I read the whole thing and am not seeing that quote unless its this quote:

"
Turning the page
Nearly a month before the Lillard trade was consummated, Blazers owner Jody Allen delivered a course-setting message to the organization’s lead business executives.
"

I don't see anything that indicates that Jody herself said to not let Dame come back (only to wait until the deadline and be traded to the Heat, not sure why so many miss that part of the Haynes piece). What am I missing here?
Blazers President Dewayne Hankins recalled Allen putting an end to the mounting questions during a Zoom call in early September: “We really need to move on. We’ve got great young talent. We’re not like other rebuilding teams who don’t have a strong core of young players. It’s time to turn the page.”

Those marching orders led the Blazers to ditchPlan B and remove Lillard entirely from their promotional materials in favor of Henderson, guard Anfernee Simons and other members of their young core. Inside the organization, the transition had begun. Meanwhile, the fan base was coming to terms with Lillard’s probable exit, and season ticket holders renewed at a 93 percent rate, up six percentage points from the previous season.

“We wanted to honor Dame’s trade request,” Hankins said. “If we promote him, are we being true to our fans? That was the moment when we started saying that this was a new era. It’s really hard to lose a legend like Damian whose number will go in the rafters as soon as possible. At the same time, I think we’re prepared. Our next step is getting our fans to fall in love with these guys.”

Lovely. FWIW:

Bat (the animal) comes from middle English 'bakke' (which probably came from Norse languages), Bat (club, staff) comes from old English 'batt' which probably came from the French 'batte'.

My old roommate was named Bakke. He was also Pac-10 javelin champion. He was also 1998 state of Oregon football champion now that I remember it.

curious...looked it up...Nick Bakke; 2002 champion

I knew Art Skipper. The 1992 champ. Amazing guy. Firefighter. He died tragically in a small plane crash 20+ years ago. His daughter ended up going to UO and was in the band. She was a baby and didn’t get to know him. Dude legit looked like Superman.

Ah, my mistake and thank you for that. I skimmed the article and did a keyword search for Jody. Thanks for pointing this out. Interesting that this is attributed to Allen. It's all water under the bridge at this point.

In his farewell letter, (I haven't read it yet in part because I hate the Instagram format for reading) I have read others say that Dame says he wants to come back and retire here which is music to my ears. Him winning a championship with Scoot and Sharpe in his twilight years has long been a dream I have had and now it seems that it is more likely in the sense we got the assets from trading him so they will have more support. Now it's up to them to reach their potential, the far more difficult piece of the puzzle.

Tommy Skipper, his son, also competed at Oregon and won 5 national titles in pole vault.

Speaking about that list, I also hooked up with John Stiegeler's sister, and he was 2001 champion. I think he even won Nationals if I remember right. I had forgotten about that. I think they were from Coos Bay.

Thybulle stole a ball. There's not supposed to be pressure defense in scrimmage. That's cheatin'

Sharpe measured 6' 5.25' with shoes at the combine and Cronin said Scoot measured 6' 3.5" (I assume with shoes?)
If that's the case, the 3-inch difference as shown on the training camp roster is misleading.
With Sharpe listed as 6'6" and Scoot as 6'3". One is rounded up and other other down.
The actual difference it seem is less than 2 inches. How much less I suppose we can guess when we see them side by side.
I'm not interested in actual measurements. I'm interested in Barrett measurements.

I'm really glad the NBA is finally mandating that players have to participate in the draft combine. They can't dodge the measurements any more. So we should be able to actually compare heights without/shoes. Apples to apples

Sharpe is right there fitting into the average size of SG's; So is Brogdon; so is Thybulle. And Scoot is around average size for a PG. The monkey-wrench is Ant at starting SG. He square pegs any round hole rotation. He'll limit Portland's ability to NOT have small lineups at SG/SF. And having the 6'5 trio of Thybulle/Sharpe/Brogdon penciled in as the SF rotation makes Portland small at wing. And Ant will definitely limit Portland's ability to defend
