What is with you people and complaining about every single GM this team has had? I get it, every fan base has to bitch and complain about management on twitter and in forums, but seriously.

Sorry, I guess it's the society we live in now where we get to take shots at others when they have no idea what it takes.

His record speaks for itself.

The fact that he didn't talk to Dame tonight is something to me. I mean it tells me that Dame isn't OK with this. I don't know if that means that he will demand a trade when he next talks to Joe but it wouldn't be too surprising if he did.

Dame is in Paris. It was 2AM France time when the draft started

Also a chance Scoot balls the hell out during SL and Brooklyn or New Orleans come crawling back lol

Olshey needed to go, but Cronin is no upgrade.

The thing is.... Joe seems to be rebuilding without telling anyone.

He's saying one thing... while doing something completely different. None of his moves make ANY sense if he was actually trying to build around Dame.

What did you guys want him to say?

Did you want him to tell everyone that we need to trade Simons now to make it work? That would not be smart.
I like what he had to say. He said was looking for BPA and that talent was essentially everything. And Scoot was better than what was being offered in a trade based on talent and contract. (Meaning anyone with 1 year left was not a better option than Scoot)

Hold up..... wait a minute....... are you legitimately going to feed me a win/loss record for when we were ACTIVELY trying to lose games? I mean... I know we all thought that putting John Butler Jr at point guard was a winning move that sadly didn't work out, but I know you're better than this.

We BEAT teams that were trying to win, and we were BEATING teams that were trying to win.

Memphis?

Minnesota?

Clippers?

Even Paul George was impressed with Sharpe during that LAC game.

hold up yourself...I wasn't the one arguing that Sharpe's PPG in those 11 games meant it would be a quick turnaround for Portland after Dame is traded

I have this sinking feeling he doesn't have the faintest idea what he is doing.

I don't think that's the case. I think he knows exactly what he's doing. He's just not being honest.

He's cutting salary. He's drafting BPA. The dude is rebuilding while trying to keep Dame happy. Could be because they want to keep Dame to boost the value of the team when they sell. Could be that they want to keep selling jerseys. I don't know. But he has been very deliberate in cutting salary. I don't think that's coming from him. He's a puppet, but I think the draft choices are solid.

Dude. Dame is in Paris. Different time zone. I'm sure they will talk in the ensuing days.
Oh I'm sure they will but I bet Dame just watched what we watched, you think he gives a shit if this is in the middle of the night where he is? This is his life.

The fact that we did exactly what Dame said he wasn't here for and Joe basically just said that we're going to roll with the 19 year old that isn't a 19 year old... I'm just saying that I won't be surprised if we hear soon that Dame has asked out or we just get news of a Dame trade that will complete on July 10th. I'm not saying that's for sure going to happen, maybe Dame is cool with all of this, it's just not what I would imagine the case is.

Olshey needed to go, but Cronin is no upgrade.

I don't recall saying he was an upgrade. I said I preferred him. Olshey was too snake-oily for my tastes. He didn't seem to appreciate the community, was smarmy and seemed to want to argue at the drop of a hat.

Sharpe is one player

OKC couldn't make the playoffs with SGA being a top-15 player and him having a nice young supporting cast. Dallas couldn't make the playoffs with Doncic. New Orleans couldn't make the playoffs with Ingram, CJ, Murphy, Jones, and Valiunciunas. Markkanen averaged 26 & 9 for Utah and they were 4 games out of even qualifying for the play-in. Toronto had Siakam, OG, FVV, and Barnes and didn't make the playoffs. Chicago had DaVine, DeRozan, Caruso, and Vucevic and couldn't make the playoffs

the Clippers, with all their talent were a 1st round exit only winning 1 game. Memphis was a 1st round exit; so was Milwaukee, Atlanta, and Cleveland

Portland will have a difficult time making the kind of turnaround you imagine. I'm sure Sacramento thought their turnaround was going to be faster than the 15 years it took. Or Minny was expecting better than 16 lottery appearances in 17 years. Golden State spent 17 of 18 years in the lottery. Phoenix spent 10 straight years in the lottery.

so excuse me if I'm very skeptical the Blazers could make the playoffs 3 years after trading Dame
Ok dude, the sky is falling… breathe man LOL

Even great players don’t typically win their first title when they’re young. Jordan was 28. Curry was 27. Kobe did it at 22, but he had a Diesel clearing the way. I think Sharpe and Scoot are likely to be All-Stars, but it’s still going to take some time to develop their games to elite status and to assemble the right pieces around them. Trading Dame is likely to generate future picks more than immediate talent. All of that, IMO, says 5-8 years of losing basketball.

I mean.... 6-8 years is pretty bombastic as well. How many star players took THAT long to reach their potential? To me, it's not so much about Scoot or Sharpe, it's about how quickly Cronin can put a team around them. Isn't that what we have learned from the years with Dame? Having a star is great but you need a TEAM to win.

I did not say the sky is falling. It's my take that most NBA rebuilds take longer than 3-4 years. I think that's especially the case after a team trades their franchise player

what if Scoot is a bust?

that interview from Cronin inspired 0 confidence in this clueless dude's ability to do anything but tank and take BPA.

who the fuck cares about snake oil now? we're about to lose the best player in franchise history. cronin contradicted himself like 8 times in that interview. this team has no direction.

For the keep Dame crowd, I don't know how anyone came away from that presser feeling good about Dame's future. I don't see how that guy is going to sell Dame on staying after this.

and that's the guy who would be trading Dame...right?
