I don't know if it's the return of Simons or what.

But there's no reason to keep Brogdon anymore. The team isn't better now.

There was no reason to trade for him to begin with. He fucking sucks

lol. Thought that going without a timeout was a smart decision. But shaedon shoulda known that dude woulda tried to step in-- he's been doing it all game. Good learning experience. I'm just glad we didn't lay down and die when down 22.
I agree 100%. Sharpe goes straight into contact a lot and obviously the scouting report is out. He can learn and grow from it.

If he learns and improves from that play tonight, I'm totally ok with the meaningless loss!

Why the hell is Walker our backup 5 tonight and not Duop or even Brown? Jabari isn't a 5 and can't protect shit when they put him down there

All guard play aside, my biggest concern at the moment is Ayton. This is not a 30+ mil player. Not even close.
That's why we got him and Camara for Nurk.

You don't get a valuable $30m/player for Nurk and Little.

Also, becoming glaringly obvious that Brogdon needs to go (if it wasn't already). Whatever he's helping Scoot with behind the scenes, he's taking away plays/playing time on the court.

No, he's not. Not sure how he made it to the NBA.

Cuz we were switching on defense all night. Walker was decent.

Seeing Cronin golf-clap after Ant brings the game to 1 tells me all I need to know about how bad he does(n't) want us to win.
props to Cronin for actually watching the game. Sometimes he just stares blankly at a random person in the crowd.

Simons and Sharpe were shooting blanks all first half until Brogdan stopped the bleeding. Brogdan found Camara and Thybulle for corner 3s and was big in closing the huge gap we had. Without Brogdan and Grant we'd have lost this game by 30 pts tonight in my view. Ant needs to be traded in my view. We play better defense when he's off the court. I want Sharpe and Scoot and Mays learning from Brogdan's game, not from Ant's game.

I love the decision to not call a timeout. Bummer it didn't work out.
yes... no point in setting up a 3 when your down 3 with 12 seconds left. It's not Chauncey's fault the Warriors played defense and elected not to give up an easy layup. Gosh darnit Coach Kerr !! Warriors cheated.

In listening to the press conference it sounds like Billups was planning on calling timeout, but did communicate that with his team, so when Ayton threw the quick outlet, that prevented us from advancing the ball.

I don't love Billups not having everyone on the same page.

You know those times when Coaches sprint to half court and yell timeout ?? I guess Billups isn't that type of Coach.

We had the ball down 3 with 12 seconds left?

You must be talking about a different game.

How can people defend max contract former number 1 pick that got outplayed by the rookie 57th pick?

It's indefensible

If he wanted the timeout, he would've had to call it before he had time to sprint anywhere. The second he started sprinting, the ball would've been out of Ayton's hands and we would've had to take it out in the backcourt after the Warriors setup their defense.

The big flaw in the situation was Billups and the team not being on the same page about calling a timeout as soon as we got the rebound. Billups said he subbed Ayton in to get a rebound, so he doesn't get the excuse that he didn't think there was a chance Curry would miss the FT.

I don't judge players based off where they were picked or how much money a GM paid them.

Having said that, Ayton hasn't been very good, and disappears in a lot of games. Similar to the guy we traded him for.

I'm happy we got Camara for Little though.

He's a point guard. How many of those do we have on the team right now? He's not playing his true position. When he did, he played good.
I recall you being critical of Brogdon for not passing the ball early in the season when Ant was hurt and Brogdon was playing PG. Am I wrong?

Coach could have set up any play he wanted to. I misread the score, Portland was only down by 2. I guess somewhere on page 17-b of Scott Brooks playbook, it says give it to Shaedon and go 1 on 3 ??

I don't believe it was 1 on 3 either unless you want to count CP3 jogging down the other side of the court. If it was 3 on 1, then credit Sharpe for making a move to get by Curry and CP3 in 5 seconds.

I never knew you were such a big fan of Billups' creativity drawing up plays at the end of games. Remind me which was your favorite?

penny for my thoughts?...yeah, I know, they aren't that valuable...anyway:

* it may just be a coincidence but it does seem that the team's cohesiveness on defense, and the overall effort, took a nose dive when Ant came back. And it seems that Sharpe has become less aggressive in his offense, and out of rhythm as well. At the same time, Scoot has been playing better and better. Still lots of rookie mistakes, but he's finding his way and adjusting to NBA pace. My conclusion from all this is that Scoot should start alongside Sharpe again and Ant should come off the bench. I know it won't happen...Portland is working overtime to make Ant the star of the show. But it should

* I was not a fan of all the Ayton to Portland trade ideas back when it seemed a long shot. I thought he was overrated and overpaid and that C was the least important position. I haven't changed my mind

* WTF has happened to Blazer broadcasting? The quality of the show it way down from what it used to be. Heavy on puff pieces, light on game action, including missing action, and a low level of replays
