You know what’s funny…. Or maybe not…… I have MULTIPLE examples and stories I could share that blows this opinion out of the water…..just not worth my time. Just know that this kid is as dedicated to getting better than almost any player I’ve been around on this team.
This is great to hear. Any insight on his tendency to float through the majority parts of some games? Is it personnel?

Sharpe is a waste of talent. This is the kind of game you expect your young superstar to take over, but he apparently doesn’t have the motor or the desire to be a great player or to put a team on his shoulders.

Then get rid of the vets!

This is on Cronin more than anybody else. You don’t claim rebuild and then continue to hold onto veterans that are highly paid and trot them out there at the expense of the youth.

This whole two timeline rebuild is a joke. In a draft like this, you suck and you suck hard and let the chips fall where they may.
It's fine having one or two vets. Maybe the team could've kept Timelord and one of Grant Ayton Ant or such. That would give the youth some leadership in Timelord and someone else to run the offense through if they had a deer in the headlights moment.

But keeping ALL FIVE vets of Ayton Ant Grant Timelord Thybulle was a horrible decision at the time and looks horrible if not worse today.

I can't believe how many fans here have defended Cronin decision to hold onto these vets.

I hate to say it, but Chauncey appears to have lost the team. You can really see it with Ant and Ayton.

The reservation I have for firing Billups is I think he has done well developing guys like Sharpe, Camara, Clingan, Banton, Rupert, etc. When our vets were sitting out the youth all played with hustle and movement. It's like watching two different rosters.

Is it Billups fault that Ant and Ayton don't do what he wants and are on this roster? Will a different coach change any of that if Cronin still tells the coach to play these clowns?

Somehow Billups got this roster to 8-12 which was super impressive. I'm concerned a coaching change might completely lose the team and we end up having one of the worst records from here out in NBA history which also might harm our youth development.

It was a great sign to see Billups bench Ayton so if he continues to do that I might want to see what happens for some more games.

But Billups should certainly be on the hot seat. Honestly I'm not sure Billups even cares if he's fired, he's had less talent to work with as a coach than any team in the league so he'd probably welcome being able to get away from this trainwreck of a franchise.

What I also think is killing us is Jody is an interim owner. She's not going to improve the team before she sells it. She can't make any long term moves without risking the value of the team.
Agree with bolded part

The main problem with Jody is she won't pay the tax and she has a management team not executing a single long term vision. Having Kolde/Vulcan micromanaging crap for years even worse than Paul did could be a big part of that as well.

Is she really an interim owner though? I think she’s keeping the team. It’s been damn near 10 years since she’s owned it

Haha.. I don’t know what @THE HCP is talking about either. The kid literally doesn’t give a shit with the way he plays and he says that

Which kid? (Which post is this referring to?)

The BlazerSurprise youtube guys were saying Utah hadn't led by more than 20 points at any time in a game this WHOLE SEASON.... Super impressive tank job that we were able to spot them 42.

Yeah, he just floats through so much of so many games, not much "fire" and his 3 pt shooting this year has been bad - 28%. I am at a crossroads with him, he has a lot of talent but will he maximize it or most of it? On one side he's only 21 and has missed a lot of games thus far in his short career, the negative is the effort level and wanting it. At this time I would like to see a coaching change and getting rid of Ant/Ayton/Grant if possible to give the young guys a better shot and sort of clean the slate and start over, doubting that will happen.

LOL, in a way it was TOO "impressive", don't mind losing in this tank season but too many games like this will not be a good thing - time for a major overhaul regarding coach and vet players

Yeah I'm not sure what his future will be ultimately. He has moments where he looks like an All-NBA player. Maybe without Ant/Ayton he'd play much better, its hard to know. He has dominated multiple games even back to his rookie season while having the opposition trying to stop him. Just super impressive. But yeah he also has poor percentages and tons of games where he contributes nothing. His defense might have actually got worse the last 3 years.

I want to keep him and see what he looks like the rest of this year and next season. But I'm certainly super nervous about giving him a big contract if he gets offered that. I'm also going to draft or acquire a player at his position without hesitation as he hasn't shown he's a long term starter.

If 6 years is near 10 then I guess you could be right? Paul Allen died in October of 2018 and she took control of the team with Neil Olshey as GM and Terry Stotts as coach. Now understand that year they won 53 games and made the WCF's. The team has gone nowhere since.
Remember at the time is was all due to the coach #FireStotts!
Then it was all Olshey!
Now It's all Billups!
Assuming Joe will get the blame next right?

When do we assume the franchise needs new ownership? It has been said Ownership/GM/Coaches don't win games. Talent wins games. Owners need to spend money to get talent. Yes getting lucky in the draft is always a good thing but if you get really lucky you will need to pay that player or players and pay to keep quality players around them.
I don't personally think Jody is a terrible owner but she certainly does not have a great track record at this point.

Plus side, Sharpe is suppressing his value for the contract extension. While disappointed, I hardly think the league's worst offense is helping Shaedon. Some of it is his fault, some is Chauncey's. Much of the time he's parked in the corner like a Stotts did DJJ. I want to see the correct lineup before I judge. He may not be a #1, but rather a #2.

if people believe that Sharpe & Scoot are underachieving their talents, is there a better reason to fire Billups ASAP

The danger is letting an assistant takeover and overachieving and feeling obligated to hire long-term. I'm not a fan of Chauncey, but nothing changes by firing him. Only more spending, which we know ownership is very allergic to.

The results will be better when you move off of Ayton and Grant. And probably Ant.

Tanking season being good or not, losses like this are unacceptable and they damage the fan base for game goers. Nobody wants to pay to go to a game like this.

Chauncey should have been gone a long time ago, and if it weren’t acceptable to be losing for “development” then he would be. But at this point you’ve really got to wonder how acceptable it is to keep him despite the acceptability to lose this year.

A while ago I said give him time. Then I said ‘it’s okay cause we aren’t going to win anyways’. But now I think it’s time for him to go.

Agreed.

He needs to go

He better not get an extension.

there are 60 games and nearly 6 months of the season left. If Chauncey is bad for the development of Sharpe and Scoot, that's a lot of critical development time to waste

Jody has shown she's willing to pay players. I'm not so worried about that. We need to draft highly in the draft as often and as long as possible and once we can no longer do that we should start filling in around that team via trades to put ourselves over the top.

If we get to that point the team will be worth max value and Jody will probably be more likely to sell.

Other GM should know who they are. The extra 5 or 6 minutes every night won’t change anything in the value. Or worsen it maybe
So you and your friend who liked this post are trying to WIN these games then? You either want to WIN these games or not. I promise you the day before the draft lottery everybody on here who has been complaining all game thread will be very happy we got the L.

Fans aren’t going ANYWHERE. They win, they’ll show up.
