Game Thread 2023-24 Game #8 - BLAZERS @ KINGS - NOVEMBER 8, 2023 - WEDNESDAY - 7:00 PM - ROOT

Sharpe has a bit of the Anthony Davis crunch time feel to him at times. He seems very content not taking the shot.

He’s still super young and I’ve seen him take over in a couple 4th quarters this year. Grant is just too much of a black hole on offense for me to root him on.

Sharpe getting zoned out of the offense or not being assertive enough bugged me in this game. Mays was calling his own number a lot. This game it happened to fall. But overall I’d rather Sharpe get those looks.
This is on Shaedon not calling for it. I dont think he fully realizes his ability yet. Easy to forget hes 20. It will come.

100%. I'm not saying it can't change and that he'll never take a big shot.

Wow! These losses carry so much less weight. It's kind of beautiful. I couldn't do this for more than another season but every game with all of the vets that we had for the last decade felt fucking terrible to lose. Tonight we were close and I'm just happy with the effort.

I don’t think it will change with grant on the team and to a somewhat lesser extent ant. At least not significantly this year. If grant stays past deadline it could come later just think it will be sped up if he’s basically demanded of it by no real other options. And Jeramis shots would got get distributed somewhere.

i did not see the game. based on 5 min of perusing the thread, looks like people are not too disappointed despite the loss. Howcome no meltdown?

Haha exactly how I feel. In fact I root for losses way at the end. I just want Shaedon to get all the reps not fucking Malcolm Brogdon and especially Jerami Grant

couldn't watch the game...Brogdon: 5 minutes...did he get injured too?

If Grant is the reason Sharpe doesn't want to take shots down the stretch, that would be more concerning to me. Any top player on this roster with a killer-instinct should have all the confidence in the world to take big shots this season, with so little on the line.

First of all no loss this season should cause a meltdown because they all should be expected. We did lose Malcolm in the first half which left us with Mays as the only supposed PG but that dude doesn't know how to pass the ball. The team fought hard, Shaedon should be asserting himself more but I think everyone remembers that he's only 20 and I think most of us want at least one more season with a really high draft pick.

Anyone melting down over a loss this season, especially when we're down 3 of our top 6 players, is simply looking for a reason to complain.

Team played hard, above their skill level, and more or less, just ran out of gas. Plus, the loss will probably be a positive come April. Not much to be disappointed about.

The Kings should be a great reminder to many of us that if/when this team has a year where it looks like we've broken through, it can be real hard to maintain it for multiple seasons.

We're a few years away from even having to worry about that though.

Yeah I'm not worried about losses at all. I cannot WAIT until Scoot gets back. If we had Scoot tonight I think we win due to the passing. Sharpe needs to start getting more aggressive like his attempted dunk on Len, give me more of that! Overall, no big deal, expected losses are expected.

Wait, Jerami Grant had 9 rebounds and 5 assists?!?

maybe its a confidence issue, but again i think chauncey is probably asking more of grant than sharpe because hes a vet and sharpe is young and doesnt want to step on toes. I would be more concerned if grant wasnt on the team and he was doing that tbh.

exiting basketball tonight, both teams played hard. Grant was swishing everything. Ayton caught fire and almost put the Kings away. Skylar Mays was repetitively breaking down the defense. Blazers played intense defense. Stealing, blocking, hacking anything that moved. Full on Kings haters can have a meltdown, but not Blazers fans.

Possibly. On the flip side, I fully expect Grant to be the worst #1/#2 late game option Sharpe ever plays next to. We've seen guys like Dame come in as a rookie (yes, he was older) and have no problem taking big shots with other all-stars/vets on the court.

Time will tell on Sharpe. Even if he doesn't want to be that guy, he can still be a nice contributor.

that's encouraging. gunna watch the highlights later. it used to be when shae scores 15+ i am ecstatic. Now, he scores 18 I feel he didn't maximize his night. He's only 20
