Marcus Smart just got Porzingis and a couple of firsts, partially due to his amazingly team friendly contract at 3/60M left for a 29y/o. Ant's at 3/77M at 23, not nearly as accomplished, but way more accomplished than Smart was at 23.

Smart wasn't traded at 24. He was traded at 29 as a DPOY winner who was 1st team defense for 3 straight years and has shown solid PG skills. Smart spent the 5 years between Ant's age and his own building value. Value like performing in the playoffs for 108 games, 73 as a starter. Smart's value is the established consistent value of an experienced veteran. Ant, not so much

Who is a below average starting forward that you would be okay with?
OG DeRozen CamJohnson DFS Barnes JohnCollins BruceBrown Porzingis HerbJones Hachimua DillonBrooks are a few names off the top of my head. Heck even Larry Nance had good stretches.

Not saying they'd all be perfect or attainable but we've seen many of them moved for less than a first round pick.

Plus Smart wasn’t recorded answering a question about sucking his own Dick.

I’m more interested about whether they pick up Knox.

None of these guys are below average. maybe Brooks.

I have been saying for months that Draymond is the guy I think Dame has been recruiting. He’d allow Grant to slide to small forward.

Dame
Sharpe
Grant
Draymond
Nurk.

Scoot is the first player off the bench.

For the 30-40 games this lineup actually plays in a season we'll do really well!

Yeah… still want to get rid of Nurk.

I also mean Dame; he's not going be reliable for more than 60-65 games a season anymore (call it a hunch)... Dray is old too. I really don't like this "hey if all our old guys and fragile guys pan out we're golden" setup.

it would certainly make things interesting, but I just can't believe Green would leave millions on the table and join the Blazers instead

I guess he could say to the Warriors "S&T me to Portland or I'll sign there for the MLE", but that seems real far-fetched

would that be tampering by Dame?

If Dame gets Draymond to push for this as when we got Grant it could happen.

Draymond tells Golden State trade me to Portland or I sign with Sacramento.

Blazers send Ant to Spurs, Spurs send a player to GS, GS gets young cheap player and pick(s).

Green only comes if the Blazers pay him 30-40 million per year most likely, in which case he's not losing any millions.

Green would have to use Sacramento or San Antonio or Houston or something with the threat to sign with cap space.

NBA had consistently ruled players can't get in trouble for tampering.

The league has been very hands-off with punishing players (or teams) for "player tampering". Now, if it was Cronin going to dinner with Draymond, that's a Joe Smith of an entirely different color. Team executives can have their records audited to investigate tampering charges. I find it unlikely that an agent or player will allow that.

Point blank I think Draymond in Portland would be a disaster; how much of his game is dependent on the refs swallowing their whistles because "good defense" is just what they choose not to call? He will absolutely fail here, and it'll be chalked up to "oh he isn't as fast as he used to be" or whatever, but it'll definitely be because the ref respect level is lower here than elsewhere.

I think we have it backwards. Dray is recruiting Dame, and the trade will look like this:

It makes (a very weird kind of) sense for both teams in their relative pursuits. If we trade Dame it's for the future not the present. Klay is over the hill and GS would want to upgrade; Portland wants salary freedom sooner, and could use an SG with a similar game to Dame but without the need to have the ball all the time.

Now if you are saying Dame straight for Klay no way in hell. Blazers need major assets to rebuild if they trade Dame. Klay as you say would likely walk next year and might even get bought out if traded here.

Warriors only young players of value are Kuminga and Moody which are worth much less than when drafted.

The Warriors could send picks to the Blazers but the protections would be pretty funky. Warriors 2024 pick is owed to Boston top4 protected then goes to 2015 top 1 protected then 2016 unprotected. I'd be more than 99% sure if Dame gets traded to GS it is conveyed in 2024 so I'd be fine making the trade with it worded conditionally.

Blazers receive 2030 2028 2026 picks all unprotected and swaps in 2027 2029 both unprotected. 2026 pick is not conveyed if their 2024 pick is top4 but yes as I mentioned earlier I'm fine with that fraction of a percent chance.

Dame might actually like this more than having to take the longest flight in the US possible to Miami as he still has his PDX mansion I bet he lives in often regardless of any future NBA city he plays in. Obviously Warriors are basically his hometown.

Maybe the Warriors don't quite want to give out all that draft equity - but if they're going to get Dame they need to give up a hell of a lot of it. Regardless if the Blazers ever seriously consider trading Dame to GS - having another team that can make a competitive offer does nothing but push up the offers needed for another team to acquire Dame so thats good for the Blazers if ultimately they do need to explore Dame trades.

Keeping a really close eye on what is happening with OG. He's one of the first players to go away from Klutch and he's making this change amidst noise that he wants a bigger role while being a FA next yr.

Here is a new deal being thrown around today in the press. I think we could do worse. yea or nay
Trade Details
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Jaime Jaquez Jr, Nikola Jovic, Malik Beasley, Mo Bamba, Victor Oladipo, 2024 First-Round Pick (MIA), 2028 First-Round Pick (MIA), 2024 Second-Round Pick (LAC)

Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Tyler Herro

Miami Heat Receive: Damian Lillard
I’m going to call this the “don’t get too excited, that’s Jovic with a V” trade.
