mean Dame's 10th season when he already spent 9 seasons establishing himself as a premier 3 point shooter with the best range in the association? You mean the Lillard that had shot 39% the year before that, and 40% the previous year? You mean the Lillard that shot 39% in 4 years in college while Scoot was shooting 27% in G-League? (yes, I know, different distance)

Dame on a cold streak in his career games 740-742 is in no way any kind of legitimate cover for what Scoot has done in his first 6. We knew what Dame had done and was capable of. He has an established baseline and that baseline has been established over 840 NBA games and 104 NCAA games.

all we have for Scoot is his 27% shooting in G-League and his 8% shooting in 6 NBA games. Yes, absolutely, the sample size is way to fucking small to conclude anything yet. That's the only excuse worthy of mentioning right now; not some half-baked-cover of a 3 game cherry picked sample from Dame's 10th season. By the way, Dame was 9-18 in the two games after those 3 games. How long do you suppose it will be until Scoot has a 9-18 stretch from three?

again...way way too small a sample. But it's all we have right now and the knock on Scoot entering the season was his shooting. So what he has done so far, shooting-wise, is notable in that somewhat limited context

If we wanted a non shooter why not just get this guy? Whats the difference?

I will tell you the difference. AUSAR THOMPSON IS NOT A POINT GUARD in the NBA.

The Blazers were clearly worse without Scoot Henderson.

The Pistons are awful WITH AUSAR THOMPSON. I doubt he'd be missed if he got injured for a few weeks.
