I agree...Murray is a boring pick
I'm looking at a couple draft profiles on him and none rate his defense high; kind of surprising that Portland would draft a guy who is not an outstanding defender, now they have drafted two.Kris Murray measured 6' 7.75" without shoes at the 2023 NBA Draft Combine. So when compared to other NBA players ....6.9" ? 212 lbs and a 7' wing.
Billas said he was a good defender....which position? Can he guard SFs?
what are they getting back
prolly nothing substantial. goes right into the tpe dallas got.what are they getting back
Is Joes phone still blowing up?
nah they traded for him last night.Grizzlies just drafted Morant's replacement when he inevitably messes up again![]()
Nope.Wasn't there picks in between?
Like the breakdown a lot. Yeah, for me I've logged that hard-nosed but high-tail athletic gym rat types can get a lot better at "skills" with work (aside: why I'm really high on Scoot's eventual 3pt shot). Similar to how OKC drafts high-IQ players with movement motors, I think high-motor defensive gym rats can get a corner 3 or free throw shot. And yes, I would've likely taken Miller or OMP before Murray, but who knows how "safe" and "ready" POR wanted to be?Seems like the Blazers have selected Kris Murray.
But I'm just going to talk about Leonard Miller real quick.
So, I noticed a trait, one that I used to 'select Eason' last year.
If a first round caliber forward (PF/Cs don't count) is 6'8", has a 7'2" wingspan, and 9" hands and plays defense, they pretty much don't fail.
They're Nic Batum or Rui Hachimura.
If they're uber athletic and have shot creation on top of that, the list is reserved only for a select few:
Siakam, Pippen, Ingram, Durant, Kawhi, Giannis.
I don't think Miller is good enough for superstardom but he would've been a good fit for Portland, especially next to Scoot, who he has chemistry with.
Just remember that, for the future (unless he doesn't pan out, then pretend I never mentioned it).
Leonard Miller hasn't been drafted yet so if we still want him...
The basketball Gods definitely answered our prayers. We got Scoot and one of the twins.
Leonard Miller hasn't been drafted yet so if we still want him...
new CBA is making GMs value rookie contracts a lot moreso far we've had 1 trade involving players during this draft.
and two trades involving pick shuffling.
thought there would be more activity after all the fuss the media was making. wonder if the CBA still not being ratified is leading to some hesitancy in moves.
OG for Ant, maybe upgrading Nurk + Stuff to Turner/AytonPosted at the same time.
So we have until end of free agency. I'm not sure what we can possibly do. Ant for DDR and our pick back? At least DDR can play SF full time.
