I also want Dame to retire a Blazer with at least one ring but if I was Dame's friend or family member or agent I would tell him to demand a trade now. Why waste anymore time with these games. Cronin is playing games. He's saying one thing and then doing another over and over again and it's wasting Dame's time.

and that's the guy who would be trading Dame...right?

I have actually said it before.... having Joe handle Dame's exit is terrifying. But it doesn't seem like there's much out there anyway, so how much could a good GM really extract from GM at this point?

and that's the guy who would be trading Dame...right?
It is and that's a little scary I guess but he's made good tear down moves already... I think he could pull off the biggest one without completely fucking us for the next decade.

Maybe he's got something up his sleeve that he can tell Dame about that's going to happen in the next two weeks but if not I think Dame would be foolish not to ask out.

that interview from Cronin inspired 0 confidence in this clueless dude's ability to do anything but tank and take BPA.

who the fuck cares about snake oil now? we're about to lose the best player in franchise history

I'm not sure why this matters so much to you, but, since you asked.

First, I care.

Second, Olshey's early teams succeeded to large degree because of players already on the roster. When those players moved on, Olshey couldn't adequately replace them, and his awful deals left Cronin to try to clean up his mess.

Finally, neither of us knows whether or not we're going to lose the best player in franchise history, although you're obviously going off the deep end over something about which you have no control. I'm concerned with this team winning, though. That means more to me than what Damian Lillard wants. I'd love to win with Dame. If the Blazers can't do that, though, win under Dame's parameters, I'm much more invested in the Blazers winning without him.

For the keep Dame crowd, I don't know how anyone came away from that presser feeling good about Dame's future. I don't see how that guy is going to sell Dame on staying after this.

Maybe a tad bit early to say that? Trades and free agency are still an option

So..... a borderline all-star is the worst case?

I never considered Bledsoe anywhere close to an all-star. He was a couple of zip codes away from that border

I get that you want to be all positive about the Blazers sans Dame, but I think you guys are getting way out over your skis

SGA is a top-15 player and he hasn't led OKC to a playoff game in 4 seasons. I just don't see how you can say it would take Sharpe 3 or 4 years. He may never be as good as SGA

Yeah, Joe kinda put a clock on it he said there is a two week window right now. I think that's the time he'll have to salvage this but I don't think he'll be able to and if I were Dame I wouldn't let him think he had that option. I would listen to this press conference and demand a trade.

winning? winning what?

i wholeheartedly wanted Scoot. but i also wanted to pair that selection with an Ant trade and/or Nurk trade for upgrades at positions of need. We got nothing. This guy has not made a draft day trade in two years. It looks like he's deathly afraid of doing anything.

he literally said Chauncey has to figure out how to navigate the roster imbalance.

We will see real quick if that happens.

Yeah, right now I think you're thinking with your heart and not your head. All the hyperbole isn't worth my time. I'm not interested in who you wanted. I don't see not trading as a bad thing ... trading just to trade so illmatic is happy is a great way to make a bad situation worse. Trading from desperation like you seem to favor will sink you faster than everything. I'd rather have a guy that's prudent and doesn't waste resources.

Nothing I or anyone else says is going to make you feel better because you're on a rager. Do me a favor and don't respond to me just because you want to find someone to argue with. I don't have time for nonsense.

I think if Joe could bring in DeMar DeRozan at SF, that would be an excellent addition that works. Ant is the odd man out because of his size at 2G (not a PG). Trading Ant to Chicago for DeRozan works. Give them next years pick out right, and free up future capital for beyond next year.

lol OK. you're the one who brought up Olshey and preference to Cronin.

incompetence is fine i guess.

Where did I say that?

that was GB, sorry...but, how long would it take...you said my 6-8 years was bombastic. If you don't stand behind 3-4 years, well geeeezuzzz, let's see now...not 3-4, that's too short...and not 6-8 that's too long. 5 years! That's just right

even though I'm drunk I recognize this is pointless

Do you think Dame, Shaedon, DDR, Jerami, Nurk, Scoot, Murray, TPMLE and hoping someone from the rest of the squad pops, being coached by Chauncey gets us into the playoffs and past the first round?

Yes… and we wouldn’t have sacrificed future to do it

He didn't answer questions. He just said what he wanted to say and moved on.

Neil would have been combative. Joe just pretended like nobody else was in the room.

You're not wrong, but also, what is he supposed to say?

In previous press conferences, he's given nuggets about what they wanted to do in the future, and that's just set him up to get blasted when he fails to do so.

If this upcoming season ends up in the play-in range (or worse), you'd assume he's done for.

Can I flip it and ask you, as someone on the "Dame is gone if we don't trade #3" train: Do you think Dame starts the season as a Blazer now that they've draft Scoot?

I can't really answer your part of the question because I never fully bought into the theory that Dame was saying he'd demand out if drafted a 19 year old. I still think it's a possibilty he asks out. I think there is a case to be made that we should trade him (regardless of what he wants), assuming a good deal is on the table. But I can see Dame being on the team this October, once again, with an underwhelming roster. He's done it for many years previously.

I'm not sure a guy who averaged 13-4-4 would be considerd a borderline all-star. And now take away a 3pt shot from a 13-4-4, that's even worse.

PS - I don't think Scoot will become Bledsoe-lite, at all.

That's up to Dame.

We know what Dame said. Cronin called his bluff, but seems to be trying to gaslight Dame into thinking that this was a win-now move.

So do you think Dame is the kind of guy to follow through? I think Dame will want out because I don't think Joe is going to be able to do anything between now and training camp. Nothing significant. I'm hopeful they can find a good deal for Simons, but it's not going to be the kind of trade that Dame wants.

The guy had major injury issues.... but he had some good runs. Are you guys just ignoring that?

Yes I'd split the difference. Or say 4-5. I think 3 is too short and I think 8 is absurdly long. So the sweet spot is in the 4-6 year range. Scoot and Sharpe would be 25-26 years old and hopefully that's enough time to add pieces around them.
